Name change for this. I know I’m being overly anxious but I need a hand hold.

My friend is insistent on always sending me doomy messages about the Covid vaccine.

They’re always screen shots of something she’s seen on Facebook. Someone has died, someone has been taken to hospital, someone has had liver failure.
The latest one today is that a 34 year old woman has dropped dead after her vaccine.

Mine is booked for tomorrow and I’m really, really worried.

I already suffer from severe anxiety. I know rationally I shouldn’t pay attention to some random Facebook posts.
I know millions of people have had theirs and have been absolutely fine.

Right now, I’m not rational. I’m panicking and I can’t think clearly.

I’m so close to cancelling my appointment 😭😭

I’ve lived in fear for months now and I’m so looking forward to being vaccinated, but this is just another fear to add to the list 😖

Interesting is one word to describe it, not one I would personally use, have you looked at the bottom of the piece with lots of other links ? It reads like a Conspiracy theorists wet dream.

Those links are insane! Some of them link to QAnon for a start. And there's the one about "WHO offered me 20million dollars to put a little toxic in my Covid-19 remedy" which is totally believable of course. Oh, and the link about zombie preparedness. Lots of science behind that one I'm sure.
LoWax · 11/03/2021 21:13

lol sorry I did not see those links i was reffering to the news ones he shared

cinammonbuns · 11/03/2021 21:13

@LoWax you cannot genuinely look at that webpage and take it seriously, surely. It is one of the most blatant conspiracy theory blogs I’ve seen. In Recent Posts, ‘The plot against Donald Trump’ Hmm

VaizyCrazyDaizy · 11/03/2021 21:20

I have just booked mine for next week and I am petrified as I obsess about the stuff I see online and on the news but I am going to make myself have it as I keep thinking it will be safer for me and my family and will make for a faster return to normal life seeing as I really have had enough of being locked up in my house for a year!

frumpety · 11/03/2021 21:28

@VaizyCrazyDaizy its horrible being scared, what time have you booked it for ? can you organise a little treat for yourself afterwards ?

saraclara · 11/03/2021 21:31

Well done @VaizyCrazyDaizy! You definitely deserve a treat afterwards. But you know, the atmosphere at the vaccine places is so positive. Everyone there is friendly, everyone waiting for their jab is feeling positive and cheerful. I bet you'll come away feeling good, and happy to be on the way to being protected. I know I did, and all the people I know who've had one have come away feeling good.

JamieFrasersAuntie · 11/03/2021 21:36

that is absolutely not the case. Post mortems are less likely to take place after a hospital death than a death at home, because a medical diagnosis has already been made during life, and it is clear what the person's cause of death was. Whereas a death at home is often sudden, so the cause needs to be found. Post mortems are not carried out unless the cause of death is unknown or unclear

What absolute nonsense.

do you think when patients die after an operation they shrug their shoulders?

lucie82 · 11/03/2021 21:39

I had mine last week, I couldn't get warm, I felt cold to the bone and had a sore arm, my husband had his today and no side effects at all

I'm guessing you don't work in a hospital and are not a member of the medical profession?

If someone was undergoing minor surgery, had no underlying conditions, and shouldn't have died, yes, there'll be a post mortem if they die on the table or shortly afterwards. But if one has advanced cancer, the operation was complex, and they die afterwards, there won't be. Likewise an elderly person with a bad lung infection followed by pneumonia, will not trigger a post mortem.

BlueLikeASmurf · 11/03/2021 21:46

My in-laws, 4 of them due to divorces and remarriages, who are all over 80 have had both jabs. No side effects.

My DM who is 78 has had her first jab, no side effects. My son, who is in the vulnerable category has had his. Again, no side effects. Both over 3 weeks ago.

I'm booked in for my first jab on Saturday. I cannot wait!

frumpety · 11/03/2021 22:01

I can imagine a pathologist glancing across the local hospital mortuary and thinking 'Bloody hell @JamieFrasersAuntie Ive only got three tables and there are only 24 hours in a day !' .

Unsure33 · 12/03/2021 08:38

Did you go @justanothername2 ?

RapidFire · 12/03/2021 09:07

I've just seen this headline todayConfused

I've had one Oxford dose already but I must say even I'm now having reservations about having the second. It only boosts it by a further 10% anyway.

Wouldn't rely on the daily Mail for a start

saraclara · 12/03/2021 09:29

22 people out of three million had a blood clotting issue.

If you take a sample of any three million people who've not had the vaccine, I wonder how many would have a blood clotting issue within a period of, say, a week? I'm going to guess it would be a similar number.

People get ill. It's normal. Doctors surgeries throughout Europe are seeing people with clotting issues every day, and were doing so before anyone had heard the word Covid. .

justanothername2 · 12/03/2021 09:31

I cancelled my vaccine for Thursday 😔

But last night I gave myself a good talking to and I was so lucky that I got another appointment at my Drs for this morning.
I had it at 8.30.

I’m at home panicking. It’s going to be a dreadful day for me. I’m sat waiting for something to happen to me. Every niggle or sensation in my body, I’m panicking 😭

mumwon · 12/03/2021 09:42

well done op!
distract yourself - how about looking at holidays you might be able to do in the future - or restaurants or theatres - do some fun google searches! ignore anything about covid!

Xenia · 12/03/2021 09:46

And do keep us posted.

Cloudyrainsham · 12/03/2021 09:46

Try not to worry. I’m very cautious with vaccines in general and haven’t had any since a baby. However this vaccine is important. . I’ve had the vaccine. My mum sends me negative stuff every single day and I just delete it.

There are vaccine reactions and deaths from any vaccine. This has been rolled out to millions and millions at the same time so you’re going to hear about more of those. But millions have been vaccinated and are fine.
