@Carriemac We have a different app called 'Patient Access' which does a similar thing, although my second jab hasn't shown up there yet but has on the NHS one.

My registration was really quick but I think that is because I already use the other App recommended by our GP so maybe 'pre approved' for app use?

BentBastard · 16/05/2021 10:55

@kindlekeeper

I have the app but have an error saying gp has to give permissions. Gp doesn’t have any idea so I’m stuck being approved but gp records not accessible. Anyone else resolved this?

I got that when I first downloaded the app several weeks ago but just checked now and I can noe access all feature. I didn't do anything, just suddenly became available.

NotBot · 16/05/2021 10:57

We have patient access too, it’s fab! No more spending hours on hold to the GP. Book appointments, do repeat prescriptions, see test results 🙌🏼 Also linked to my two young DD’s so I can book them appointments etc too. My vaccine is on there & I had it yesterday!

I also have the NHS app, very similar except I can’t book appointments on there.

I don’t understand the worry about personal data. I have nothing to hide.. feel free to read about my trials & tribulations with asthma all you want!

Exactly right. We have had patient access for a few years, and all bookings, repeat prescriptions etc are easily done via this. If you already have it, the NHS App will connect with your provider and you should get your vaccine status immediately.

It is well worth having a patient access account, there are several to choose from, it doesn't really matter which one, they all link to your NHS account.

Another reason you may have an issue is if you "opted out" of access to health records a few years ago. There was a big kerfuffle about access to patient records by third parties, and some people opted out. If you did this, then you will have to opt back in.

TheAlphaandtheOmega · 16/05/2021 11:53

I think the personal data that people worry about is stuff like date of birth, I don't like putting that into a site and if it is just something like a shopping site I put in a fake one, obviously I couldn't with this as it was for ID purposes, The NHS isn't the best with it's computer systems.

CrunchyCarrot · 16/05/2021 12:09

@Carriemac

I'm Surprised how many people don't. Have the app- how do you order prescriptions? Our suit her only has one very inconvenient hour a day when you can phone .
By phoning my pharmacy. I have an arrangement with them to deliver my prescriptions (thankfully not needing anything currently). But my past repeating presecriptions, all I had to do was phone when my current pack was coming to an end and they'd get in touch with my GP for approval then I'd get the item delivered a couple of days later. That doesn't work for all pharmaceuticals (e.g. Diazepam you have to speak to a GP each time) but it's fine for other things on repeat.

I don't have a smartphone so no apps for me. Smile

gratedbeetroot · 16/05/2021 13:02

Does anyone know if the certificate is stored on your phone i.e. if you don’t have data on your phone will you be able to open the app to show vaccination status in a place without free WiFi? I’m on payg and don’t use data at all. I’m not in England so can’t test it out yet.

I either phone my dr during opening hours or ask the chemist next door to the surgery to.

In fact the chemist phoned me because they noticed we hadn’t ordered ds’s repeat migraine meds for a while.

Newname9 · 16/05/2021 16:45

I had mine on Friday and it says it can't find any record - maybe too soon?

rosie1959 · 16/05/2021 17:14

Newname9 I think it takes a few working days

Bells3032 · 16/05/2021 17:14

@Newname9 I was told it would take a few days when I had mine. Esp as hasn't even been one working day yet. I'd give it some more time

Newname9 · 16/05/2021 17:15

Oh that makes sense - will check again in the week ! Thank you

Suranjeep · 16/05/2021 17:19

My mum has a repeat prescrption, she simply gets a reorder slip in with the pills she then puts into the doctors for the next batch. No app needed

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 16/05/2021 17:30

@Newname9 I had mine yesterday morning and it was there yesterday evening.

WombatChocolate · 16/05/2021 17:42

I was jabbed yesterday morning (2nd) and downloaded the app in the afternoon. Yesterday just my first jab showed but this morning they were both there....although I also received a text from my surgery (automated) reminding me to book my jab, which makes me think they must have thought I didn't attend my appt yesterday. I suspect some vaccine centres upload the data faster than others and that's why there are some differences. I know that if the App shows I've had 2 jabs, my surgery will also know too now.

Watapalava · 16/05/2021 17:45

wander why some had to use photo? i just registered with name and dob - didn't even have nhs number but it found me and vaccine shows. I wander if the ID is if people asked for photo or fingerprint log on? I have to log in each time using email and password?

I use Face ID for the app but I suspect it is more likely because I haven't visited the GP for years, I did worry that I was still registered but I am as I got my first jab ok
Kyph · 17/05/2021 08:51

I've had this app for a while. It's useful because, with surgery permission, you can view scan /test results and you can message surgery. More than the usual prescription ordering app. However the specific covid vaccine status popped up yesterday. It was there previously but buried under another category.
I still can't book appointments though. GP removed online appointments last year and still insist on phone triage first.

Kyph · 17/05/2021 08:54

Patient Access isn't available through all GPs. I went through all the faff of signing up only to be told my surgery doesn't accept it. The NHS app does most of the same though.

You don't understand why people want their private health information to be secure? HmmBiscuit

Let's hope you don't work for the NHS

Bells3032 · 17/05/2021 09:44

The photo and Id is for access to your medical record. If you just want your covid jab info I think it's just on the main page now (previously was only through medical records) so you only need your email and password

TheAlphaandtheOmega · 17/05/2021 10:50

I can't see any covid jab on mine just a large banner about prove my identity. I sent off the photo and video yesterday which will take up to 7 days

I couldn't get at anything until my photo was approved - and surely your vaccination status is part of your medical record anyway so should be subject to the same protection?

@TheAlphaandtheOmega I had the '7 days' email but it was approved minutes later. Only then could I see my vaccination status.

Or in any position that holds people’s data or any kind.

There are reasons why there are rules on this kind of thing And large fines for data leaks. Nothing to do with having things to hide.

I think it must be more random than that.

I didn’t have to give photo ID, just my NHS number and date of birth. I have my recent medical records (but my vaccination status is wrong).

Dh, same GP as me, had to give photo ID. He has medical records and the correct vaccination status.
