@ChubbyCat blimey it's gone bad :( I managed to book the second one for my husband yesterday and it was bath, nothing bristol. but seems like the 1st one they're really struggling atm in the area as @3asAbird is also struggling

whatswithtodaytoday · 28/04/2021 15:17

@ILookAtTheFloor If your DH manages to get Moderna please you post here? I'm mid-Essex, nearest Chelmsford Racecourse but could drive to Basildon or Wickford. I'm 39 and a half so hoping it's my turn soon 😆

ILookAtTheFloor · 28/04/2021 15:27

@whatswithtodaytoday I've just been reading on FB that Maldon District Council offices are doing walk ins for anyone over 42, which is good.

DH doesn't want to go to Basildon but my friend is going on Tuesday and I'll report back if it's Moderna, she's hoping it will be.

honeyandbutterontoast · 28/04/2021 15:33

I saw that on FB! Unfortunately still have a couple of days of the DC doing exams and I can’t run the risk of being too ill to get them into school. Hoping something like that will pop up again.

MrsMariaReynolds · 28/04/2021 15:34

Had my first AstraZenica jab this morning (aged 44) within walking distance from where I live. DH had a 30 mile return journey to get his the other week, so he's envious. Very lucky to be able to book in when I did as they've reported their vax site is fully booked up for the next few weeks.

Thank you fellow MNers for the head's up last week! ❤️ Good luck to everyone else looking forward to theirs.

Ooh that is good about Maldon. Where did you read that? Do report back if your friend gets it, thank you!

I'm happy to get AZ if that's all there is, but would prefer Moderna.

BunsyGirl · 28/04/2021 15:45

@whatswithtodaytoday I have also been told (by a pharmacist friend) that Maldon are doing walk ins today for 43’s and overs.

Dumpypumpy · 28/04/2021 16:25

Hello Preston St. John’s Lancashire are doing moderna

YetGo · 28/04/2021 16:46

Had first Moderna this morning (44). Went to manage my booking for 2nd one as it is 33 miles away. It automatically cancelled it as soon as I logged in. Told me I had missed my first appointment!
Took back through process of booking first one. Sent an automatic text and email saying I had cancelled 2nd appointment. Cancellation email had wrong centre - had the one I wanted to change to.
Rang 119 in a panic. They said system hadn't been updated from first dose and wait 48 hrs for it to reset.
Kind of reassured. Moral of the story, don't log in to change anything too soon after 1st dose.

FrenchyQ · 28/04/2021 16:51

Anyone of the over 40s had their jab at Milton Keynes? Could I ask which one you had?

tulips27 · 28/04/2021 16:52

Does anyone know of places with Moderna in Bristol/Bath or Dorset?

EasterIssland · 28/04/2021 16:57

@tulips27 Ashton was doing it few weeks ago. The other place in the sw was Plymouth as per south west. However seems like Ashton is sold out of appointments at the moment
Crumpetsandhoney · 28/04/2021 16:59

42 got texts from nhs and go on tuesday and booked in with go for this Friday at convenient time. My friend just got NHS text and had offer 20 miles away. Husband is older and didnt get gp text just nhs one and got in at local pharmacy.

3asAbird · 28/04/2021 17:01

Calling Bristolians Ashton gate just appeared so booked husband jabs there.
I'm still ineligible and I'm 1980.

Eccle80 · 28/04/2021 17:34

Just been watching the briefing, no mention of the under 42s, but they said I think three quarter of a million appointments were booked on Monday

WhiteChocTwix · 28/04/2021 17:37

Urgh so disappointed they haven't addressed what's happening the under 42's Sad

I guess they won’t say anything until more can be released...
nordica · 28/04/2021 20:14

I think it really is supply issues as we have known since March really, they would release more appointments quicker if they could. Although it's concerning vaccination centres are closing. It's easy to travel if you drive and can get time off but not so easy if you don't have a car or can't take the time to make a long trip.

MRex · 28/04/2021 20:15

Still a no to 1980.

OP posts:
Slayduggee · 28/04/2021 20:22

Still not eligible. May 1980 so I’m 41 next month

TokyoSushi · 28/04/2021 20:24

Still a no for me too (1980) a friend who works in a vaccination centre tells me it's a supply issue which is why the roll out seems to have slowed down, just when we're almost at the front of the queue!

Wingingit15 · 28/04/2021 20:25

It does seem a bit odd to require people to spend hours driving for a jab that might have a reaction. Seems to be very limiting logistically for many but o presume the thinking is if we have to wait the risk is not as great as the groups 1-9

MRex · 28/04/2021 20:28

@TokyoSushi - Front of the queue for sure. I had my jab back in mid March in group 6, we really felt asthmatic DH was just about at the front of the queue then and it wouldn't be more than a week or two. Ah well. Would be worse if we were anywhere else except Israel / USA, and cases are low, so we just need to be patient a little while longer.

PacificOcean · 28/04/2021 20:32

Had my first jab yesterday (AZ), no side effects so far - it was 30 hours ago now so I'm hoping I've swerved them! I'm 46 and in Hertfordshire.

Frazzled2207 · 28/04/2021 20:43

@PacificOcean
Pleased to hear dh is booked in and I expect he will get az. I don’t know anyone in real life who’s had it and NOT been ill! He’s quite worried
