As expected the government are announcing a milestone of vaccinating all priority groups earlier than advertised.

Except it's a lie Angry

My ds is group 6 and has been told he won't be offered his first dose until at least the beginning of May because they surgery have been told they must prioritise second doses over the first ones (fair enough) and they don't have enough to do BOTH.

SO Boris - would you like you explain why you say this. Why you out vulnerable people at risk by telling the non vulnerable to go out and about thinking they aren't putting others at risk?

The vaccine programme HAS been amazing. But you haven't offered all those in priority groups a vaccine.

Sorry should have said they are claiming to have offered them all a vaccine.

It's still untrue!

Very upsetting when some surgeries are way ahead of others. I do believe though that group 6 can now book directly via the national booking service so give that a go for your son. Hope he gets one soon.

HolmeH · 13/04/2021 09:37

Group 6 is the vulnerable group right? He can just book online via the govmt website. He’s been able to do so for a couple months! He doesn’t need to wait for his GP..

PennyRoyal · 13/04/2021 09:38

It is true in my area. Over 40s can now apply.

HolmeH · 13/04/2021 09:38

When they say offered, they are including the availability to simply book online..

DianaT1969 · 13/04/2021 09:40

Is there a reason you only want it done at his GP surgery?

Roszie · 13/04/2021 09:41

Group 6 have been able to book online for ages. My DS had his a few weeks ago.

Cornettoninja · 13/04/2021 09:42

This really, it’s the definition of offered that’s throwing you. Presuming your ds can book online it counts regardless of the realities of actually being able to physically attend the appointment or suitability of vaccine brand offered.
ImTheWolfToday · 13/04/2021 09:46

Group six has for a while now been able to (and asked to) book via the national site and no longer limited to their GP surgery. So I suppose in that sense the offer to book is there, even if it doesn’t match (in many cases justified) preferences.

grandmasterstitch · 13/04/2021 09:47

My 66 year old mum only got hers last week so I can't see that it's true in our area

We can't book through nhs.

He's 16 so limited to pfeizer.

And they won't book ANYONE for pfeizer jab as there is a shortage coming from EU.

I've even said i'll travel.

Twistered · 13/04/2021 09:49

Why can't you book online?

itsgettingwierd · 13/04/2021 09:50

When I try the nhs site it always says "you have been allocated a vaccine not available the light this service"

OP posts:

See above!

Have you tried calling 119?

Cornettoninja · 13/04/2021 09:57

Have you spoken to 119 and your surgery? I think there are still bookings for Pfizer 1st jabs in some areas but with extenuating circumstances (like your sons).

Sorry it’s been such a ball ache for you, has this been a problem since they started vaccinating group six in your area?

Daisydoor12 · 13/04/2021 09:57

I agree my brother is in a similar situation group 6 and hasn’t been offered a vaccine and can’t book online for reasons already stated.

Sorry to hear that.

I've emailed my MP (who is a useless twat and up Boris arse but 🤷‍♀️)

I had a feeling it wouldn't be an isolated case.

And I get their are issues with supply.
I get their are anomalies.

But I dont get lying to the public as some kind of propaganda when not having all vulnerable vaccinated is actually a public health matter and something that the lies will have consequences.

I have. Numerous times (despite it saying not to call about vaccines!)

All I get is he is group 6 and if there is a spare vaccine he will get called in.

It's worth pointing out (is it?) that the 'national' NHS website only works if registered with NHS ENGLAND.

RedcurrantPuff · 13/04/2021 10:06

Can he book at a vaccine centre?

paralysedbyinertia · 13/04/2021 10:11

That sounds very frustrating, OP.

I know healthy people in their thirties who have received the Pfizer vaccine recently, so it must be galling to hear that your vulnerable ds can't have one due to the supply issues. I know that our local hospitals are offering Pfizer jabs at short notice in order to avoid wastage - could you try calling around in case your ds could get one of these?

Totally understand why the headlines about all priority groups being offered a vaccine must be infuriating for you. I hope that your ds doesn't have to wait for too much longer.

itsgettingwierd · 13/04/2021 10:15

@RedcurrantPuff

Nope. Those who cannot have any vaccine cannot be booked via any other route than through GP.

Thankyou.

I actually have my 2nd pfeizer at vaccination hub this week (and yes I feel guilty I'm having it and ds can't get it) and I'm going to ask them.

I got it through work in January but could have also booked through NHS website in March as his carer.

Cornettoninja · 13/04/2021 10:20

@itsgettingwierd I can see why the headlines today have pissed you off now. I hope your DS gets a call really soon.
