Anyone not having vaccine , why aren't you?

LazyDaisy10 · 20/05/2021 09:37

Is anyone not having the vaccine and what are your reasons? Im in my 30s I'm not having the vaccine because I'm worried about the long term effects that might not come to light for a few years. Why are you not having it?
If you think the vaccine is amazing and anyone not having it is selfish you probably don't need to comment.

This thread really is something else

@EmmaOvary

Christ, this thread is a fucking cesspit.
Isn't it just? I despair.
Cinclus · 20/05/2021 21:24

"OMG that poor Andrew Wakefield was sacked!"

Blind ignorance.

Stitched77 · 20/05/2021 22:27

I don't debate or discuss this with anyone. None of anyone's business.

Everyone should decide what they want for their body.

Anyone who is still scared has had 15 months to reorganise their life so that they can cower at home in fear forever. Up to them if they do that. What they don't get to do is wander round the place demanding that others do X, Y and Z in order to satisfy their hysteria.

Sorry if that sounds SELFISH (the buzzword of 2020) but it is ok to be selfish about one's body and I don't think the scared will help me out with my bills if I get a vaccine injury will they?

Abraxan · 20/05/2021 22:52

@katylees

How many children vulnerable or not have died of covid in the Uk under 16 *@Abraxan*
Death isn't necessarily the issue for these children. It's more about how ill they may become at the time, or long covid issues too.

But they were only one group I mentioned also.

1dayatatime · 20/05/2021 23:09

Your body your choice- other than that I'm not sure what purpose this post will serve.

BanditoShipman · 21/05/2021 00:01

@MotherOfGodWeeFella

You're exhaustingly wrong on so many things.
So, so true.

I had no idea people like this even existed. Everyone I know has either had the vaccine or wants to as soon as it reaches their age group... thank god I don’t hang around with thick people.

Torvean · 21/05/2021 05:56

@Wildswim

I'm not having it. I've had Covid so have immunity.

Plus it's still in trial stage and no-one knows the long term effects.

You know ppl have had Covid twice. There's no proof of immunity from maybe a mild infection. You could catch another strain and become seriously. I wouldn't brag as you'll look like a fool if you get it again.

It's not in trial stage you wally - it's been approved for use.
FedNlanders · 21/05/2021 07:14

People say about longer term effects, well many things we do will also be the same. Stuff people use now is still new to being used at the way it is used now. Botox/implants/fillers etc not to mention chemicals in hair dye and make up etc and things like contraception has been around for years but there also has not been proper studies done on womens health either. The vaccine probably has more certainty than all of these things.

Lucidas · 21/05/2021 07:23

Virtually all politicians, scientists and the 1.5bn people who have received the vaccine will shortly drop dead from its unknown side effects. As a result, only the sane people who have refused the vaccine will be left alive to rule the world.

Yeah...that's exactly what's going to happen.

Lala134 · 21/05/2021 07:34

@MotherOfGodWeeFella

It is emergency approved only, not fully approved. All finish the trials in 2023

clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04516746
clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04368728

Lala134 · 21/05/2021 07:35

And for those talking about reinfection apparently it's only 5% 95% have long lasting immunty after a natural infection

coffeeandjuice · 21/05/2021 07:44

Not read all of the comments, but if you're worried about what goes into your body you should definitely get the vaccine.

4ml of vaccine is far lower than the chemicals you may have to get pumped with if you end up very ill.

Getting a vaccine can be scary and a big decision but it is like insurance against needing a greater influx of medication.

Pfizer applied for full FDA approval a few weeks ago. It's highly likely that Pfizer and Moderna will be fully approved this year.

That would require critical thinking skills which some of the posters on this thread seem to completely lack.

I agree with PP who said this thread is a cesspit. It's equal parts infuriating and embarrassing to read.

I just hope the ones spouting the absolute fucking bollocks grade nonsense aren't in any positions of responsibility where they might impact my life.

Parker231 · 21/05/2021 07:59

@Crispychillibeef - I agree but don’t know any anti vaxxers in real life. My family and friends have either all had the vaccine or as in the case of 21 year old DT’s are waiting for their turn.

What a wild ride this thread is... am mainly agog at poor @Pumperthepumper being a code word for prostitution Shock

110APiccadilly · 21/05/2021 08:05

I'm breastfeeding and low risk from Covid, so my personal risk assessment is that I won't have it until I'm no longer breastfeeding. There's an additional advantage that by that time we'll probably have more knowledge about side effects.

Yeah, that was weird! Well, a prostitute or a fire fighter.

Getting Covid twice is very rare. Immunity does come from a mild (or even asymptomatic) infection. I am proof of that. I had Covid asymptomatically last year and had antibodies to it 8 months later. Anyone who has had Covid asymptomatically or mildly has put up a very strong immune response and will have antibodies and/or CD4+, CD8+ and memory B cells months later. It's quite likely they will still have T and B cell memory years later. This isn't fiction but a reality.

CrunchyCarrot · 21/05/2021 08:21

Educate yourselves about immune responses to this virus by reading this paper by two top researchers in the field, Alessandro Sette and Shane Crotty. They have analysed masses of data and are my go-to source for most things Covid-related.
