Just that really I also posted this on Aibu but posted here as well to maximise traffic?

Hell yes. I'll even let my pre teens.
Read the science. It's perfectly safe ... I bet all these parents saying know haven't been near the chemistry behind the jabs.

Hangingtrousers · 05/06/2021 09:21

*no
Damn it.

Getawaywithit · 05/06/2021 09:25

Yes. My youngest is type 1 diabetic.

Zgran · 05/06/2021 09:25

Yes

PurpleSunrise · 05/06/2021 09:26

@Pinkchocolate

No. DH and I have had both vaccines because we believe the benefits outweigh the risks. My children 17 and 19 won’t be, it’s too soon and too much of a risk.
@Pinkchocolate isn’t that up to them to decide at their ages? Or is that what you mean?
Pinkchocolate · 05/06/2021 09:31

@ravelston ultimately it’s her decision. We discussed it as a family and I explained why I was uncomfortable with my teens having it but they need to decide for themselves. I’m far from anti-vax and have lost family members to Covid but I just feel they are too young to take the risk. They have covid tests regularly and are quite responsible so have stayed away from vulnerable if they’ve had so much as a cold.

Pinkchocolate · 05/06/2021 09:32

@PurpleSunrise yes, I should have been clear. It’s their decision but I wouldn’t have been happy if they’d wanted it and definitely wouldn’t be asking them to have it.

Watapalava · 05/06/2021 09:43

15&14 no

No healthy kids 12-15 have died so why take even a 1:xxxmillion chance of severe side effects

I don’t know a single child who’s been ill with covid and I know dozens who’ve had it

My kids will not be vaccinated to protect those who can’t be arsed

Israel has protected adults without vaccinating kids

rainbowunicorn · 05/06/2021 09:44

@PiccalilliChilli

My daughter will decide for herself at 16, when our consent isn't necessary. She currently 14 and 3/4.
Your consent is not neccessary now, assuming your daughter is a NT 14 year old. She can consent for herself.
LeafBeetle · 05/06/2021 09:45

Yes

Wakemeuuuup · 05/06/2021 09:49

Yes

Getawaywithit · 05/06/2021 09:55

No healthy kids 12-15 have died so why take even a 1:xxxmillion chance of severe side effects. I don’t know a single child who’s been ill with covid and I know dozens who’ve had it

And the unhealthy kids? Why do they not matter? Why would you not have your kids vaccinated to help protect the kids who might struggle with covid that your kids are in school with?

RiskyReels · 05/06/2021 09:56

Yes absolutely dd14 and she's keen to have it. Concerned about long covid, further disruption to schooling and socialising if the new variants continue to circulate through schools. And it is the right thing to do, to help reduce virus transmission in general for our country and others. The more virus there is circulating, the more chance of mutations and nastier variants emerging. And I can't understand why people are willing to take the risk of unknown long term complications from a new virus, that is known to have weird effects across many organs and systems in the body and high prevalence of long covid, rather than the absolutely tiny risk of vaccine complications. If the chance to protect my kids comes up, I'll jump at it.

MaggieMagpie357 · 05/06/2021 10:07

@Watapalava you are aware that children can pass it on though? It's not only about getting ill, it's about transmission.

MRex · 05/06/2021 10:07

@nether

My teens were approved for vaccination in early April (added to cat 6) and we are still waiting for Pfizer to become available in this part of London.

I have emailed, texted and repeatedly rung GP with no result, and am at my wits end.

You can't use online booking or open queue ups for u18s

It drives me crazy to see talk of extending age groups even lower, when they are still unable to offer all cat 6 the jab.

Your GP is useless, because they could have arranged for your kids to be booked into another clinic in the area, or got a small delivery arranged. Complain to your CCG, it is up to them to deal with a GP who isn't following the processes. (And consider if it's a GP you want to stay with.)
gingercat02 · 05/06/2021 10:07

DS will be 13 in the autumn. I would want him to and will be encouraging him if it becomes available but I think I will let him decide. He has never had a choice re vaccs and is currently waiting to have his HPV (which he doesn't want). I have had both of my Covid vaccs (NHS Pfizer) and DH has literally just left for his 2nd (AZ). Don't know why I feel differently about this one 🤔

Watapalava · 05/06/2021 10:07

I don’t care if kids pass it on

It’s adults who suffer serious and moderate infection and they can take the vaccine like I have

Watapalava · 05/06/2021 10:08

Vulnerable kids can take vaccine

Greenbriar · 05/06/2021 10:11

I would like my DD (age 12) to have the Pfizer vaccine. I saw some of you said your children already had it, if you're in the UK can I ask how to arrange vaccination?

MaggieMagpie357 · 05/06/2021 10:15

@Watapalava you're aware that most of the people current hospitalised with Covid have chosen not to have the vaccine right?

Watapalava · 05/06/2021 10:21

Exactly my point

I won’t vaccinate my kids (who have almost zero chance of any illness with covid) just to protect people who refused the vaccine.
If all adults take vaccine then kids wouldn’t need it

All bodies agree vaccinating children is purely for society - gov, scientists and JCVI all day it’s an ethical dilemma due to the lack of benefit to them

In Bolton some postcodes have an uptake of 40% and their ph body chair is calling for kids - no shit - how about stop burying their heads in the sand and come out and target those groups directly rather than asking kids to carry the can

AledsiPad · 05/06/2021 10:21

Definitely not, it’s entirely unnecessary.

Watapalava · 05/06/2021 10:22

I am not anti vaccine

I’ve had both AZ and I’m mid 40s and have no regrets

But kids do not need it

MaggieMagpie357 · 05/06/2021 10:24

@Watapalava I do not understand your point at all. You seem to have completely conflicting views in one post 🤷🏼‍♀️

RedcurrantPuff · 05/06/2021 10:25

Yes if they want it

They are their own people and I don’t own them
