Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

@Judystilldreamsofhorses

I'm in Scotland and just got my blue envelope (we can't book online and just get given a slot) this morning. Next Saturday. I'm 48.
I find this baffling. Sending physical letters I mean. Can you amend the appointment if you can't make it?
Frazzled2207 · 16/04/2021 12:03

@Judystilldreamsofhorses
pleased you're booked in though

PrettyCherryBlossom · 16/04/2021 14:36

Thanks to the previous thread I booked on Monday evening for yesterday. Had the AZ and developed chills and a fever last night, about 12 hours after the jab, but feeling much better now, just a fuzzy head and aching arm.

LetSophieGo · 16/04/2021 16:12

been offered AZ this week, concerned about clot risks.

I want to ask any wise ones here, if I am 47, female, what are my risks? I am slim, no underlying issues that I am aware of or other illnesses.

I have read very little about this and do not know what to do.

Hope you can help!

YoutubeZoom · 16/04/2021 16:23

DH had AZ in Durham.

Tealightsandd · 16/04/2021 16:44

@LetSophieGo

Research from Oxford University has found the risks of brain clotting are 8-10 times higher from covid itself than from vaccines.

I'm in my 40s, had my AZ a few weeks ago, and absolutely fine. I had 2 days of flu like symptoms (chills, aches, fever, fatigue) and that's it.

CarrotCakeMuffins · 16/04/2021 17:05

I had a Pfizer jab yesterday following a text from my GP the night before. They're doing 2nd doses of Pfizers this week and moving to second AZs next week, but offering to 45-49s at the end of the day to use up supplies.

Sore arm but otherwise ok.

I had the same @PrettyCherryBlossom I think most of my issues today (absolutely knackered basically) is down to not sleeping because of having the chills overnight. I think with a good nights sleep tonight, I'll be fine tomorrow Smile

DH had Pfizer on Weds and has had no side effects at all.

MirandaWest · 16/04/2021 18:06

Had mine done this morning - was Moderna. Just realised I didn’t get a sticker (DH got one yesterday) SadGrin

MirandaWest · 16/04/2021 18:07

Arm is a bit sore and I am tired but I usually am by Friday evening anyway

Tealightsandd · 16/04/2021 18:42

I think we should complain about the sticker postcode lottery!

EasterIssland · 16/04/2021 18:48

@Tealightsandd we’ve a thread to cry our sorrows ... or start a petition :)

BentBastard · 16/04/2021 18:59

My husband got a sticker and mentioned that I would be jealous as I was gutted I never got one and she gave him an extra for me Grin

Tickly · 16/04/2021 19:54

@LetSophieGo I am similarly worried. Does this help you (hopefully it pastes on). A friend sent it to me. If you've had babies, pregnancy is riskier too.

WombatChocolate · 16/04/2021 20:23

Bentbastard, glad you got your sticker in the end.

You can buy them on eBay apparently! Question is, where are people sticking them? I put mine on the back of my phone but it’s looking a bit shabby now.

Key Q - do you get a sticker for a 2nd jab and is it different to the first? Very important Q, but perhaps I shouldn’t start a new thread.

BentBastard · 16/04/2021 20:37

Mines on back of my phone too. I guess you can upgrade it at your second appointment Smile

KatherineJaneway · 16/04/2021 22:59

I had similar. I was so hot then so cold all night on and off, I hardly slept. I was so tired the next day due to that. Apart from that, all was great.

Blessex · 16/04/2021 23:22

Hey @LetSophieGo try not to worry. All vaccines have potential side effects. Just this one is being scrutinised and the risk is minimal. I am about your age and had AZ this week. Had a bit of tossing and turning that night as my body was getting used to this foreign thing - but better that than catching the virus. It’s awful apparently.

hodgebit · 17/04/2021 07:27
@LetSophieGo take 2 to send the picture
That's a good comparison, but even that gives the impression that the vaccine is comparatively more "risky" than it actually is, as it compares "serious harm" from vaccine with "death" from Covid, accidents etc. Doubtless the figures for "serious harm"'from Covid and accidents would be quite a bit higher than the "death" figures.

The risk from the jab is about equivalent to you being seriously injured road traffic accident on a 80 mile trip... or two return journeys for both vaccination shots a a centre 20 miles away.

How far ahead are people's first appointments? Trying to work out when the government will declare victory in 45-49, and then move on to 40-45

DobbyTheHouseElk · 17/04/2021 17:41

The next group is 40-44 so might be a smaller group. I’m sure I read that it’s not a large group.

Do you mean 45-49 isn't a big group?

Just waiting for my turn anxiously especially with schools reopening and all this talk of new variants.
