Beginning to think I did the right thing now.
Anybody else?

I can't understand how someone can have no interest in going abroad. Why on Earth not?[/quote]
Because people are different and don't all like the same things?

Devlesko · 20/04/2021 00:06

@Clutterbugsmum

The people who are declining your vaccination will you change your mind if you need to have them to travel abroad for example if they decide you have to be vaccinated, Or will you have it because you want to go on holiday
No I will not change my mind in order to go abroad as I have no need or want for a holiday abroad anytime soon.
OP posts:
KurtWilde · 20/04/2021 00:11

I haven't been abroad since I was a kid and have no intention of doing so now or in the future, for multiple reasons.

TheClaws · 20/04/2021 03:58

Made another appointment, day came dh rushed in this time for life saving surgery, he's at home but reliant on me for so much.
Nurses coming daily and another trip to A&E today.
I told them not to bloody call again.
I don't need science, just my gut
.

I'm glad your DH is OK, Devlesko, but the irony Hmm

Suzi888 · 20/04/2021 04:06

I’ve had the AZ out of moral obligation, not because I’m worried about the minuscule chance covid might kill me. Otherwise we will never get out of this mess.
I don’t blame anyone that doesn’t want the jab though, it’s such a divisive subject and who knows what may transpire about these vaccines (or covid) in the future.

MondeoFan · 20/04/2021 05:57

I was supposed to have mine 2 weeks ago, it was cancelled by them. I've made another appointment but in 2 minds whether to have it done. More worried about side effects than anything else

Roonerspismed · 20/04/2021 06:18

I’m amazed that the reason we should have the vaccine is to avoid being selfish whereas I would argue I have lived in an incredibly selfish country for years and haven’t watched the majority of people do many unselfish acts like give away much of their money or homes for the needy.

And I didn’t ask for the government to keep things going with covid in this country until full lockdown was inevitable. Indeed I silently screamed when colleagues went skiing to Italy last March.

And I have spent years biting my lips at the state of healthcare in this country and the poverty allowing us to have an unhealthy and obese populous. I have kept myself slim and fit and cost the NHS naff all.

But no - apparently I am selfish for now choosing to wait and see the results of these stage four vaccine trials before I choose to have one. Even though I was horrified the MHRA either chose not to see or didn’t manage to see the data showing that younger people have a possible 1 in 100,000 chance of a serious adverse effect - I am to accept the vaccine dumped in my arm that day to “do my bit”.

Seriously - give me a bloody break

MummyPop00 · 20/04/2021 07:00

Had Covid, had 1st AZ, got ongoing headaches with AZ, won’t be having 2nd AZ.

ferryblue · 20/04/2021 07:06

I’ve been following a scientist with a PHD in virology and who has helped developed previous vaccines in the past, who believes these are the wrong type of vaccines to have used and will make the vaccinated’s immune response to specific, making it more difficult for them to fight off possible vaccine resistant new variants.

My choice hasn’t come from a QAnon Facebook group perspective. I’m waiting to see before I choose whether to have the vaccine or not.

ferryblue · 20/04/2021 07:07

*too specific. I didn’t sleep, before somebody pulls me up on that Hmm

MarshaBradyo · 20/04/2021 07:26

@MrsFezziwig

Have had the vaccine. Just don’t see how we will get out of this situation without extraordinary measures, one of which is mass vaccination.

I do find it illogical that many of the posters who have allegedly suffered the most from lockdown (including OP) are so unwilling to be vaccinated. Do they not want their lives back?

I agree
OpheliasCrayon · 20/04/2021 07:32

So you'll accept the life saving surgery and the nurses coming to care for your husband, OP, but not the vaccine which they will have had in order to
a) keep themselves safe
b) keep you safe from them
c) keep them from catching it so they're actually able to be in work in the first place to care for your husband
?
And you tell the nhs to stop bloody calling when you're offered it. That's nice of you.

Crystaltipsandalyster · 20/04/2021 07:36

@Gertie75

Those who refused it are you happy to take up a hospital bed and ventilator if you become ill with covid or would you rather it be given to someone who has had the jabs and need the bed and equipment for other reasons?
Your comment is ridiculous. No one is denied treatment, just like treatment isn't denied to people with drug or alcohol addictions regardless of what your vengeful, evil little mind would want. You should be ashamed of yourself.
MarshaBradyo · 20/04/2021 07:37

I feel sorry for people dealing with the rudeness. Going by comments on SM people vastly overestimate risk and think they are being coerced etc.
Sparrowcrane · 20/04/2021 07:37

You are all too behind on the get back to normal update from Boris - According to his recent announcement it's the lockdown which has led to the reduction in cases not the vaccine!! You are still required to mask up and social distance with your full vaccination-what is the point of all this ?

MummyPop00 · 20/04/2021 07:44

If take up is running at ca. 95%, not sure why refusal is still getting peoples backs up? Highly likely this figure will drop amongst the young, granted, but the young aren’t running the same risks & are already being warned off AZ.

‘But, the variants’

Vaccines seem to protect against these thus far in the main do they not?

Terracotta9 · 20/04/2021 07:46

This simply isn't true - the vaccines aren't gene therapy.

Moderna’s own SEC filing acknowledges that:

Currently, mRNA is considered a gene therapy product by the FDA.

And in BioNTech’s SEC filing:

“Although we expect to submit BLAs for our mRNA-based product candidates in the United States, and in the European Union, mRNA therapies have been classified as gene therapy medicinal products, other jurisdictions may consider our mRNA-based product candidates to be new drugs, not biologics or gene therapy medicinal products, and require different marketing applications.”

What we are seeing now is a scramble to tighten up the definition of “gene therapy” to exclude mRNA therapies, but you can’t pretend these technologies have never been considered gene therapy when it’s right there in the companies’ own filings.

To those who have refused the vaccine; would you expect nhs help if you became seriously ill with covid?

McCheney73 · 20/04/2021 07:52

My husband turned it down.
I've not been invited yet due to my age but will also be declining.

The blood clot business is worrying me and I'm very low risk so benefits not really outweighing the risk.
I'm also not keen on having it every year for the rest of my life which is looking likely.

Would much rather mine went to one of the many poorer countries that so desperately need it.

If I was in the vulnerable category I would absolutely have it.

Crystaltipsandalyster · 20/04/2021 08:00

@Checkingout811

I'm assuming your body is a temple and you don't drink, smoke, are the perfect weight, don't drive a car, otherwise bore off.
namechangedx2 · 20/04/2021 08:00

I'm going to decline for now. Ideally I'm waiting until the clinical trials for all the jabs end in 2023. Everyone that is jabbed now is part of the later stage clinical trial.

I've already had Covid and recovered so expect I have some natural immunity which protects to some extent against all strands, which the jab does not.

AerisAsh · 20/04/2021 08:04

@Checkingout811

'To those who have refused the vaccine; would you expect nhs help if you became seriously ill with covid?'

Why wouldn't the nhs help people who get COVID? They help people that eat too much and drink too much.

Do you think the nhs should only help people that have the correct bmi and only drink within the limits the government recommend?

Why do people think that without the vaccine we will all catch COVID and die?

ferryblue · 20/04/2021 08:06

@Checkingout811.

If we treat somebody who’s drunk driven into a tree and broken all of their limbs, or treat a lifelong smoker for lung cancer, then yes I would expect to be treated for Covid because barring medical help for such a reason is a slippery slope.

Wildswim · 20/04/2021 08:11

I do find it illogical that many of the posters who have allegedly suffered the most from lockdown (including OP) are so unwilling to be vaccinated. Do they not want their lives back

I find it a perfectly clear consistent approach. Of course we want our freedoms and rights back - but it shouldn't be at a price or on condition of undergoing a medical procedure! That's not freedom, it's creeping authoritarianism and a violation of personal autonomy.

And vaccine passports are downright scary.

Wildswim · 20/04/2021 08:12

Why do people think that without the vaccine we will all catch COVID and die

No idea. There is a 99.8% chance of surviving Covid.
