DH and I are 41 and have just booked!

SquashMinusIsShit · 30/04/2021 10:56

My friend is a month too young to book yet so she's disappointed. DH & I going on Monday (I'm 40, he is in June).

Second ones booked for penultimate day of term just in case by some miracle we can go abroad 🤣

It's only been 3 days I think since the age brackets dropped so it won't be long until 38 year olds can book surely

Marmite27 · 30/04/2021 10:59

Elland Road, and there were loads of appointments available. I took the first date offered. 4th May.
UselessTrees · 30/04/2021 11:21

Managed to book yesterday evening (yay!). Just got my confirmation email this morning, plus 13 confirmation texts, which seems a bit excessive.

tulips27 · 30/04/2021 11:24

I know it's irrational but I'm suddenly really nervous. I've never been nervous about things like this before. It doesn't help that I'm going to be leaving my local area for the first time in a year, and unfortunately using public transportation.

Someone really doesn't want you to forget your appointment Grin
usernotfound0000 · 30/04/2021 11:33

@marmite27 Elland Road will be where I go too, and out of interest, a friend had theirs yesterday and was given moderna (38, no health issues)

Anawi · 30/04/2021 11:47

Haha, I just booked an appointment for my husband, he got 11 confirmation emails and I think he said 4 texst! Confused

I think the website/system is a bit over loaded.

He is 39, 40 end of june so just scraped in this bracket. I know locally some under 30s who were called earlier, they have been doing local Pfizer clinics for under 30s as they Re now not giving them AZ, which was a bit annoying when older people were still waiting.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcoln · 30/04/2021 12:05

I really hope so @SquashMinusIsShit - I'm just 2 months too young!!

WombatChocolate · 30/04/2021 12:11

I think rollout will be reasonably quick now. Take-up is lower amongst younger groups, so moving on more speedily makes sense. Plus, it's probably better to push forwards and get the keenies to be jabbed, even if they are 5 years younger than delaying and pursuing those not jabbed in younger groups before moving on, because everyone is now relatively lower risk anyway and it's all about numbers and herd immunity as you get into 30s and 20s.

The mop up of those who haven't booked from all previous cohorts has to continue and continue and continue. They (GPs particularly) have to follow-up and will have more and more to do as take-up dwindles a bit with age. They (national booking system) might as well rollout to those who are keener at the same time as mop up is going on, as long as supply is sufficient. Still looks like first jabs not set to expand any time soon and GP services won't have new deliveries for 1st jabs until at least after next week. It means follow up and mop up if those who do t go to the national booking system sites, where the supply is mostly located might have to wait longer to be followed up.

People should book as soon as eligible and not hold out for more local, unless they are willing to potentially have a wait of quite a while. GP supplies are mostly going to 2nd jabs.

ArtemisBean · 30/04/2021 12:15

The age bracket was 42 when I looked last night and today it's 40. That's amazing if they're opening up a new year group every day or so! Hoping to book DH (38) in next week then me soon after 🤞🤞

Quartz2208 · 30/04/2021 12:15

Im finding I have more time now I am not checking.

I did a friends this morning - and the appointments in my area were ridiculous (London/Surrey borders) Sandown had first appointments w/c 23rd May but no second appointments so we booked in Copes Pharmacy in Streatham in August.

Unless they get more supply and more appointments opening the next set will be looking at June for first appointment

Frazzled2207 · 30/04/2021 12:24

@Quartz2208
fingers crossed it's a temporary issue. Earlier this week there were no appointments at all in Greater Manchester, it was coming up with Yorkshire/Stoke on Trent/Liverpool etc. Since yesterday there have been plenty,

YetGo · 30/04/2021 12:29

I did exactly the same @Marjoriesdoor
Managed to secure a new dose 2 appointment this afternoon but nail biting wait.
I was even told had cancelled my first when had had the injection.

NearlyAlwaysInsane · 30/04/2021 12:33

Yup, surprised - my DP (42) was offered it 3-4 days ago. Myself (41) today, they must be going fast through the years now.

YellowPurple · 30/04/2021 12:34

If you are 39 but turn 40 before 1 July 2021, you can now book vaccine.

MattDamon · 30/04/2021 12:55

Partner booked last night for Excel Centre in East London. He showed up a bit early and they said you can come anytime during the day you've booked.

Carouselfish · 30/04/2021 13:45

40 and just had invite but no centre's less than 40m away at mo.

TheChineseChicken · 30/04/2021 13:47

Keep refreshing. I was only being offered places about that far away but kept refreshing until suddenly a health centre 15 minutes' drive popped up. It changes all the time so you have to be on the ball!
TokyoSushi · 30/04/2021 13:57

DH has had Moderna, hurrah!

Eccle80 · 30/04/2021 14:18

Currently sat in vaccine centre waiting! Think most people are second doses as no one else looks close to my age

TokyoSushi · 30/04/2021 14:40

DH says it was absolutely packed with people 'our age' at his!

TyneFilth · 30/04/2021 15:30

I wasn't asked to wait at all after AZ, @MRex, there wasn't space to sit for 15 mins!

TyneFilth · 30/04/2021 15:33

I'm so behind - that was replying to a comment at 6am

Very interesting, thanks for the info!
