Along with any other unnecessary travel abroad.

What happens when your partner lives in another country. I havent seen him in almost a year as I have followed the rules. However flights are going daily to all parts of the world and I bet not all reasons valid. So I will be travelling in June regardless I will have had both vaccines by then.
There comes a fine line between living your life and being sensible or being controlled by the state . This virus isn't going to disappear and of course it will mutate. So we either live with it or get used to staying in our house existing as it sure ain't living.
Everyone I have spoken to would rather take their chances than live like this any longer. Even the elderly in homes would rather see family even if it means death than having a year or too extra but alone. I mean when you are in your 80s you are more of a realist.

It's so sad, anything which is fun has been taken away from us- going on holiday, concerts, getting your hair cut, going to the gym. I personally find this intolerable. Life has become drudgery.

QueenBee70 · 25/03/2021 06:38

@IloveJKRowling

Good, holidays abroad aren't essential in any universe. There is a long list of exceptions of essential travel (including funerals, childcare and many other legitimate reasons to travel).

When so many people are dying it seems a bit much that some people get to spread covid around just so they can get a beach holiday.

Yes 95 people a day dying within 28 days of a positive covid test in a population of 67 million totally warrants being locked down and having all our personal freedoms removed . Obviously I feel for them and their families but there are more people dying and suffering from the other effects of these lockdowns.

Completely agree.

It’s all extremely puritanical

We literally have the fun police, and shame on you if you dare to express any gallows humour about any of it

Tzimi · 25/03/2021 07:24

@IloveJKRowling Life isn't just about what's essential. We also need to factor in some things which may not be essential, but are fun to do, and make life worth living. I appreciate that some people probably get some perverse pleasure from being miserable & denying themselves any enjoyment, but I'm not one of them.

Neron · 25/03/2021 07:58

The gaslighting and bullying and now the extra bullying over vaccines is ensuring that compliance for lockdown 4 would be through the floor
Particularly when a £2m contract has been agreed by the government for covid media/adverts. It starts April 2021 and runs through to April 2023.
More adverts telling us how we're still killing granny, or a 180 and how we can live with covid?

Chemtrail123 · 25/03/2021 08:24

Meanwhile there are no dentists or Dr's appointments for anyone without money.

Parker231 · 25/03/2021 08:28

There are doctors appointments. DH is a GP. They have been seeing patients either in person or by phone throughout the pandemic. Their patients have still had emergency surgery and check ups for diabetes, blood pressure etc.

Tzimi · 25/03/2021 09:04

@Chemtrail123 I couldn't agree more, I've recently moved & I can't get NHS dental treatment at the moment, so I'm paying a fortune for private treatment...

Chemtrail123 · 25/03/2021 09:17

Too many phone consultations, these can miss vital signs

Really? That’s massively concerning

The glee with with such wannabe Stasi operate is astonishing, too.
WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 10:11

And if you dare to suggest you might like to do something for fun, you are shouted down as wicked and selfish.

NessieNel · 25/03/2021 10:15

@MaxNormal

If you think that's what it's like in north Korea, you need to read up on north Korea

The poor government have to start somewhere, I don't expect them to get there overnight. But it's a start at least.

agree

And irresponsible, and the greater good, and immoral. Sounds a lot like a culty religion. Well, I got rid of religion years ago. Guilt and shaming is like water on a duck's back to me.
Tzimi · 25/03/2021 10:16

@WouldBeGood I guess that's what happens when you let yourself get bitter & twisted.

Laughable
Fiction

Reality depending on where you live and entirely unfunny to those people.

Lentillover1900 · 25/03/2021 10:28
@Parker231, this with humongous bells on.

I am absolutely sick of overseas travel being solely framed as a bender on a Spanish beach. I live in the US, haven’t seen my parents in 15 months (we usually see each other three times a year) and it’s nothing short of devastating. All they want is to be reunited with me and their grandchildren, and after they’ve had their second dose of the vaccine—current legislation and general b/a aside—there’s no reason that this could not happen.
But even if it was about a bender in Spain... that should be our prerogative to do just that.

Whether it’s seeing family in the US, getting pissed in Spain or a cultural visit to Venice.

We should damn well be able to do that.

Where in the UK?
AnaofBroceliande · 25/03/2021 10:31

Where in the UK?

Large parts of Scotland. Still in the UK. Hmm

AnaofBroceliande · 25/03/2021 10:31

But don't let this spoil your narrative.

Evidence?
Parker231 · 25/03/2021 10:42

I really want to see my family but agree with restrictions outside the U.K. as many vulnerable people in other countries have not yet had their vaccinations.
