Just wondering if those that have refused to have the vaccine are now wishing they had?

There’s a lot of talk about vaccinated people not having to quarantine in the future making travel easier, the possibility of a vaccine passport to be able to go to events and travel.

I have several friends that have refused to have the vaccine due to conspiracy theories and ‘not knowing the risks’, if they had taken the first vaccine they would have had their 2nd by now and potentially be ok to travel in the coming weeks or attend events, there even talk of some jobs needing vaccination (care workers).

I’m just wondering if anyone regrets their choice not to vaccinate?

BTW, I am vaccinated but I’m not judging those who decided against it, just wondering if they have changed their minds?

@Flaxmeadow

But you initially didn't say production would be reduced you said

I said you can't "always" just get it, in reply to someone who said you could always get it (meaning at anytime)

In the case of my neighbour, (one jab April) the GP is telling her that it won't be available after August. I have been there when they phoned her and she has been told a few times, once it was a GP who phoned

This is what you said

You can't "always" get the vaccine, because it ends in August. Vaccines won't be available after that

You will still be able to get it after August, just might not be as convenient.

And I would email the practice manager and complain about the gp who is telling patients bollocks to coerce them into having a medication that they don't want.

Flaxmeadow · 23/06/2021 13:32

But not at the same rate.

Why do people think vaccine factories would just keep pumping out this vaccine at the same rates for anyone changing their mind?
Vaccines have a shelf life
If people refuse, they refuse. If they then suddenly change their mind months down the line, then why do they think a jab will still be there waiting for them, on a shelf somewhere

Thewiseoneincognito · 23/06/2021 13:33

I think once it becomes crystal clear boosters are needed on a rolling basis they will build specific vaccination hubs to take the strain off GPS and clinics. Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if they start mailing it out in the post in pill form.

There’s no chance they will stop giving vaccines out, they will just improve them as and when they need to be and once the data comes through about how everyone who has had a dose is managing.

Then I’ll be able to make an informed choice about which one to take and the potential long term risks associated with them.

Flowerlane · 23/06/2021 13:34

@Flaxmeadow

No regrets. I can always get the vaccine

You can't "always" get the vaccine, because it ends in August. Vaccines won't be available after that

Then GP’s are telling everyone different things as my gp has said the complete opposite of what your neighbours gp has said. Hmm

Obviously the vaccine centres will start to close as there will not be such a big demand as now but the vaccine will definitely be available.

I thought there was a time frame for the 2nd vaccine having to have so many weeks after the first if that’s missed then you can’t then have the 2nd and need to start the course again like other vaccines? I think that is what the GP means.

Do you have any idea how long it’s going to take to vaccinate the world? Do you know how many in the world haven’t had a dose yet? It’s billions. Vax companies have struck gold in manufacturing them. There’s no way they’re going to stop now.
Flaxmeadow · 23/06/2021 13:39

Or not available at all

She isn't being pressured. It isn't bollocks and the practice is good.

I'm pro vaccine but I've said a few times on these boards that people should not be pressured into it, or made to feel bad. I especially think this about people with mental health conditions and who are not a high covid risk, because it might be distressing for them to have the vaccine and then be in a very worried anxious state of mind afterwards.

bumbleymummy · 23/06/2021 13:42

The vaccines will still be available in August. Your statement was incorrect.

You think a GP would have a vaccine especially flown in from another country because Mr and Mrs Jo Bloggs, who should have been fully vaccinated in April, have suddenly changed their mind in September?

It isn't about individuals, it's a programme and a certain number has to be reached. That some might not have, a small percent, doesnt matter, as long as a certain percentage have had it then the programme is completed. It's about numbers and reaching vaccine herd immunity

bumbleymummy · 23/06/2021 13:48

Why on Earth would you need to fly doses in from another country when there will still be loads here? Confused they’re starting a booster campaign in the autumn.

Many won’t be vaccinated with both doses by September as they only just started opening up for over 18’s now, in April they were on group 6 in most areas. So a majority would not have had both vaccines by April like you said above.

A campaign of more of this vaccine or a new modified vaccine?

My Mr and Mrs Bloggs was just an example

bumbleymummy · 23/06/2021 13:52

The program won’t be completed. And yes, the same vaccines:

whistleflower · 23/06/2021 13:54

She is being told that it wont be available for her because the vaccine programme by then will be being wound down. It's obvious. If the vast majority have been vaccinated, why would they keep producing it?

You think a GP would have a vaccine especially flown in from another country because Mr and Mrs Jo Bloggs, who should have been fully vaccinated in April, have suddenly changed their mind in September?

I don't understand your logic at all here. Surely every 17 year old this year will turn 18 next year, and then be available for their first two vaccine doses?

And if it's made available for 12+ then the 11 year olds will be in the same position. If 0+ then all the babies yet to be born.

They will stop production when it's no longer needed for people who haven't had it, and if it's no longer needed, why would Mr and Mrs Jo Bloggs suddenly decide they want it?

If this is coming from a GP then he or she is clearly at it and pressuring the person. Informed consent, anyone?

Flaxmeadow · 23/06/2021 13:56

The program won’t be completed. And yes, the same vaccines:

Yes it will, or near enough, if we carry on at this rate

I can't believe people think this vaccine will just keep being produced, or ordered, at the same rate for the sake of it, indefinitely.

A certain number have to be vaccinated for vaccine herd immunity. Those that don't want it will become an irrelevant number at some point

bumbleymummy · 23/06/2021 13:58

No, not indefinitely but definitely well beyond August this year!

Torres10 · 23/06/2021 13:59

@ Tinkcat2, I think a PP may have also asked, but which vaccine did you have can I ask?
My mum, has been having similar muscle and rheumatoid issues since her first AZ jab. She has been most unwell and was despite being in her 70's, previously fit and healthy. GP doesn't really want to know and I feel bad for saying she should get vaccinated :(

Flaxmeadow · 23/06/2021 14:03

No, not indefinitely but definitely well beyond August this year!

By August the vast majority will be double jabbed and the vaccine will be for those who haven't. The small number of ones who should have had it months before won't matter

To put it bluntly. It's not about whether a few people refuse the vaccine, it's about NHS capacity for hospitalisations of covid. If they are low, then the NHS will cope

whistleflower · 23/06/2021 14:04

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/mmr-vaccine/

Big massive disclaimer at the bottom of this page for all those 'irrelevant' people that haven't had it.... telling them to ask their GP so they can get it. Confused

The only reason this would be any different is if they actually did away with it, and they're not going to do that unless it's not needed i.e because they have an effective treatment or it has mutated enough to be a total non-issue. In which case why would anyone want it!

canigooutyet · 23/06/2021 14:05

So a 17 year old who turns 18 in January won't have it because tough shit they should have demanded it at 17?

No-one is saying that the production will continue at the same rate indefinitely. When the masses have been vaccinated production will reduce.

It will still be produced and available this is what evergreen is about and suggest you read up on this.

Not that many people get the yellow fever vaccine but this doesn't mean it's not available to anyone on demand.

Chances are this will be similar to the flu jab and rather than the masses vaccinated. If you're eligible because of health you will get it for free other wise you will have to pay for it. However, this will be a very long time as there is no child version as yet.

Thewiseoneincognito · 23/06/2021 14:06

bumbleymummy · 23/06/2021 14:07

I’m really not sure how you think this works. Confused What do you think is going to happen to all the vaccine doses come august, particularly when they’re going to start boosting people.
