Final straw....can't take this anymore

I've been avoiding the news for so long but looked today hoping the latest AZ news would be reassuring and that the vaccine rollout would carry on. I simply can't take the stress of this anymore. Its the ups and downs all the time that are killing me. Just when you begin to think this may soon be over another headline just blows that out of the water. The news today is going to put people off (all ages) having the vaccine whether that's the first or second dose. This fucking pandemic is never going to end. I can't deal with this life anymore. There is no joy. Just endless bad news.

I've not been put off having my 2nd AZ dose 🤷‍♀️

Saucery · 07/04/2021 15:44

It won’t put me off my second AZ dose.
I know it’s so hard right now and has been incredibly difficult for over a year now, but there are other vaccines coming through, science has done amazingly well to develop them all and we will get through this.
Hang on in there Flowers

Why are they putting people off?!
Saucery · 07/04/2021 15:47

They can have another vaccination then. Plus, the loudest voices are often those against something, rather than for it and that’s particularly true on MN.

If you have your vaccination (if you can ) then you will be safer.
We can’t carry on like this, that’s true. So I very much doubt the government will keep up the hard- ass act with restrictions. When it suits, with schools for instance, they flatly deny extra risk, so they’ll spin it that things are Safer soon enough.

If they don't want to rationally look at the evidence being given by the experts then there's no other way to persuade them otherwise.
SavageBeauty73 · 07/04/2021 15:49

I'm going to have my second dose.

Sillysop92 · 07/04/2021 15:51

I’m definitely going to have my 2nd dose of AZ. I was quite ill after the first but I felt worse having Covid over Xmas. The benefits for me far outweigh the risks.

Mysterian · 07/04/2021 15:53

Getting my second dose in May.

AnnaSW1 · 07/04/2021 15:53

You're being over dramatic

MarinPrime · 07/04/2021 15:54

I haven't been put off. Am watching the news briefing now and find it reassuring.

LookAChicken · 07/04/2021 15:55

I found it reassuring too.

ilovesooty · 07/04/2021 15:56

If people aren't going to weigh risk up in a rational way nothing you feel will make them unfortunately. I'm rapidly deciding that an awful lot of people are going to think and behave differently from how I would and I can't influence that. All I can do if they're people I know is decide whether or not I want them in my life.

I'm sorry you're feeling so frustrated and low.

greensnail · 07/04/2021 15:56

I really think people discussing this on the internet are not representative of the general population. I've been working in vaccination centres and see hundreds of people every day keen to have their vaccinations. The vast majority are not concerned at all about having the AZ jab, a few are a bit hesitant or anxious but device to have it anyway. Obviously those that definitely don't want it aren't attending the vaccine centres but there is no shortage of people in this country who want to receive any covid vaccine available.

rosie1959 · 07/04/2021 15:56

A bit dramatic those over 29 will not be affected and they will carry on with AZ If you are younger they are changing the type of vaccine being offered It has not blown it out of the water just a change in direction
The rates of Covid as well as deaths and hospitalisation are dropping which is the benefit we need
It will not put me off having my second AZ

Nearly all over 50s and CV have had at least one vaccine dose. This is just such a HUGE difference compared to this time last year.

NHS is not being overwhelmed.

Lots will still have AZ.

Pfizer still being used.

Moderna roll out starting very soon

J&J also due soon

More lockdown rules will be relaxed on Monday

Spring and summer weather coming to help reduce transmission giving a bit of time to sort out any vaccine issues

From someone in a country with the end really not in sight, with only 14% having received their first vaccine and very very few restrictions likely to be lifted anytime soon, I am so jealous of the position the UK is in. Yes it's still shit, but a lots less shit and a lot more hopeful than a lot of other places right now.

Wolfiefan · 07/04/2021 16:00

I’m limiting how much of the news I see.
I’ve had AZ. Looking forward to getting my second dose and being further protected.

Sansaplans · 07/04/2021 16:02

Moderna jabs have started to be rolled out, and I do think many who have had the first jab will have the second, if they don't then the first does offer more protection than zero! If it was the only jab available would be more worried, but I think plenty will still want it, and others can have different ones.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 07/04/2021 16:03

I'm definitely not put off and have found the news conference reassuring. I'll have the AZ vaccine when the time comes. It's a miniscule risk and one worth taking as far as I'm concerned.

Mumsnet isn't the real world. Almost everyone I know in real life is desperate for any form of vaccine and will take whatever is offered - me included.

Kimye4eva · 07/04/2021 16:06

The more people turn down their second dose the quicker I’ll get my first!

Tealightsandd · 07/04/2021 16:09

Why are they putting people off?!
Because there's a big problem with supply slow down for the next two months.

On the bright side if some people are more scared of an extremely rare effect (than the more common Covid and long covid caused clotting) maybe my 2nd AZ dose will be brought forward.

rainbowruthie · 07/04/2021 16:09

My second dose of AZ is due in May, I will be there!
