I'm due to have my 2nd dose later on today.

I'm 24.

I don't know whether I should start again with a different vaccine.

@Wellbythebloodyhell

My what?

Could be due to my under lying illnesses however

Your words OP???? PP was just asking you what the underlying illnesses are that you are saying you have.

This is all a bit strange tbh Confused

No. She asked what my underlying issues were.

@Wellbythebloodyhell

*Thank you but I can. She checked with her manager and can book me in*

Good luck with that one Biscuit
Expect to be turned away from the vaccination site though.

Thank you. I'll do that.

@newnortherner111

I think you made the right decision to have the 2nd dose, OP. Why you were able to have a vaccine earlier than most 24 year olds is none of our business.
Thank you very much. Smile

I would continue if you didn't have a reaction to the first. My friend's mum experienced anaphylactic shock after her first dose of Pfizer. You don't know how you'd react to another vaccine, while you do know you were ok with the AZ. We are all different and I'd base my decision on your own personal experience, which in your case seems to be positive.

Walkaround · 16/05/2021 08:41

@user77hjjy - have you spoken to your doctor? Why ask randoms on the internet? You have no choices open to you that do not involve risk. Mixing vaccines is a risk, only having one jab is a risk. Millions of people have had 2 doses of the AZ vaccine, so that is actually the most tried and tested risk out of your options.

webuiltthiscityonrockandwheat · 16/05/2021 08:57

I have my second booked for next week. I'm 32 and nervous but not because of blood clots. I'm worried I'll be unwell again and I have a newborn to look after. Feeling hopeful after people have said they didn't react to the second one though

Wellbythebloodyhell · 16/05/2021 09:41

No. She asked what my underlying issues were

So if you understood the question why did you answer with My what?

And have you decided to go for your second AZ or are you still under the illusion you can start again and opt for a Pfizer vaccine instead?

Op you asked what my point was re risk.

Very simple one.

Your risk of dying from many, many things you do every year or even every day is much higher than your risk of developing a fatal blood clot from having the AZ jab. Unless you have some medical condition such as a clotting disorder that personally makes the jab more risky for you.

By all means make your own calculation of risk but I do hope you've got either an actuarial or statistical background otherwise you're just doing it on the feelz.

Thanks.

I was quite ill after my first jab but not in terms of blood clots.

Most things involve risk. I'm weighing up the risk.
My doctor doesn't have appointments for 10 working days and that is a telephone consultation.

Yeah I'm in a similar position.

Not newborn but single parent with 0 support so it is worrying.

How long were you ill for after your first jab?

I don't know what pp means by underlying issues, I don't have issues.

I'm weighing up choices. Spoke to the doctor there.

Yeah. That won't / didn't happen. Can you imagine the furore if vaccination sites suddenly started giving people combinations of drugs that were UNLICENCED. Which this would be.

Someone somewhere is telling porkies...

It has happened, thanks.

Which is why we weigh up risks and make choices based on those risks.

I have my second AZ on Tuesday. I'm 28. For me the risks outweigh the cons and I'll be having my second dose.

I'm sorry, you've lost me, Op. Do you mean you do have underlying issues?? If so why not call a spade a spade. Why the need to be so vaguebook???

lalafafa · 16/05/2021 21:46

@titchy

UCOinanOCG You can't start over so you should get your second dose.I can. The advisor said they can book me in for a different vaccine.

What - the advisor said they could do something that hasn't been approved by the regulator? Sure they did....Hmm

There has been mixing of the vaccines for a while. If someone had Pfizer for their 1st jab then became housebound, surprisingly quite a few, they were then given the AZ. You can't transport Pfizer around in a car all day.

Only as part of a trial.

EH? it was a post from you that said you had underlying issues?

Accusing me of lying

Well yes! None of what your saying adds up or fits in with government guidelines

It happened. Thanks

In your head maybe, in reality it really didn't!

Where did I say I had underlying issues?

All a bit pointless, this. Op, good luck whatever you decide.
And to all those with no issues or vulnerabilities... Just pull your heads out of your arses and get vaccinated for yours and the greater good. That's it.
And unless you are being enrolled in a trial OP or are outside the UK... There is no chance of 'starting again' currently. So roll up your sleeve eh??
