Name change for this. I know I’m being overly anxious but I need a hand hold.

My friend is insistent on always sending me doomy messages about the Covid vaccine.

They’re always screen shots of something she’s seen on Facebook. Someone has died, someone has been taken to hospital, someone has had liver failure.
The latest one today is that a 34 year old woman has dropped dead after her vaccine.

Mine is booked for tomorrow and I’m really, really worried.

I already suffer from severe anxiety. I know rationally I shouldn’t pay attention to some random Facebook posts.
I know millions of people have had theirs and have been absolutely fine.

Right now, I’m not rational. I’m panicking and I can’t think clearly.

I’m so close to cancelling my appointment 😭😭

I’ve lived in fear for months now and I’m so looking forward to being vaccinated, but this is just another fear to add to the list 😖

@mumwon

well done op! distract yourself - how about looking at holidays you might be able to do in the future - or restaurants or theatres - do some fun google searches! ignore anything about covid!
@mumwon

I just keep thinking im having a reaction.
Any little sensation in my body and I’m panicking.

Doesn’t help I have a joint condition and my body is already very achy today!

Well done OP. Good decision made and carried through. You're a 🌟.

hedgehogger1 · 12/03/2021 09:48

A felt a bit rough for a few hours the day after. Had an early night. Was fine again when I woke up

hedgehogger1 · 12/03/2021 09:49

@Cloudyrainsham

Try not to worry. I’m very cautious with vaccines in general and haven’t had any since a baby. However this vaccine is important. . I’ve had the vaccine. My mum sends me negative stuff every single day and I just delete it.

There are vaccine reactions and deaths from any vaccine. This has been rolled out to millions and millions at the same time so you’re going to hear about more of those. But millions have been vaccinated and are fine.

Maybe you should start catching up on the others now? Some of those diseases are more likely to do serious harm than COVID
giletrouge · 12/03/2021 09:55

justanothername2 bloody well done, you're brilliant!
I had mild side effects, felt ill enough for a day in bed but was better in 48 hours. Honestly having the vac is sooooooooo much safer than exposing yourself to the risks of covid. Take it easy for a bit - not because you need to because of the vac but because you're obviously feeling a bit fragile. Honestly you've done so well to get it done given how fearful you've been, what a cracking example to others!

Thanks so much.

I’m just super super anxious now.

I know, I can tell. You're going to be fine, honestly. Have a nice cuppa and watch something funny - take the pressure off for a bit.

Iamdobby63 · 12/03/2021 10:04

Well done OP, you should feel very proud of yourself to have overcome such anxiety. Make sure you give yourself credit for that.

Minor side effects are common, take medication to counter any and try and remember they are to be expected.

Thanks! The nurse doing it told me the same thing about side effects and not to feel worried.

I’m just so anxious about the things my friend has been saying.

The risk of being seriously ill with COVID is more significant and a choice not to take it can impact others- you really should do it- are you an intelligent woman - if so you should know not to rely on SM floral your news or foolish friends. Had mine yesterday. I’ve a headache today and feel a bit lethargic - no biggie- I only know one person who has had a bad reaction- they have serious ongoing health issues

RampantIvy · 12/03/2021 11:04

Well done for going. You really need to ditch this "friend". She is deliberately feeding your anxiety. A real friend wouldn't do this.

If you start to feel rotten please tell yourself that it is because you have a robust immune system.

[quote RapidFire]I've just seen this headline todayConfused

I've had one Oxford dose already but I must say even I'm now having reservations about having the second. It only boosts it by a further 10% anyway.

Very importan to flag up that not all European countries are making the same decisions about AZ:

"But France's health minister Olivier Veran said last night that the country has 'no need' to suspend use of the jab after he consulted with the French medicines agency which advised him against taking a similar action to other countries.

He said the agency urged him to follow the EU drug regulator's ruling that AstraZeneca was still safe to use. 'There is no need to suspend AstraZeneca,' Veran told a news conference.

Other European nations also signalled their intention to continue using the vaccine, including Sweden, Spain and The Netherlands.

Swedish authorities said they did not find sufficient evidence to stop vaccination with AstraZeneca's jab.

'There is nothing to indicate that the vaccine causes this type of blood clots,' Veronica Arthurson, head of drug safety at the Swedish Medical Products Agency, told a news conference.

Spain on Thursday said it had not registered any cases of blood clots related to AstraZeneca's vaccine so far and would continue administering the shots"

Oh and bloody well done @justanothername2 for overcoming your fear, you will be fine.

SparklingLime · 12/03/2021 11:11

I’ve seen doctors suggesting you take paracetamol after the vaccine, to avoid any side effects. Might be an idea if you’re achy anyway, @justanothername2?

NotquitewhatImeant · 12/03/2021 11:15

Well done OP. And what @RampantIvy said.

Yebanksandbraes · 12/03/2021 11:19

Well done OP! You have protected yourself, reduced the risk you will catch Covid and pass it to someone else and are helping to end this pandemic! You may feel a bit ropey for a few days as your immune system gets to work. Don't worry, they are normal reactions. Then you will be so much safer. Well done!

Lordamighty · 12/03/2021 11:19

justanothername2 I had mild side effects after the AZ vaccine, started about 8 hours after & were gone after 24hours. I took paracetamol & rested.
Well done on overcoming your fears & getting it done.

tinytemper66 · 12/03/2021 11:21

@justanothername2

I cancelled my vaccine for Thursday 😔

But last night I gave myself a good talking to and I was so lucky that I got another appointment at my Drs for this morning.
I had it at 8.30.

I’m at home panicking. It’s going to be a dreadful day for me. I’m sat waiting for something to happen to me. Every niggle or sensation in my body, I’m panicking 😭

Well done. The worst is over for you I am sure.
Inastatus · 12/03/2021 11:28

@justanothername2 - well done for going ahead with the vaccine. Which one did you have? I had the AZ one on Weds and felt very achey and fluey yesterday but feel fine today, just a bit tired.

HPFA · 12/03/2021 11:43

Just had mine and sat at home feeling absolutely panicked.

Just reacting to every sensation and hoping it's just anxiety.

Madcats · 12/03/2021 11:53

Just popping back to congratulate you. I bet you were motoring on adrenaline this morning. Well done for overcoming your fears.

If your thoughtful actions save just one person catching Covid, it has been worth it.

Your dose will hopefully be giving you excellent protection by Easter 🐣 (let's hope we have decent weather).
