Note this is not an anti vaccination thread.

I do monthly antibody tests as part of a trial - had first AZ in feb and still had S antibodies when I tested last week Smile

TulipVictory · 14/06/2021 10:24

@whataballbag have you just had one vaccine ?

whataballbag · 14/06/2021 10:27

Yes just one AZ in feb

AppleJane · 14/06/2021 10:55

@whataballbag and @GentlemanJackie that's interesting to hear about antibodies. Going to try and encourage DP to have the test now!

@Grellbunt I've read the article. Makes everything perfectly clear why they're practically forcing AZ on those over 40 in Scotland 😤

penni00 · 14/06/2021 11:47

@whataballbag
What do you mean by S antibodies, does this mean high level?

whataballbag · 14/06/2021 12:09

They don't tell you the level. S antibodies are spike protein antibodies (after vaccine). They look for N antibodies too which I'm assuming is natural after infection, I didn't have those though

Jabbinell · 14/06/2021 12:20

I did this test 2 weeks after my 1st AZ in March and i had antibodies. Its for vaccination and post infection

@daytimeknitter

It's relevant to the thread because this is a discussion about the risk being of blood clots associated with a particular covid vaccine. I have no inside information but the possibility of Christian Eriksen's collapse to his recent vaccination is being widely and internationally discussed on MSM. This is a high profile incident that I thought worthy of comment. Didn't intend to derail or upset.
My apologies - I didn't know he had recently had the vaccine.

@whataballbag
Thank you. Can I ask, was in more beg of Feb or more end Feb when you had your first dose?

@ajandjjmum actually I read at the weekend that Eriksen's agent was saying he hadn't had a vaccine nor Covid.

But it is easy to worry about the wider affects. My parents heard today that a friend of theirs has just died of a stroke. I must admit, knowing she had AZ, that it was the first thing I thought of. I doubt we will ever know in some cases.

ajandjjmum · 14/06/2021 15:29

Sorry to hear that AppleJane - such a shock. My DF had a very serious stroke at 59 which changed his life forever - although he lived until nearly 80.

Selfishly, I'm glad that Eriksen appears not to have had the jab, as I think we are all double thinking everything anyway - and I do believe that would have impacted the views of many people. I volunteer at a jab clinic - yesterday was 25-30 year olds getting in asap, but still a fair few older people who had just built up the courage to get a jab. Surprising how many are really scared of the actual injection rather than the side effects.

penni00 · 14/06/2021 15:38

Does anyone know if NHS vac centres can see your full medical records, including GP notes

ajandjjmum · 14/06/2021 16:31

I don't know @penni00 but I think they just fill in your info like booking ref., NHS No. etc., and don't have access to your medical history. I'm there tomorrow - I'll try and remember to ask.

SheilaTakeABow · 14/06/2021 17:17

For those who haven't had their second jabs, can I ask who you're talking to, in terms of HCWs, about it, if anyone?

So far, I've been burying my head in the sand a bit, hoping each week that the MHRA stats would make the situation clearer. But they haven't particularly.

I spoke to a nurse at the vaccination centre when I originally cancelled, who gave me short shrift (side effects are so rare, none after second case, more chance of a clot on a flight, etc etc) but that's it.

I feel I don't want to necessarily bother my GP, especially as I have a history of health anxiety/over-reaction, but I'm not sure what else to do.

To be honest, if it were down to me, I'd just leave it; I still have antibodies from my original infection, which, combined with a jab, most scientists say offers full protection.

However, with the UK pursuing the two-jabs-or-bust approach, I am conscious that, by this measure, I am not fully vaccinated, which could have an impact on travel or even employment.

How is anyone else approaching it?

penni00 · 14/06/2021 18:07

@ ajandjjmum
Thank you that would be handy to know anyway.

119 told me that the nhs vac centre would be able to see my GP notes about my conversation with my GP where my GP said I could have Pfizer as my second dose. I am doubtful this is the case, but it is irrelevant now because I have just contacted the surgery receptionist and the GP has not logged my AZ side effects and has not logged how he said I could have a Pfizer.

@penni00 wtf is your GP playing at?! How frustrating. Can you try another?

penni00 · 14/06/2021 19:09

The GP is the senior partner and the most experienced one there, I waited many weeks for the phone call appointment. I despair. I really am at the end of my tether now, never felt depressed like this:(
I feel damaged by AZ and now abandoned with huge barriers to get my Covid protection.

Roonerspismed · 14/06/2021 19:11

I received a call from my GP today asking when I wanted the vaccine. AZ or nothing thanks

whataballbag · 14/06/2021 19:12

@Nofriend

Interesting that you had antibodies after your first jab in feb I had my first in jan was negative for antibodies last month (this was a private test) I’m going a government antibody test next week. I won’t be having a 2nd AZ was offered Pfizer but still unsure as the trials have only been on a small number over 50 years old
I wonder if the tests are different?

This is the email that came on 2nd June (very quickly as I only filled the vial and posted on the 1st!)

penni00 · 14/06/2021 19:13

I am not even sure if it is safe to get another vaccine dose even of a different kind when I still have side effects from AZ, the constant tingling, wobby on legs etc is a constant reminder that AZ is present in my body - how would my body take to even a pfizer on top of this. There seems to be no help for these sort of complications from the vaccines.
It is jab and go. 'Go' meaning the doctors going!!!

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 14/06/2021 19:42

That's dreadful, Penni. I'm sorry you're in such an uncertain position and still struggling from your first AZ. It's not right at all. I wonder what they would do at the vaccination centre if you were to turn up and report your ongoing side effects?

penni00 · 14/06/2021 19:56

I just don't know - that is the problem. I can't even find out where the Pfizer/Modernas are locally. GP/119 both don't know. I would have to get a relative to take time off work to take me, which could well be a waste of his time, if only AZ was available or if the centre refused anything other than AZ. I am nervous of being with someone outside of my household on a long journey for catching Covid reasons, plus I find the whole vaccination experience difficult so I don't want to do it all for nothing. I could have to try it , book and attend, several times to even find a centre offering the right vaccine. Another poster has given me an idea of another route to try (CCG). So, that is my next step, a task for another day.
So grateful for all those people posting to me on here, thank you.

penni00 · 14/06/2021 20:00

@Nofriend

Did you have problems with your AZ first dose?
Who offered you Pfizer? GP?
