So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

I don’t think they’ll formally be allowed to start on under 50’s before the magic date of 15th April - which is this Thursday. I would have expected a big Boris and Hancock announcement on Thursday, but that may not now happen because of Prince Philip.

Maybe announced Monday 19th, with great fanfare?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/04/2021 10:48

Today's numbers will be big. At the vaccine centre I went to (yay me) yesterday they were operating at double capacity.

buttery81 · 11/04/2021 13:18

Thanks everyone. I’m really hoping DH gets the call sooner rather than later - he’s out and about much more than I am. It sounds like it shouldn’t be too long now!

buttery81 · 11/04/2021 13:21

Thanks @DdraigGoch. Another question (sorry!) Does anyone know where we can find the latest NHS England stats, similar to the ones @Boph posted in the attached post a while ago?

Very good news - roll on 4pm! Grin

Sorry, copied and pasted the wrong post - that last comment was meant to be a reply to @OhYouBadBadKitten!

I also think that the 15th April target date is the earliest under 50s will be called. The other thing I noticed is each group seemed to get put on the national booking system around the time the previous group hit 80%. I could be wrong but definitely happened a few times.

They are says Moderna to start in England from third week of April. Then more deliveries expected of AZ and Pfizer in May.

Also J&J to be approved by may. Don't know if we will get it straight away etc. Norovax to be approved in may. We are making that here and the manufacturer has said they are hoping to have some ready to go. How much to start with again not being said.

May should in theory be a exciting and busy month Grin

Looking forward to it... and in the meantime I shall enjoy watching those second dose numbers continue to shoot up! Grin

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 11/04/2021 13:32

Never thought we would be excited at so many people shooting up😂

For personal reasons I’d prefer husband not to have Novavax , not because I don’t trust it , mainly because not approved in the Eu and as we travel loads into the Eu zone it’d make life easier to have any of the other 4. However, husband is 43 , I suspect he’ll be called before Novavax is approved and rolled. Also I need to plan well his dose. We’re meant to fly back on the 25th of July in the event of Spain being in the orange zone then he’d be out around 4th of august which means the soonest he could have his vaccine is 5th , that means we should book his dose end of first week of may or second week of may just to make sure he’s got gap for the quarantine in the event of needing one.
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 11/04/2021 14:26

I want the AZ ideally. So am probably at 46 going to get my preference. It must be very difficult for people to plan around jabs that they have no date for etc. Just fingers crossed in this situation I guess.

buttery81 · 11/04/2021 14:36

Great numbers again! I’m confused - did the much talked about vaccine shortage actually happen? Because the numbers seem just as high as ever (albeit with more going on 2nd jabs than 1st now).

I think it’s happened because the idea was to do 1st and 2nd doses (so over 40s massively at the moment and 2nd doses) so 80k-1m a day. However it’s not happened and focusing on 2nds mainly atm
CaveMum · 11/04/2021 14:42

Interesting thread from my fav statistician on Twitter a few days ago. The charts demonstrate that giving vaccines is not enough alone to prevent a third wave, the timing of the programme has to be right too - start too slowly or too late and the rate of infection will accelerate faster than you can put needles in peoples arms.

That is a interesting tweet. Thank you cavemum ❤

Mumoftwoinprimary · 11/04/2021 16:57

We are now over 61% of adults for first doses and 14% of adults for second doses.

61 + 14 = 75.

Meaning that our vaccine program is 3/8 of the way through.

Still a long way to go but we have summer coming, rates are down and those that really needed protecting are now protected. Things are getting better.

WombatChocolate · 11/04/2021 17:04

Love it when new boxes get shaded for BOTH first and second doses.....and they did today.

Anyone notice a mistake here?

We've reached 71%+ first doses, not just 61%+!!

Mumoftwoinprimary · 11/04/2021 17:19

No - only 61% I think.

10-04-2021 61 14.2

EasterIssland · 11/04/2021 17:20

It’s 61
coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/vaccinations

Imfedupwithallofthis · 11/04/2021 17:20

Actually, which is correct?
Shaded squares say 71% + (probably incorrect), data says 61%, probably correct

Whichever, it is fantastic.
