Anyway, as you were. Back to the data!

EasterIssland · 26/05/2021 16:07

77 More cases n hospital than last week
2.8k more cases of Covid as well

Bordois · 26/05/2021 16:11

Well, we knew numbers would start to rise as lockdown eased. Is there a consensus as to what numbers should be "tolerated" and when we should get concerned?

Thelm · 26/05/2021 16:13

Are numbers rising because lockdown has eased or are numbers rising due to the new variant?

IFuckedUpAlas · 26/05/2021 16:14

I think it might be both

Thelm · 26/05/2021 16:19

Because cases are still falling in my area despite most things being open. We don’t have many (or any) cases of the new variant.

I hope we can contain this thing to acceptable levels. My worry is hospitalisations and deaths going back up.

Bordois · 26/05/2021 16:26

It looks to me as if the higher numbers are still being contained within the same areas so its likely the IV driving it. My county and area has been slowly dropping despite IV being the dominant strain here.

Let's hope "containment" continues

boys3 · 26/05/2021 16:26

Lot of cases reported in the Lancashire districts for Monday. 190 vs 74 for Monday 17th (as fully reported).

West Lancs and Wyre the exception with 3 cases between them, same as last week.

Bolton looks a lot more positive

Back in the South East 53 cases in Reigate and Banstead from Monday, initially creeping up from mid last week. 38 cases in total between 1st and 18th May; 89 in the last 7 days. School?

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 26/05/2021 17:02

Going on what is happening local to me. I wonder if we are also seeing the EID after effect now too. We have whole families off school with covid now. Which travelling about socialising. Even missed a couple of days school before EID to prepare and travel.

One friend went from London to Manchester and Birmingham. Plus heaven knows were else.

Also friend of mine was telling me her mates husband got a positive LFT the day before a family party. Then did a second that was negative. So off they went to the party ☹ Apparently now some of the other people there have got covid. The man is saying it can't be because of him as second test was negative. Seriously Confused

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 26/05/2021 17:04

Oh and the parents of the silly man won't be having the jab because they have bad asthma. Apparently they are worried it will make that worse or something 😳

MargaretThursday · 26/05/2021 17:07

Lot of cases reported in the Lancashire districts for Monday. 190 vs 74 for Monday 17th
Fylde has 18 cases reported today. They haven't been anywhere near double figures for ages.

Cummings is reminding me of someone I unfortunately know. It's never their fault even if you see them do it. And if you call them out on it you're bullying them. They're always so hard done by, and misunderstood.

Thanks for new thread

boys3 · 26/05/2021 17:40

Weekly case movement by region.

Above the diagonal red line increase as compared with previous week; below it decreasing.

Horizontal green line at 25 per 100,000 - below that, irrespective of movement taken as "good"

I was on a teams call today for work about organising an event in the Autumn. Everyone seemed spooked about whether it was going to happen or if we were going to end up in another lockdown.

I think a lot of what DC said sounds quite likely to be true. Just my thoughts though!

Oh I think so too but read this. It sums up the situation very well.

I think so too. It’s just one arsehole trying to look like the best out of a bunch of arseholes so spinning the truth to his advantage.
boys3 · 26/05/2021 18:29

Just to emphasise the point about a lot of Council areas yo-yoing a bit from week to week but remaining at relatively low levels this is the same as the regional graph but for the county council areas.

All bar Lancashire below that 25 per 100,000 rate. Lancashire quite an outlier.

and one for the remaining UTLA with a rate up to 60 per 100,000. As there are quite a few of them they are not named on the graph itself but I think you will all get the general gist.

and those quite limited number of Councils with a latest rate over 60 per 100,000. Bit of a different scale needed.

Bedford now vaccinating anyone over 18 of they book along with someone over 50. Interesting strategy!

JanFebAnyMonth · 26/05/2021 20:14

Interesting. I wonder what the logic is. Increase takeup at both ends of the scales?

NuttyinNotts · 26/05/2021 20:23

Buy one, get one free!

Do you think it's aimed at multi generational households? Certainly our local strategy has heavily pushed people living in those circumstances to self identify as carers, I've noticed quite different wording on social media info about eligibility for the vaccine bus at sites for BAME community centres vs. other venues.
