As of Friday 30th April

34.3m first jabs
14.9m second jabs

have been given in the UK. This means that 65% of all adults have some level of protection and 28% are fully vaccinated.

Additionally evidence is currently suggesting that the vaccines are effective against the Brazilian and Indian variants 🥳

I was volunteering at a vaccination centre yesterday and most of the people coming in were young and had booked appointments but adverts had been put out that walk-ins were allowed so there were some second vaccines brought forward so people in early 40s and late 30s were coming in as well to bring forward their second Pfizer jab.

Three lads came in together one with an appointment, one who had his jab the previous day and one who had not yet been vaccinated. I persuaded the third lad to have his vaccine and he went in as well. Another one jabbed.

I thought we'd end up around 91/92% firsts. I think those going for 2nd will be a bit lower though.

You can now check 2nd appointment availability without cancelling your original booking.

I'd not bothered moving mine as it was on July 1st, and I didn't think it was worth the risk, but I've now got it this weekend instead (and at a centre which is much closer). It only shows availability at your original centre but once you cancel it shows up all the other sites. Smile

Yay, 80% 1st doses achieved, as predicted!! They will need to up their game on the 2nd doses to reach 60% by Sunday, though.

Re the ultimate level - I think I'm on record as saying 92% 1st, a few % less for 2nd.

No appointments at all here :-(
ViperAtTheGatesOfDawn · 18/06/2021 18:29

That's a shame Woolly, hopefully soon though 🤞🏼

BigWoollyJumpers · 18/06/2021 18:54

I've just noticed something really interesting. Of the 15 options on the list, half are in Hounslow and Hillingdon, and three in Reading. DH just pointed out that vaccines stocks will have been sent there, and not here, where we have few cases. What do you think?

TruelyonelastSchlep · 18/06/2021 19:21

Yes I it looks like exactly what they are doing now

Locally we have gone from around 500 jabs a day to more than 2000 a day in the last week or so.

My 18yr old daughter and ALL her friends had alarm set for 9am this morning and all are booked in within the next week 👊

BruceAndNosh · 19/06/2021 14:29

I'm so delighted that the take up is looking so good among the 18 - 21 group. This will provide important data which might support doing the under 18s too

mateysmum · 19/06/2021 16:16

Looking at the stats today, for the last 2 days there have been more 1st than 2nd jabs.

I think this reflects a) that most of the people who had there first jabs in March peak have now had their second, so there just aren't as many people eligible for their second dose and b) first doses for people in their 20s are now kicking in.

Took DS (23) for his jab today and the centre was quite busy - mostly youngsters having Pfizer. They were now allowing walk ins for any AZ eligible people.

Bordois · 19/06/2021 16:35

Blocky's looking good. I make it just over 10m first jabs left - I reckon we will do another 6m but would be good to get to 50 million!

If we do 200k first jabs a day we could be done in a maximum of about 7 weeks if every adult has one - so it could be less than that!

TruelyonelastSchlep · 19/06/2021 18:14

Blocky is looking brilliant ❤

Yes I agree 10 million first jabs left probably

The attached screenshot is something I saw posted on Facebook. It is not only a good idea bit rather heart warming I think.
