If you had decided not to have the AZ vaccination, has the Indian variant changed your mind?

Or if you’d decided not to have your 2nd dose are you now going to go ahead and get it? Because it’s looking like the only way we’re getting out of this is for everybody who possibly can to get fully vaccinated.
Seeing all the people on the news this morning in Bolton who’ve been eligible for a vaccination for for months but for whatever reason haven’t bothered (apparently there’s 10,000 in Bolton alone) has really surprised me. Now they’ve realised they’re at risk they’re all rushing to get done. Bit late though and potentially this surge of cases could have been avoided.

I'm 37 and had my first AZ jab, really unsure if to have my second at the end of the month or not now.

MercyBooth · 15/05/2021 20:24

@SweetPetrichor Same here. I was refused the Pill at 24 due to the risk of blood clots

Silvercatowner · 15/05/2021 20:25

Shocked at those who say they won't get vaccinated at all. Wtf is wrong with you

No arguing with stupid.

baldafrique · 15/05/2021 20:26

If you end up being treated in hospital for COVID related complications, you'll be on various medications that have all been tested on animals though including newer drugs more recently tested

baldafrique · 15/05/2021 20:27

(I do understand the vegan argument against the vaccine though, the production of the vaccine makes for very bleak reading)

KaleSlayer · 15/05/2021 20:29

What, those smokers whose cigarette taxes go towards the NHS? Great comparison.

I pay tax. My partner earns a high 6 figure salary and pays a huge amount tax, more than most people in this country pay. We have had private healthcare for 10 years so haven’t cost the NHS much at all in that time.

Thank goodness the NHS doesn’t discriminate and isn’t run by dim people.

baldafrique · 15/05/2021 20:31

That makes it OK then to unnecessarily use healthcare Grin Whatever helps you feel better about your little stand I guess.

MercyBooth · 15/05/2021 20:32

Loving the Tory voters on this board who wang on about community yet you know they wouldnt give a homeless person the steam off their piss.

MercyBooth · 15/05/2021 20:34

Jesus its like a cult.

I had this conversation with my partner and one of my children. Honestly, I wouldn’t really want treatment due to my views. But, I also chose to have children before being vegan and developing the views I have now, so I have a responsibility to be here for them if at all possible. I really don’t know what I would do if I was seriously ill with covid. I keep myself really healthy, but I know this may not be enough. It’s difficult but I do feel very strongly about this issue.

Was that aimed at me?

namechanged984630 · 15/05/2021 20:36

@Covywovy I find your logic so confusing. You say you know the vast majority are ok with covid but an even greater majority are ok with the vaccine.

MercyBooth · 15/05/2021 20:38

Me being child free by choice has saved the NHS some money

baldafrique · 15/05/2021 20:38

Having the vaccine could well reduce your overall potential medication use - worth thinking about anyway. I know some vegans who have decided to approach it that way. I guess some depends on how well you think you can reduce likelihood of being exposed to COVID going forward eg lifestyle / work / social factors.

KaleSlayer · 15/05/2021 20:40

I presume it was aimed at me. I wasn’t the one who brought up tax. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Just that those who think they should get treatment for lung cancer because they have paid tax on cigarettes. Most people do not pay enough tax for to cover the amount they cost the NHS. Like I say, the NHS doesn’t discriminate. Thank goodness as poor people wouldn’t be treated.

KaleSlayer · 15/05/2021 20:43

I work at home, have a reasonably small social circle and I keep myself fit. Who knows. I’m just doing what I think is right, like everyone else.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 15/05/2021 20:47

@KaleSlayer it hadn't occurred to me before this thread what a tough choice it must be for vegans. I hope your DC comes round eventually.

PaulGallico · 15/05/2021 20:47

This thread and other very similar threads seem to comprise of the same 4 or 5 people who don't want to have a covid vaccine shouting at those who have had the vaccine. Resorting to calling posters 'stupid' or 'dim', trying to impress us with husbands who earn a 6 figure salary (still not sure why). Its just a tiny number of people spouting nonsense.

AvaAvocado · 15/05/2021 20:51

She was hardly doing that, was she? 🙄

Thank you. They’re just concerned. which I completely understand. It’s also brought up other uncomfortable conversations about what would happen if I was ill with something else and whether I’d accept treatment. If I had the views I have now, 20 years ago, I wouldn’t have had children, as I completely understand I maybe can’t just let myself die and leave them without a mum. But it’s definitely a conflict in my head.
Thank you for being so kind, I have had a fair bit of negativity from others over this. I completely understand their concerns, which makes it even harder. In real life, I tend to just avoid the topic now as people have strong views and I don’t really want to argue, but I do believe in my principles.

millenialblush · 15/05/2021 20:55

No. I'm not scared of Covid. The introduction of the Indian Variant scaremongering campaign just happens to be at the same time the younger vaccine groups are being targeted (the ones who will be more resistant to getting the jab), and the lifting of lockdown. Its not a coincidence. Many people have been predicting this narrative since March 2020. It's a load of BS, we are being played.

Pan2 · 15/05/2021 21:01

Blimey. What a depressing number of posters with a vision not extending beyond their own noses.

KaleSlayer · 15/05/2021 21:02

PaulGallico

Please read my posts. I was simply responding to others who were questioning whether unvaccinated people were worthy of treatment. Apparently smokers are worthy because they’ve paid tax. I was pointing out that if paying tax was a reason to get treatment, then we’ve paid a lot.

And I said thankfully the amount of tax paid isn’t a deciding factor here on whether or not you get treatment. Everyone is equal when it comes to getting treatment on the NHS and that should never change.

But if you want to twist what I’ve said, then whatever.

KaleSlayer · 15/05/2021 21:05

She was hardly doing that, was she?

Thank you. I really wasn’t. But appreciate you saying that. Smile

DroopyDaff · 15/05/2021 21:08

So what’s reported to be happening in India is a scaremongering campaign Confused @millenialblush. Hope all those crisis actors were paid a decent wage.

Of course viruses don’t mutate to become more contagious and the mutation couldn’t possibly have found it way here could it? It’s all a big con.

IIRC didn’t the Spanish flu mutate into a more virulent form causing deaths in younger people?

The more fools there are that refuse the vaccine, the more it will be able to mutate even further.
