This morning I have been able to book my DH his two appointments on the NHS site.
It wouldn’t let me yesterday.
To all those waiting, try every day.

Just off the 119 line. Not able to book yet for my DH. But they also said yes, just that, try online every day Grin.

Well done on getting the appointments @DinosaurDiana

RoseWineTime · 05/03/2021 09:26

Just tried to book 55 year old DH but it still says he’s not eligible.

herecomesthsun · 05/03/2021 09:28

119 said soon, very soon, any day now, keep trying Smile

Mumblechum0 · 05/03/2021 09:29

Yep, I tried every day, irrespective of what the landing page said about the age group as it isn’t updated often enough, and on Mon, got DH (59, no issues) booked in.

Deffo worth trying every single day.

Littlesnail · 05/03/2021 09:34

Thanks for this @DinosaurDiana ! Just tried and it worked for me.

I try 10 times a day! Still can’t get on.

On another thread someone from my area who’s 53 has booked one. I’m 57! It’s so random

KatherineSiena · 05/03/2021 09:40

I got booked in this morning. I’m 59. I had been trying every day but today was the first day it worked. 😃

onyourway · 05/03/2021 09:44

Didn't work for me at 55 Sad

poppycat10 · 05/03/2021 09:44

My husband booked this morning, even though the website says over 60s only.

littlegirlost · 05/03/2021 09:45

I wish Wales had this system. My mum is desperate to have hers (63) and it's frustrating just not knowing when she will get a letter. Today, tomorrow, next month??

So do we think it’s letting 58-9s and. It 57s and under? It could be literally year by year or a couple of years at a time, and then sometime next week they will update front page once all 55+ can book.

Definitely keep checking every day.

I really like to read the little progresses on MN each week. This week Group 6 have been able to book on national site as well as via GPs. Now it seems the upper end of group 8 are booking.

It’s easy to see how we probably will be in the upper end of group 10 (older 49s) by the end of the month.

That's good news op. I'm 50 and feel like it's getting closer to me. I saw Susan Boyle who's 59 just had hers.

MiddlesexGirl · 05/03/2021 09:57

I should imagine that within the 55-59 age group it is by postcode/area.
If your area is ready to move on to 55-59 (or lower) then you'll be able to book.

irregularegular · 05/03/2021 10:01

"Who can use this service
You can only use this service if any of the following apply:

you are aged 60 or over
you are at high risk from coronavirus (clinically extremely vulnerable)
you are an eligible frontline health or social care worker
you have a condition that puts you at higher risk (clinically vulnerable)
you are a main carer for someone at high risk from coronavirus
You also need to be registered with a GP surgery in England to use this service. You can register with a GP if you do not have one.

Find out more about who is eligible to have a coronavirus vaccination.

If you are not eligible yet
Wait to be contacted. The NHS will let you know when it's your turn to have the vaccine. It's important not to contact the NHS for a vaccination before then."

Really unhelpful and selfish to have those who are not eligible overloading the system by logging in multiple times a day!!! My DH is 60 in May and will wait to be contacted like any other considerate person. He has just made sure that his contact details are up to date at the GP.

irregularegular · 05/03/2021 10:03

Though admittedly I'm tempted to suggest he try ONCE to see if he can book.

herecomesthsun · 05/03/2021 10:04

The system isn't clogged up! And the 119 service is encouraging us to do this. There are differences in the system across the UK, so some parts are offering the vaccine to slightly younger people. The sooner everyone gets booked and done the better, really.

I hope your DH gets his vaccination soon.

WombatChocolate · 05/03/2021 10:06

It is not selfish.
The system only lets those who are eligible book. If it has been updated (not front page but within the system) to include them, they can book and not if they aren’t included yet.

This is all part of managing bookings. They don’t want all of an age group to food the system for bookings at once. By adding people behind the scenes who can book, some will do that and it manages the flow. Others won’t book until they see their group mentioned on front page and lots more won’t book until their get a letter probably a week later. It is all part if the system and not queue jumping.

titchy · 05/03/2021 10:07

The system isn't clogged up at all! By checking you would be avoiding overloading your GP if anything, so you'd be helping.

LongTimeMammaBear · 05/03/2021 10:08

Not eligible yet in my area but thank you for the link. Will check again next week.

Mindymomo · 05/03/2021 10:08

I booked mine this morning, aged 59. I booked my brother 63 yesterday, shame it’s at the same venue but 2 days apart, as we could have gone together (in bubble). Couldn’t get the local one, but one about 7 miles away.
