As expected the government are announcing a milestone of vaccinating all priority groups earlier than advertised.

Except it's a lie Angry

My ds is group 6 and has been told he won't be offered his first dose until at least the beginning of May because they surgery have been told they must prioritise second doses over the first ones (fair enough) and they don't have enough to do BOTH.

SO Boris - would you like you explain why you say this. Why you out vulnerable people at risk by telling the non vulnerable to go out and about thinking they aren't putting others at risk?

The vaccine programme HAS been amazing. But you haven't offered all those in priority groups a vaccine.

How long has group 6 been able to book online? I've seen articles dating end of Feb/early March.

The decision about under 30s bit being able to get AZ was only made a week ago.

Seems there was a chance for him to get it before this decision was made

ineedaholidaynow · 13/04/2021 13:26

So is the GP at fault? If so, can’t really blame the Government this time

No there wasn't.

Why are you sticking up for lies?

Nope. It's always said not eligible as not allocated a vaccine through that service.

Been saying that for 6 weeks and that how I know that he's definitely logged group 6 as I asked GP to confirm it.

OP posts:
MRex · 13/04/2021 13:39

The GP clearly should have prioritised him, or to have asked another location to book him (and honestly take him with you to your second jab, see if they'll jab him).
I'd have contacted PALS and the CCG to kick up a fuss, it's their job to ensure everyone vulnerable is appropriately prioritised. Noe you can use the announcement in your favour - why are they reporting as a CCG to government that they offered your child a jab when they haven't? Or why are they not including him on the priority list when he qualifies?

It's scary isn't it how many people are buying this propaganda.

Boris says everyone has been offered a vaccine so they must have had. Boris says all those in priority groups and all vulnerable have been offered a vaccine so we are safe to lift all these restrictions - so it must be true.

OP posts:
itsgettingwierd · 13/04/2021 13:40

I would take him to second one but if they won't book him in then I can't go in either because he can't come in with me.

OP posts:
ancientgran · 13/04/2021 13:41

I'm not surprised. I work in a care home, they were announcing all care homes had been offered the vaccine weeks before we were offered it.

I don't believe anything they say.

Possibly, I wouldn’t get carried away with that notion on the basis of one case though.

What I am pretty sure of is that the GP surgery hold the responsibility to get this sorted out ASAP and it’s not really up to @itsgettingwierd to do all the running around (although I would suggest you do - nothing gets GP’s/NHS moving their arses like a complaint).

ineedaholidaynow · 13/04/2021 13:45

But if your GP are saying they need to prioritise 2nd dose and haven’t offered your DS 1st dose they are wrong. The Government won’t know the GP is doing it wrong.

It’s a pity there isn’t an easy way to rectify their mistake though

StarCat2020 · 13/04/2021 13:47

Down right shocking especially as you haven't "blamed" anyone for anything just pointed out a complete lie

MRex · 13/04/2021 13:55

Ok, if you can't take him then you'll need to complain to toys gets fixed.
You can contact PALS or CCG complaints, it's their job to fix it.
You can contact DHSC to say your vulnerable child hasn't been booked so they shouldn't say vaccines are complete for group 6 until he's done: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-of-health-and-social-care/about/complaints-procedure.
You can contact your MP, or Nadhim Zahawi (vaccine minister): members.parliament.uk/member/4113/contact.

I would bet large sums that a strongly worded complaint in any of those directions will get your son an appointment very quickly.

MRex · 13/04/2021 13:56

"toys gets" = someone to get
(No idea how that happened)

greenlynx · 13/04/2021 14:55

OP is absolutely right. I was in the same boat with my DD who’s 16 and in group 6. I was phoning her Gp every week since the middle of February, tried to book her online but got the same message as OP. 16-18 y.o. needs Pfizer and it’s in short supply. Eventually we raised this issue with the vaccination centre and she was vaccinated a few weeks ago. It’s huge stress. And we didn’t receive any txt or letters or calls from or via GP even by now.

The promise was about ALL in priority groups 1-9 . OP’s son is in group 6 therefore should have been offered a vaccination by now. It’s known that there’s a small group who can only have Pfizer. The planning should have been made for this. I know a lot of people who have had Pfizer at the middle of February ( from group 5) and could happily have had AZ whereas my daughter couldn’t.

DandelionSprout · 13/04/2021 15:04

I am eligible to be vaccinated because I live with my mum who has cancer. I’m allergic so I can’t have AZ. My GP says they have no Pfizer being delivered for the foreseeable future so if I need Pfizer I’ll have to book at a big vaccine centre. But the NHS website won’t allow me to book. So what am I supposed to do? I’m group 6 but can’t book a vaccination. They absolutely have NOT offered a vaccine to everyone - not if you need Pfizer they haven’t.

greenlynx · 13/04/2021 15:09

The problem was how booking was organised. Group 6 was supposed to be invited by GP because in some cases you needed to look at the records of medicines and so on. But they were really slow with this (unsurprisingly, it’s a huge task) and by then Pfizer was in short supply. Group 5 shouldn’t have had Pfizer in February before 16-18 y.o. in group 6. The problem with supply was clear already so people who could have ONLY Pfizer should have been prioritised.

Haiyaa · 13/04/2021 15:19

Presumably because your son is 16, he would not fall under the umbrella of “all adults over 50 or in CEV group” if they are also classifying the CEV group to be adults i.e. over 18? I imagine there are plenty of under 18s who qualify as CEV but as they are not routinely being offered they have drawn the line at 18 years. Not great for you/your son, but not an outright lie either...

greenlynx · 13/04/2021 15:51

@Haiyaa

The group 6 includes all individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality. It’s 16-64 not 18-64.

Precisely.

And their gov.uk website says all clinically vulnerable entitled have been offered.

More and stories of this are coming out and that's just a small sample of population on MN.

I know we are in national mourning but for once it would actually be good if someone from press did read this and raise it at our next briefing when he announces this again to the nation.

Would you consider contacting your MP @itsgettingwierd. This is precisely the kind of thing they should be pushing through the ranks.

itsgettingwierd · 13/04/2021 16:10

Sorry that last sentence missed a bit - I meant won't be having pressers for a week due to NM but when we do.

But I absolutely cannot fault the NHS with their role out. They've had a huge job and supply issues aren't their fault. They get allocated amount and despite what government might tell them they can't vaccinate people without the supplies to do so.

I have already!

But she's one of BJ arse lickers. She is useless and doesn't ever respond.

Oh I tell a lie. The one time she responded is when I emailed her quoting educational guidance and asking how she could support me as x was proving impossible to access.

Her email was to send me the guidance and state she hoped it would be of use HmmGrin

Haiyaa · 13/04/2021 16:27

@greenlynx @itsgettingwierd yes that is true sorry I didn’t word it very well but what I am talking about comes down to semantics of what is in the article as to whether what they have said is technically a lie - politics basically. But if the Gov website just says all CEV then that obviously is not true.

Cornettoninja · 13/04/2021 16:29

Ah that’s a shame- unless you’re prepared to chase her on Twitter? MP’s seem to respond to a public tweet...
