And are then contacted by track and trace, what do we have to do? ie do we need to self-isolate?

I have tried to google, but can't seem to find the answer.

Yes.

You'll need to book a test and isolate for 10 days from the date of contact (they'll tell you).

DuckyMcDuck · 09/06/2021 21:50

Thank you @DoucheCanoe

Do you have an official link with that information please?

Did they not tell you what to do or is this a hypothetical?

Here you go.

LindaEllen · 09/06/2021 21:57

Yes, and that's exactly why I won't go anywhere you have to sign in. I cannot afford to need to isolate again.

TheVampiresWife · 09/06/2021 22:05

Me and DH went to the pub on Saturday (first time since March last year!) and they told us we didn't need to leave any details/check in as we were sitting outside. We had to go inside to use the toilet though. We thought this seemed odd?

DuckyMcDuck · 09/06/2021 22:05

It's hypothetical at the moment. I'm due to go to a pub for the first time on Saturday but I cant risk having to self-isolate. All the info seems to say if you have had 'close contact' with someone who tests positive, you will need to SI.

Obviously it would be different if it's someone I go with, but I'm worried I'll be told to if it's just a stranger who happened to be in the same pub who tests +'ve

Jennyfromtheculdesac · 09/06/2021 22:08

Yeah, it’s totally bonkers because you don’t check out of venues in England either. So you could stay for 10 minutes to have a coffee somewhere and someone who comes along half an hour after you left tests positive and you have to isolate. Nuts.

Lazypuppy · 09/06/2021 22:09

You only have to isolate if you are a close contact of someone who tests positive, you would be unlikely to be contacted if it was some random person in the same pub as you

DuckyMcDuck · 09/06/2021 22:13

It does seem mad - I asked a couple of colleagues today and they said they've been giving false contact details for this exact reason - I'm NOT saying I will do that btw.

Imnothereforthedrama · 09/06/2021 22:20

That goes for going anywhere not just the pub , this track and trace has been going on for 12 months .

DuckyMcDuck · 09/06/2021 22:23

This will be the first time I will have been inside a pub/cafe/restaurant in the last however many months

It is odd. Contact details should have been taken regardless.
musicalfrog · 09/06/2021 22:33

No, close contact is closer than 2 metres for 15+ minutes so nipping to the toilet wouldn't count.

ChocOrange1 · 09/06/2021 22:45

@Imnothereforthedrama

But indoor venues which would use track and trace have only been open for a few weeks in many parts of the country. Its not hard to believe that OP hasn't been to one yet.
Watapalava · 09/06/2021 22:46

Dont check in with real details

Its not fit for purpose

Everyone who checks in 'stays checked in' until midnight or until they check in to their next venue - which ever is closest

Iv'e been going to pubs 2-3 times a week throughout whenever they've opened - don't know anyone who does the track and trace most just pretend to do it or leave false details

I've no issue being tracked for real exposure - i get full pay - but i wont isolate for being a contact of someone who went out at 9pm when i was out at 3pm

this does happen - loads of restaurants and bars have confirmed this to me

Watapalava · 09/06/2021 22:47

i should add only 10% places have asked me for track and trace details

Katie517 · 09/06/2021 22:51

You are only a contact if you have been within 2m of someone for 15mins or longer. Presumably that would only be the people you are going to the pub with as tables are spaced out for this exact reason. You wouldn’t be contacted if someone else in the pub tested positive who you hadn’t been close to. Also I don’t know anyone who actually checks in, most people just pretend to scan the app....

Watapalava · 09/06/2021 22:57

Katie the app only updates at midnight or at your next check in so i think it depends

pub staff have told me written details (many dont have app inc myself) are handed over for all people who visited that day

i agree most pretend or give fake

LouLou198 · 09/06/2021 23:02

This is why we have been reluctant or go anywhere. I can't afford time off work and don't want dc to miss anymore school. Definitely won't be now after I have learnt on this thread that you could be traced from someone who came into the same place hours after you left. Absolute madness!!

Swishswish26 · 09/06/2021 23:19

Nobody I know checks in on the app, they just leave false details if asked to provide it on paper.
Like everyone says, the app keeps you ‘checked in’ so if you went to the pub at 1pm but someone came in at 8pm and later had a positive test, you could still be asked to isolate. Complete madness.

Watapalava · 09/06/2021 23:32

Lou Lou

Don’t let it put you off

Most places don’t ask because honestly they don’t care they just want the business

You can pretend to scan through your camera - since last summer not one has checked

If they take your details by pen then just leave fake

It’s honestly not an issue

Like I say everyone does it and pubs and restaurants know they just play lip service to it

Even my kids know to give fake details now

Watapalava · 09/06/2021 23:33

Before anyone kicks off - anyone at a pubs if seated on tables 2m apart so no one - inc waiting staff - are near you for 15 mins/2 metres so no one should be a contact

HarrietOh · 09/06/2021 23:35

I’ve been checking into various places on the app last year and past few weeks. I highly doubt everyone who checked into the pub that day is contacted and has to isolate?!
