DS was planning to go next week to visit a friend.

He had both vaccines ages ago.

It's so shit, but what can he do?

He's just left Uni.

@EileenGC

school staff and students every 2 days, companies who still had people coming in to the offices were also required by law to test everyone twice a week.

Home tests are not accepted

School children attend a test centre every 2 days? Shock
Did they get weekends or holidays off the testing routine? Did parents get paid for time off work to take their children to the test centres? What hours were the test centres open -- how long were the Qs?

Was it only office workers who had to attend the test centre every 2 days, what about indoor staff like supermarket or warehouse workers - them too? Were companies (or govt) paying for staff time to attend the test centres?

pink thats great news for you and your family.

I guess if a 17 year old is double vaccinated then there can't be a lot of people left to do. France must have smashed that herd immunity by now!

@NannyAndJohn

The sheer nerve of the young man. This is why we are once again the laughing stock of the world. Thinking that going on a non-essential jolly is worth the risk of taking Delta to Covid-secure countries.

I could weep.

Don't be silly

France has got 46.9% and 23.8% of the population vaccinated. Not bad but I’d say far from herd immunity. And does it really help much the herd inmunity ? Few weeks ago (April) they said uk had reached only for not to be in the situation we’re at

What situation is the UK in?
Low hospitalisations and very low deaths - despite a substantial rise in Delta cases.
There will always be another new variant.

CV is here forever, if we can't open up now, we will always be in restriction, so the op's son should go because if he doesn't now, its possible he never will because unlike almost every other illness, the target seems to be zero CV deaths and infections.

Italy is now imposing 5 day quarantine for arrivals from the Uk.
