I'm 35 and had mine end of March and DH is 36 and literally having his as we speak, I'm sat in the car park waiting for him Grin I'm an unpaid career for our disabled child but he has no special considerations. We're in South Wales

bordersarebest · 27/04/2021 15:45

@RumHoney thanks, this has put my mind at rest ! I've been into manage my bookings & the appts are there. I imagine the system is pretty busy at the mo !

Frazzled2207 · 27/04/2021 15:45

@TheMerrickBoy

I'm now wondering whether to book and somehow get myself to one of the very far away places, or wait and hope that the page changes and they start offering slots at the one where I actually live... I'm worried it'll get even more booked up and I'll end up waiting longer
also wondering this but I think it might be impossible to actually look to see what else is available without actually cancelling the further away one. I don't actually know though

is that for 1st? I've booked the second for my husband today in bath (lansdown) as that was the closest, nothing in bristol . there was the one in Weston super mare and also in Westbury
Frazzled2207 · 27/04/2021 16:05

Greater manchester is useless - nothing at all .Loads in Liverpool area though. Looks like we'll be driving.

3asAbird · 27/04/2021 16:21

1st weirdly came up with he missed his 1st vaccine we never booked one as he hoped something nearer come up thats backfired. Others same area as me having issues impossible get from gp who think only doing 2nd doses.

Tequilamockinbird · 27/04/2021 16:23

Finally got mine both booked!

They've just added a load of dates right into next week here (North East), not sure if it's the same everywhere

WombatChocolate · 27/04/2021 16:45

People struggling to book or only being offered places far away, who are considering waiting for a local ,appointment......just be aware that GP led services are getting no deliveries for 1st jabs until after the end of the 1st week of May - ie almost 2 weeks off. And who knows if they will get them then.

Most first jabs by far are being given by the larger centres which you book via the national booking site. GP led services are run in tandem but are a different booking system and service. They are mostly focused in 2nd jabs and mop up of earlier groups.

If you want to be jabbed sooner, for most it will mean travelling. If you can’t or won’t, you will eventually get offered a mor elocal jab but it could well be several weeks off because GPs just aren’t getting the supply.

Travelling is a pain, but it’s 2 journeys for something important, so for most people it’s worth doing a bit of juggling and organising to make it happen.

People can see appointments are limited and that’s due to limited supply. Notice little beyond 100k are done daily as first jabs at the moment. Therefore if you want it, you have to travel. When supply is limited, demand has to be managed somehow.

Deliaskis · 27/04/2021 16:53

I just realised I am sitting in the middle of a 50 mile wide vaccine desert, literally nothing for almost an hour in any direction. Sad

Agreed. I can travel, so I am. I’ll leave any local appointments for those that can’t.

After a long time of being at home I’m treating it as a day out Grin I expect my appointment to take a good 2hrs+ inc the travel. But I get paid leave so it’s fine.

def not but pleased you're sorted. Stil nothing in GM. Every time I click back and forward though a slightly different set of options seems to come up.
ConnieDobbs · 27/04/2021 17:33

I'm 42 and just had a text from the NHS inviting me to book my vaccine... Except I had it yesterday through my GP

Me too in Darlington. Next week for my first. Exciting.

Hope everyone gets theirs booked soon.

Frazzled2207 · 27/04/2021 18:23

After there being nothing in Greater Manchester at all a tiny pharmacy has come up as an option with lots of appointments so dh now booked there for next week. Phew.

FlattestWhite · 27/04/2021 19:35

I'm impressed at all the GPs who are proactive enough to text people to tell them to use the national service. I hadn't realised that was happening, as ours isn't. They text you only if you can book at their hub. I can't imagine GPs are allowed to pass mobile numbers to the national centres, so they must be organising the message sending themselves.

Frazzled2207 · 27/04/2021 19:38

@FlattestWhite
I think they must have passed on the info to some central function. My text definitely came from 'nhs' rather than the GP who has texted public service announcements before.

FlattestWhite · 27/04/2021 19:40

maybe part of the data sharing agreement that I vaguely remember hearing about in the news ages ago. Sounds like a good use of data sharing - I was just a little surprised.

Blackopal · 27/04/2021 19:53

Just got a call from my GP surgery calling me for vaccination tomorrow. I am 40 and in Worcester

CamdenLurker · 27/04/2021 20:12

Anybody else seeing this? I'm August 79 and when I enter my details first it tells me I've missed an appointment (I haven't) and then it tells me I'm not eligible to use this service.

I don't know what to make of it!

iI is worth keeping on refreshing. Everything local had gone and then one single appointment flashed up on a day that dh has off work and he is booked for Thursday. Someone must have cancelled.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 27/04/2021 20:13

Camden Lurker - yes thats what we got every time after we didn't complete the first booking. You have been in the system but not made a booking and that is the standard message.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 27/04/2021 20:14

Oh sorry - it didn't then say not eligible - weird

You e tried it in the past and it keeps in their records. That’s why it thinks you’ve missed the appointment despite you’re not still eligible
