@BessMarvin

Sorry this is probably a stupid question! Do we need more vaccines to be approved? Do we not have enough for everyone already?

Also the j&j / janssen one has the same clot issues if I'm remembering correctly? So it's not like we can replace az with it to avoid those problems?

Hope that doesn't sound too negative, just trying to understand things

It sounds like we won't be getting or using it until the Autumn. Mumblings of a potential booster for the elderly.

To be honest though it would speed up vaccination a bit. There could be issues with hesitancy for other vaccines. People wanting to wait for this one as less hassle etc. So any gain could be lost. Also like you say a clot issue. Which could mean people are more likely to question the regulators guidance for it.

I think the Jansen one is especially useful for people who find it difficult to get to a vaccine centre or are homeless etc. Don’t have to worry about getting them doses twice. This will also apply to developing countries

spain has been using it for them i.e. fishermen / homeless/ elderlies that can't so easily move/ people living in difficult areas to access to..

Thanks all, that makes sense

Love that ❤

Bordois · 29/05/2021 12:23

This may be random, but there was someone posting on this thread (I think) who had family in Crete and was going to fly out and see them over summer, are you still around?

TheChineseChicken · 29/05/2021 12:32

Was it @LivinLaVidaLoki?

PomRuns · 29/05/2021 14:17

BBC news.

More than half of over 30s had the vaccine.

🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

That was pretty quick wasn't it❤

Duchess of Cambridge announced her first vaccine dose, it was at the science museum. Now that is class❤

In England, people aged 30 and over can book

That's the case for most parts of Scotland, but in areas of Glasgow anyone over-18 can come forward.

Anyone over 18 in Wales is now eligible, and that's the same in Northern Ireland.

Getting there folks👍

Welikebeingcosy · 29/05/2021 16:00

Age 31 here. Haven't been able to book all week. They don't have second vaccine appointments available so can't book even the first one. They've told me on 119 to just try to book again another day. Feels like such an anti climax 😂 at least plenty of people are getting the vaccine though

amicissimma · 29/05/2021 18:16

Is the media tide beginning to turn? The Telegraph today, along with the data on the front page had 'Average daily deaths, all causes (Eng & Wal, week 19) 1452' under the daily Covid death figure.

That is how they do the flu vaccine for kids isn't it. Brilliant for needle phobic people as well.

Hi *@TheChineseChicken and @Bordois*

It is me.

Do you mind if I ask if you know of where we would be able to get a pcr/lft in Crete (assuming they are still needed) ideally in the malia/stalida area

This from Nature a few days ago; about antibodies after having a bout of COVID-19:-

Hi @Bordois I'll ask my cousin for you. I'm video calling her later today x

LivinLaVidaLoki · 31/05/2021 07:42

I think you can just get them done at Cretan Medicare. But there are a few pop up places opened for tourists offering same day results.

Today 15,000 Covid jabs to be given out at Twickenham stadium. It is a walk in centre for locals.

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 31/05/2021 12:12

Just been told that is for anyone over 18

So even better ❤
