I've had a reply from the ComCov2 people as follows:
*Thank you for your email. This issue is being reported by a number of participants, but unfortunately it is beyond the control of individual study sites such as ourselves. We are waiting in anticipation for any further information that we can provide to you.
We now have details of the contact point for individual queries regarding COVID Passes on the NHS App: www.nhs.uk/contact-us/nhs-app-contact-us/. Please do make use of this service.
The latest NIHR update and positioning on COVID vaccine status can be found on the Be Part of Research FAQs page, with links to the most current government guidance.
In view of the rapidly changing landscape of rules affecting national and international travel, we have liaised with the Com-COV2 Trial Steering Committee and decided to take a pragmatic approach to participants remaining blinded in this study. This means that, for the moment, most participants will remain blinded to the vaccines they have received. However, should it become apparent that an individual is being significantly disadvantaged by remaining blinded (which includes a need to travel internationally), then they can contact their study site to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of being unblinded.
If you were to be unblinded, and found that you had received a licenced vaccine, we would be able to add this to the national database such that it would appear in the NHS app and give you a second QR code. However, one third of participants in this study received the Novavax vaccine, which is currently unlicenced in the UK. This means that if you were unblinded and found to have received the Novavax vaccine, we would not be able to add this to the NHS app. Unfortunately, there is no way around this until the vaccine is licenced. We would only be able to provide an unblinding letter confirming that you received this vaccine.*
I plan to ask for unblinding in time to have another vaccine 2 weeks before my holiday. I liked their underlining emphasis
