@FourTeaFallOut

Did I read somewhere that the booster shots could be administered at the same time as the flu shot? I think I did but I can't find the link but it would be a good way to drive demand and to cut down on admin.
Not sure but that would be ideal. There are plenty of other vaccines given as combinations eg for infants, so hopefully it’s a possibility

Idk if you read it but great idea. They should do it if they haven’t thought of it already.

Today’s figures are all very good.
Next milestone I am looking forward to is when hospitalisations fall below 300.
I love the Blue Peter appeal style totaliser on the .gov website.

@Frazzled2207 that’s seriously impressive!

Gastonimo · 27/03/2021 19:47

Has anyone whose had the vaccine had an antibody test?

My parents in their 70s had their vaccines about 8 weeks back. Invited to do antibody test through Biobank.

Mum tested positive for antibodies and Dad didn't. Can anyone help me understand why this could be?

@oldertimer2020 thank you so much. That's really helpful 👏

Some of the Sunday papers reporting that Moderna jabs will be available mid April! Great news for us under-50s if so as there will be no pressure for second doses for those.

That’s good tho I think it’s only 17m what we’ve ordered so that would mean 8.5m which is more or less 40-50
Frazzled2207 · 27/03/2021 23:23

I’m fairly sure Moderna does need 2 doses it’s j&j which is a single dose (also coming soon)

You’re right. J&j hasn’t been approved yet. Moderna has
Frazzled2207 · 27/03/2021 23:38

Apols I misunderstood @NeedingCoffee

Hopefully a few of us 40 somethings will get it (twice)

MissConductUS · 27/03/2021 23:55

Moderna did stage 3 trials with 2 doses 28 days apart, so that's it will likely be given. It's essentially identical to the Pfizer vaccine.

Rainingagaininseattle · 28/03/2021 00:17

Over 60% of uk population has either had a vaccine or has already had covid as of today.

We don't know much about how long natural immunity lasts, and people who had mild or asymptomatic cases have lower antibody levels than people who had more serious cases. That's why people with a case history are still getting vaccinated. It also seems to help a lot of long covid patients.
TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 28/03/2021 09:30

I am unreasonably excited by the idea of getting Moderna and thus being different and interesting when my friends and family have all had Pfizer or AZ.
(Really I would like Sputnik because it’s more edgy but that’s not likely.)

Lost this thread, so signing in again.

My good was is I got my vaccine appointment - am in Scotland, so was waiting for the blue letter!

nordica · 28/03/2021 09:40

The Mail headline that talked about Moderna is saying 500k doses arriving in the first shipment so that won't make much of a difference sadly. If the full 17m arrives then that should cover most of the 30-49 year olds who are keen to have it as so many in this age bracket have already been vaccinated though.

EasterIssland · 28/03/2021 09:40

People under 50 in the UK will begin to be offered Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine within three weeks, according to a report in the Mail on Sunday.

More than 500,000 new doses of the US vaccine will be used to expanded the programme to people in lower age cohorts in mid-April, the paper says.

Doctors are expected to administer the first doses of the new vaccine, which will join Pfizer and AstraZeneca in the UK’s vaccine stocks, within three weeks.

Ooo fingers ready for the vaccine booking link!
EasterIssland · 28/03/2021 09:51

Yeah. What I’m not sure is whether moderna they’ll do 12 weeks apart. A friend in Spain had it 28 days apart.

MissConductUS · 28/03/2021 10:01

Has it said in the news if your Moderna shipments are coming from the US or Switzerland?

EasterIssland · 28/03/2021 10:05

Just found in bmj
The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has approved the vaccine as a two dose regime, with the second dose given 28 days after the first.2

What does the BMJ say for AZ and Pfizer dosing intervals?
