As of Friday 30th April

34.3m first jabs
14.9m second jabs

have been given in the UK. This means that 65% of all adults have some level of protection and 28% are fully vaccinated.

Additionally evidence is currently suggesting that the vaccines are effective against the Brazilian and Indian variants 🥳

That's brilliant, and a really clever idea.

buttery81 · 20/06/2021 08:15

If we do 200k first jabs a day we could be done in a maximum of about 7 weeks if every adult has one - so it could be less than that!

Fantastic!! And we’re onto the penultimate line of blocky, wahooo!!! Grin

buttery81 · 20/06/2021 08:16

I also can’t believe the end point is now firmly in sight for 1st jabs. It’s phenomenal!

ProfessorPootle · 20/06/2021 08:38

Just changed my second jab from 12th July to tomorrow 🎉 will be exactly 8 weeks since first. Absolutely loads of appointments available.

Bordois · 20/06/2021 09:07

Don't know if this has been spotted already, but the ' barcode expiry date' on NHS has changed from 20th June to 20th July - there's now a note to say it refreshes every 30 days.

Sorry, thats referring to the proof of vaccination barcode on the NHS app!

Sorry, can you please explain what this means?
BruceAndNosh · 20/06/2021 09:11

And you have explained!
We're relying on proof of vaccination to travel to see family

I can't decide if loads of appointments is good or bad!

@PuzzledObserver

Yay, 80% 1st doses achieved, as predicted!! They will need to up their game on the 2nd doses to reach 60% by Sunday, though.

Re the ultimate level - I think I'm on record as saying 92% 1st, a few % less for 2nd.

An interesting thing I have noted locally to me. Second doses are now dropping off, and locally we are at about 60%, but everyone I know over 40 has been done, and some weeks ago. First doses however have rocketed over the last couple of days, and everyone I know sub 25 has also booked, and got a date in the next week or so.

So..... and not sure if this makes sense..... but at least locally, I am wondering whether they overestimated how many "oldies" we have, and underestimated how many "youngsters".

That could be good, in that all our over 30's are already double dosed, but bad, in that we may have insufficient Pfizer for the youngsters.

All ramblings of course, and probably not true!

BigWoollyJumpers · 20/06/2021 11:08

In other good news, having failed to get anything for DD18 on the NHS booking system, she received a text from GP's yesterday, and booked for early July.

DD2 who had already booked via NHS (she is early 20's), also received a text from her new GP's (just registered, so very impressed), and has brought hers forward from early July to next week.

It really is rolling forward.

BigWoollyJumpers · 20/06/2021 11:13

Another interesting note:

People in England made 721,469 appointments through the national booking service on Friday, more than 30,000 an hour

Yes, but then:

The health service said these figures do not include appointments made through local GP-led vaccination services, or people getting jabbed at walk-in centres.

So the last couple of days of bookings and therefore take-up in the next couple of weeks will be massive.

Imfedupwithallofthis · 20/06/2021 11:27

Really looking forward to yesterday's figures - with WOW weekend and other drop in centres, the numbers could be the biggest yet. Here's hoping.

We might get disappointed?

I think young ones taking more photos makes it seem bigger, but older people had bigger vaccination days when vaccines were more plentiful. What's more remarkable with this age group is how quickly they're booking; appointments weeks away for some of them sadly but that's just mRNA vaccine availability.

EasterIssland · 20/06/2021 14:32

Yeah. It’s only cuz of the queues we saw from yesterday in London stadium. Where I live they also used all the walking center had before they closed … so was hoping for a 700k day. Maybe I had my expectations too high:)

@BruceAndNosh

I’m SW London in a borough that has high levels of vaccinated (for London highest for first, second highest for second, think it was 85% / 55%). But we’re next to a borough that has high numbers of the delta variant (and has restrictions because of it) so I thought they’d just targeted lots more vaccinations round here. There have been lots of walk ins available for first or second jabs too over the last few weeks and the universities have been organising their own vaccines so think there’s just lots available here! The centre I went to was very quiet yesterday so I’m hoping we’re almost done!

buttery81 · 22/06/2021 16:24

Bit disappointing about today’s numbers. I needed my 4pm fix! Sad

buttery81 · 23/06/2021 11:29

I’m hoping for a bumper update today, as it should include two days worth of figures for England! I’m expecting two more squares filled in on blocky too. Here’s hoping! Grin

Imfedupwithallofthis · 23/06/2021 16:12

Daily — 1st dose, 299,837
Total — 1st dose, 43,448,680
Daily — 2nd dose, 250,875
Total — 2nd dose, 31,740,115

buttery81 · 23/06/2021 16:46

As of today we're now two blocks in to the penultimate line on the block chart for 1st doses, and we've completed a full six lines for 2nd doses - wahoo!

Only 9,216,387 adults to go until every single adult (over 18) in the UK has had their 1st dose!

PuzzledObserver · 23/06/2021 17:28

At an average of 250K per day, it won’t be many weeks before we run out of first jabees.

Much as I am an enthusiastic supporter of vaccination - and I roll my eyes when I come across the gene-altering 5G plot to depopulate the world stuff - I do hope that unvaxxed people do not become social pariahs. It will probably only further entrench them (whereas left alone, at least some will come round in their own time) and there are actually not that many of them who are dyed in the wool refusers. And most of those will eventually catch it anyway and contribute to herd immunity that way.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/06/2021 17:45

If we are too embarrassed ever to ask anyone why they are not wearing a mask as they wander about the shops, or wearing it only over their mouth with their nose uncovered, I don't suppose we'll be asking anyone whether they have had the jab or not, so making people into social pariahs for not having had it seems unlikely. I suppose if we are ourselves unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons we might want to ask so we were not put at risk, but apart from that I can't see it happening.
