Name change for this. I know I’m being overly anxious but I need a hand hold.

My friend is insistent on always sending me doomy messages about the Covid vaccine.

They’re always screen shots of something she’s seen on Facebook. Someone has died, someone has been taken to hospital, someone has had liver failure.
The latest one today is that a 34 year old woman has dropped dead after her vaccine.

Mine is booked for tomorrow and I’m really, really worried.

I already suffer from severe anxiety. I know rationally I shouldn’t pay attention to some random Facebook posts.
I know millions of people have had theirs and have been absolutely fine.

Right now, I’m not rational. I’m panicking and I can’t think clearly.

I’m so close to cancelling my appointment 😭😭

I’ve lived in fear for months now and I’m so looking forward to being vaccinated, but this is just another fear to add to the list 😖

No vaccine or medication is 100% safe, and no medical professional will say so. They weigh up the risks of vaccines/medical treatment against the risks of not taking having them.

Weighing up a 0.1% covid fatality rate against a 0.01% adverse reaction to the vaccine is a no brainer to me. DH has had cancer surgery, and DD has CFS so it would be irresponsible in our case not to have the vaccine.

saraclara · 11/03/2021 13:02

Normally, patients who die in hospital have a post-mortem to establish beyond doubt the cause of death

@NedyNad that is absolutely not the case. Post mortems are less likely to take place after a hospital death than a death at home, because a medical diagnosis has already been made during life, and it is clear what the person's cause of death was. Whereas a death at home is often sudden, so the cause needs to be found. Post mortems are not carried out unless the cause of death is unknown or unclear.

Googlebrained · 11/03/2021 13:03

@Xenia

Your choice. I am currently choosing not to have it (not quite decided but probably won't). One reason the Uk has such a general high uptake of all vaccinations is because they are voluntary.

if don't want it don't have it. If you do want it have it.

No one cares whether you have it or not. What people are objecting to is the misinformation spread.

And the point of the article was not about cancelling post mortems fon deaths due to Covid, if there was a very strong presumption that was cause of death (positive test, relevant symptoms etc) but post-mortems due to vaccines and conflating the two. The implication is from the previous poster that they are trying to hide Covid vaccine deaths.

Googlebrained · 11/03/2021 13:04

The last point was to @Nerdynad

saraclara · 11/03/2021 13:05

www.nhs.uk/conditions/post-mortem/
A post-mortem examination will be carried out if it's been requested by:

a coroner – because the cause of death is unknown, or following a sudden, violent or unexpected death
a hospital doctor – to find out more about an illness or the cause of death, or to further medical research and understanding

I don’t really give a toss about whether strangers on the internet do or don’t get the vaccination. There’s probably still a few months to go before they get to me. But if mine and my family’s lives continue to be restricted for a day longer than they have to be because a significant number of other people decide not to get it I will be fucking furious.

knittingaddict · 11/03/2021 13:21

@GoLightlyontheEarth

Well there is such a thing as listening to your gut. The govt and even scientists don’t really know what the long term effects of this vaccine will be. They don’t even know if it prevents transmission or whether someone will get Covid again. I know of someone who has had the vaccine but for Covid and is now in hospital with pneumonia. I would rather wait and see. With all the new variants it is highly unlikely the vaccine will be effective against them all. Those with health issues and the elderly are more at risk. Those who have good health less so. The vast majority of people who get Covid survive and don’t have long term effects. We only hear about those who die or are severely effected. They are in the MINORITY. Many people having the vaccine will already have had Covid, unknowingly or knowingly anyway. So they have already beaten it, and most likely have antibodies.
You would listen to your gut over the experience and knowledge of scientists around the World? What's so special about your gut? Super powers? Words fail me.

I hate these threads. Even if they are started in good faith, it gives the obstinately uneducated a platform for spreading misinformation and unscientific bilge.

Vursayles · 11/03/2021 13:44

Agreed @knittingaddict.

RampantIvy · 11/03/2021 14:22

And so do I @Vursayles

loulouljh · 11/03/2021 14:25

I think the issue is we don't know..must people have the jab and feel no side effects but no-one can reassure you long-term as we simply don't know.

It's why we need passports. Have your vaccine and join in. Don't have your vaccine and don't join in. You are in society or you are not.
Ridzlovesflowers · 11/03/2021 14:49

It’s so freaking hilarious how some of you complain at others for spreading misinformation yet you also spread misinformation

Ridzlovesflowers · 11/03/2021 14:50

I’ll just go report the whole damn lot of you because none of you are posting factual stuff you are just deciding what’s factual based on your own fucking opinion

Like?

Ridzlovesflowers · 11/03/2021 14:55

I have seen so much garbage here it’s just really beginning to take the piss. One person was explaining they couldn’t get the vaccine due to medical reasons and was told they are letting the world down. And they deserved to go without medical care and be allowed access to social
activities. WHAT???? Are you listening to yourselves? What the actual hell?

FullofCurryandparatha · 11/03/2021 15:04

On this thread?

Parker231 · 11/03/2021 15:18

If someone is medically advised not to have the vaccine, there is no issue - 100%. I object to those making up reasons why they shouldn’t but are quite happy for the rest of to do so in order to develop herd immunity.

I’m pleased I’ve had the vaccine and look forward to being able to start to meet up with friends and family as lockdowns are released. Next step is a vaccine passport so I can visit family.

MrsVogon · 11/03/2021 15:23

I really don't understand the tin foil hat brigade, taking their 'facts' from FB and YouTube. Totally ridiculous.

Why on earth would you take some twatty scaremongering to heart when you have been more or less looking forward to having it and feeling a bit safer?

How do you know that everyone with concerns is getting their facts from Facebook or YouTube?

People should pay little attention to Facebook posts unless they come with a link to back up their claims. However, the same goes for you. I personally appreciate the likes of Joel Smalley and co who back up their opinions with evidence and not modeling which is what people like yourself are choosing to believe in and then claiming everyone else is wrong. Hmm
knittingaddict · 11/03/2021 15:55

Joel Smalley? Never heard of him, so did a quick google. The second twitter message I see has the words conspiracy theory in it. If you have to defend yourself against being a conspiracy theorist then, on the balance of probability, you are one.

Riv12345 · 11/03/2021 16:00

Did you have your vaccine op?

Parker231 · 11/03/2021 16:07

Comments from Facebook

Facebook's policy has been to remove false claims about Covid-19 that it says could lead to "imminent physical harm."
Now, Facebook said it will "start removing false claims about these vaccines that have been debunked by public health experts."

trhfxbtht · 11/03/2021 16:12

I've noticed that you're both terrible people...
