So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

Fantastic news. Let's hope they keep going.

WhistlingBrooks · 09/04/2021 22:37

It started off as a normal day for me until the news of Prince Phillip's death and then a fortuitous phone call from the local gp who asked if we'd be able to come down to get some vaccines that were going spare because of some cancellations. The husband and I were out in a jiffy and done within minutes at the GP. I am so excited that we will be part of tomorrow's tally. We are early 40s. Every night I read the latest posts on this thread and I never once thought last night that I'd get it before May or even June.

EasterIssland · 09/04/2021 22:42

Glad to hear about it @WhistlingBrooks! I’m doing volunteering tomorrow. Wish they called the husband tomorrow at the end of the day :)

Thanks so much. I hope your husband gets it soon too. Passing on some gold vaccine dust 😊
EasterIssland · 09/04/2021 23:06

Thanks tho happy to wait now tik end of month. We’re travelling to Spain (fingers crossed) middle of July. So April + 12 weeks is my flight. So if they’re gonnna call him it needs to be soon otherwise it’d mess up the dates. Can’t have all in live :)

PuzzledObserver · 10/04/2021 09:26

Ooh, I hadn’t thought of vaccination date clashing with a holiday! We have a week booked (in England) in the middle of May, and my 12 weeks since first jab are up a few days before we go. I had a text a while ago saying I would be contacted at 11 weeks for my 2nd appointment - dont let me down, NHS!

EasterIssland · 10/04/2021 14:00

Cmon Hugo! Give us the update !

DdraigGoch · 10/04/2021 14:12

557,014 new vaccinations in 🇬🇧 yesterday

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 62,274 1st doses / 404,206 2nd doses

10% of the whole population have now had their second dose.

DdraigGoch · 10/04/2021 14:13

We've breached 32m 1st jabs

Bordois · 10/04/2021 14:21

I came across this on twitter, don't know how to link directly so its just a screenshot, but its saying that the situation in Chile is not because the vaccines aren't working. In fact it shows the opposite.

I looked at the vaccine numbers for Chile a few days ago - they are ahead of us for jabs per 100 population and 2nd jabs, but way behind for 1st jabs. Presumably they have stuck with the 3 week dose spacing.

I think what is happening though shows the benefit of the delayed 2nd dose strategy - if they had done that, they could have had over 50% of the total population protected by now.

lunar1 · 10/04/2021 14:50

In the last 3 days over a million people have had their second vaccine, the majority of whine are probably very vulnerable. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

lunar1 · 10/04/2021 14:52

Who, not whine 🤦🏻‍♀️

EasterIssland · 10/04/2021 14:56

@DdraigGoch

10% of the whole population have now had their second dose.
12.2% If we count those that are eligible for a vaccine :) And 60.4% first doses
SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 10/04/2021 17:02

@DdraigGoch

We've breached 32m 1st jabs
Wow! Surely that deserves some headlines even with the sad Prince Philip news. Might they officially start in the under 50s now?
EasterIssland · 10/04/2021 17:16

9k short for 7m second doses.

Baileysforchristmas · 10/04/2021 17:18

My parents and parents in law have all had their 2nd jab, such a relief, I am so grateful to be in the UK right now 😊

WombatChocolate · 10/04/2021 17:21

Good numbers of total vaccines.

Agree that for the next thread, the title should be total jabs....don’t know if it could also be fitted in what 1st and 2nd are, or if that’s too much info.

1st jab was of course the relevant figure until very recently. Now we’ve moved beyond that (good in itself) and totals, first and 2nd are all key figures.

Good to see that despite the reduced 1st jabs, there is still really good news with the 2nd jabs and those total figures of half a million per day are very good still.

Seems the first jabs are going to a selection of people....still lots of over 50s/group 6 who hadn’t booked so far (there will be more than we imagine) plus there are those associated with the immunosuppressive who’ve been added and GPs calling those they think are most in need if they have spares for 1st jabs. However, they have been explicitly told to use any surplus to bring forward 2nd jabs rather than move onto under 50s.

It would be nice if on 15th when we will celebrate the achievement of Groups 1-9 being offered it, something could be said about phase 2 and further rollout. But advise to GPs has been no further deliveries for 1st doses in weeks of 12 and 19 April, so it may well be we see sharper drops to 1st jab figures and that rollout to under 50s can’t officially happen until very late April or May.

yellowspanner · 10/04/2021 17:53

More than half a million doses yesterday. That is amazing.
Thanks to everyone who is involved in any way.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 10/04/2021 19:01

Over 39 million doses given in total.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 10/04/2021 21:47

Fantastic jab numbers Smile

buttery81 · 11/04/2021 08:52

Fantastic figures - we seem to be storming through the second doses now!

I have a question. We’ve now given out just over 32 million 1st doses and there are 31.8 million people in groups 1-9, which means they should all have now been covered if we were jabbing in exact priority order.

I know we haven’t been doing that, but even so, the high numbers should surely mean that we’ll be officially moving onto the under 50s soon. My question is, my DH is in his late 40s - when do you think he’ll be invited for his 1st dose?

Also I can’t believe that over 60% of the adult population have now received a 1st dose - phenomenal!!!!

EasterIssland · 11/04/2021 09:18

In the good news thread there is a pic of most of the 50+ having had their vaccine. Unless many cv and unpaid carers needing a vaccine I’d expect 40+ to roll out soon. It’s in some areas by now.

DdraigGoch · 11/04/2021 09:43

The Welsh data dashboard includes two breakdowns of uptake by priority group, the second of which removes all duplicates so that you can see how many people in (for example) the 40-49 group have been jabbed other than those who were eligible because of being in an earlier group (HCPs, CEV etc.).

Group - 1st - 2nd dose uptake
CH residents - 97.3% - 80.7%
CH staff - 89.2% - 75.4%
80+ - 95.0% - 43.4%
HCP - 93.0% - 80.8%
SCW - 96.7% - 80.8%
75-79 - 95.8% - 49.2%
70-74 - 95.2% - 52.6%
CEV - 92.1% - 24.2%
65-69 - 92.7% - 20.1%
CV - 82.7% - 3.9%
60-64 - 87.5% - 4.9%
55-59 - 82.6% - 2.1%
50-54 - 67.5% - 1.9%
40-49 - 14.7% - 1.0%
30-39 - 3.0% - 0.7%
18-29 - 1.7% - 0.6%
16-17 - 0.3% - 0.1%

Still a few over-50s left to go.
