So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

@14:21user34254356 I don't know about anywhere else, but I am due my second Pfizer in a couple of weeks and got a email to ask if I wanted to go on a waiting list to possibly have it next week if there are any spare.
So certainly not wasting any in my area (North London).

@ThreeorFour

Sorry if this thread isn't the right place for this. *@WombatChocolate* your post prompted me to ask for my elderly aunt. She's mid 70s and CV. Her GP's cutting it fine with her 2nd dose (Pfizer) booked for this week, 11 weeks after her 1st.

She's in London and the high rates during the first two waves scared her. She's got herself very anxious. I've tried to reassure her. Told her vaccines are being held back for 2nd doses, but one of her friends recently had their 2nd dose appointment cancelled (and rearranged) after a delivery didn't arrive.

Do you or does anyone else here know what happens if it gets to 12 weeks? Touching lots of wood it doesn't happen!

I think what Van Tam would say to you is that the antibodies don't just suddenly drop off. So although the desired gap would be no longer than 8 to 12 weeks. In reality a few extra weeks would probably make very little difference. This is because the antibodies would fall alway gradually.

Also their is French research that for people who had covid before one dose tops up antibodies enough not to need the second. We are not following that research ourselves and it is being studied more.

@OhYouBadBadKitten

I've a question too. Does anyone know when antibodies rise to their peak after the second dose. Im wondering how much space I should leave after my second jab dor things like the hairdressers.
I believe the advice is 2 weeks
TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 05/04/2021 15:28

I’m sorry Truely but if you’re going to channel Van Tam you need to give us a football metaphor. Or trains, your choice.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/04/2021 16:02

Sorry I am useless at metaphors. My style is normally long rambling with lots of
SPAG mistakes 😂 Anyone else fancy changing that into a metaphor Grin

Thanks Truely :)

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/04/2021 16:11

Warning I know nothing about football!

How about

A premier league club once climbed to the top of the league table. Doesn't just fall down it again after losing one match. It takes several weeks / matches to end up back at the bottom 🤷‍♀️

Or

A Harry Kane takes several weeks to get in conditions to play a professional game. His overall fitness level doesn't just disappear after the game if he then stops training. It take several more weeks for that to happen.

Wales has now offered everyone over 50 their first jab❤

Mumoftwoinprimary · 05/04/2021 16:13

We’ve done it! 60% of adults have now had a first dose!

Small numbers yesterday - 48k for both first and second doses - not surprising as it was Easter Sunday - but enough to push us over the 60% mark.

For every two adult that have not been vaccinated - there are three that have!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/04/2021 16:39

60% 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Yes, that’s good news.
And given it can’t be used for 2nd doses, it will have to go to those who haven’t had a jab yet, so perhaps it will help the official rollout to under 50s, which would please lots of people.

EasterIssland · 06/04/2021 10:08

hope they call my husband soon for it!

hope he has good news for us! how have we Made it through without him!
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 06/04/2021 11:42

Felt lost over the weekend without Hugo 🙈

I suppose today's jab figures are still going to be affected by the bank holiday

Also expecting the case, hospitalisation and death numbers to be a bit wack for a couple of days.

CaveMum · 06/04/2021 13:29

I’m loving the replies to Hugo’s “I’m back” tweet - mostly referencing Easter and The Life of Brian (he’s not the Messiah!)
