Anyone in their 50s (no health issues) getting theirs yet?

I know 3 people in their mid 50s who have been given appointments (next week or so) for their first jab. No health issues or partners/family in risk groups.

Are they that far down the list already?

Not in my area.
Over 65s began here this week.

Liquorishtoffee · 25/02/2021 18:01

I’m wondering if it’s pointy elbows! One person is on the same council as us but it’s over 65s! Unless he’s been fibbing to us a kit his age!

Yes I have and no pointy elbows here!

SnarkyBag · 25/02/2021 18:09

Yes I know who two people in their 50’s getting their’s next week. Maybe it’s just down to some areas being further ahead than others.

Xenia · 25/02/2021 18:10

We are very behind in NW London. I have not had a call or text other than the GP regularly testing saying do not call as we are not ready. I have not yet decided if I will take the vaccine anyway. (I am in my 50s)

DinosaurDiana · 25/02/2021 18:11

My DH is 60 and registered as a carer at our GP, he hasn’t had his yet.

SallyCinnamon86 · 25/02/2021 18:12

My Mom & Dad are 56 & 57 - no underlying conditions and both had theirs last week in Birmingham

user1497787065 · 25/02/2021 18:14

I've had mine today, aged 56. No idea why. I had a call last week to book in. The only thing I can think of is that I had cancer in 2007. DH aged 62 has not been rung.

Whatafool123 · 25/02/2021 18:20

Yes I had mine yesterday and I am putting it down to lymphoma in just after uni, which has put me on lots of screening lists over the years. Apart from mild hypothyroidism,I have no other medical issues that would explain it. They contacted me, not the other way round.

Karmatime · 25/02/2021 18:32

DP and I had ours today, mid 50s no underlying conditions. We got texts from our GP yesterday. I was surprised, most people at the hub were much younger than us too, perhaps they are in group 6 whereas I assume we are 8. We are booked in for the second one in May, my parents, in their 80s had theirs last month but didn’t get a second appointment.

time4anothername · 25/02/2021 18:42

@DinosaurDiana

My DH is 60 and registered as a carer at our GP, he hasn’t had his yet.
Can he book via the national link www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ as being eligble for carers allowance is one of the criteria?
Hollyhead · 25/02/2021 18:44

Yep my mum is 56 and having hers tomorrow. They’re working through group 5 and 6 around here. Not long now!

RampantIvy · 25/02/2021 18:45

I'm 62 and haven't had a letter yet.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 25/02/2021 19:33

Yes my friends dh did 2 weeks ago , yet my mum 64 still waiting and we are in the same area ? We think maybe his records just wrong

ErrolTheDragon · 25/02/2021 19:37

DH - 59 with health conditions - is having his on Monday. I'm 60 and haven't heard anything yet. Glad to hear some other areas are moving faster!

MaudesMum · 25/02/2021 19:40

@RampantIvy and @donewithitalltodayandxmas You don't need to wait for your letter or contact from a surgery if you're over 60 - you can go online at the NHS booking line www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ and put in your NHS no and date of birth - and they'll give you a list of venues in your area which have spaces that you can book. You may have to travel a few miles. Ignore the front page which says that only people over 64 can book - that hasn't been updated. I'm 60 and got a booking this way for Monday!

DramaAlpaca · 25/02/2021 19:44

I'm so flipping jealous that people my age are getting vaccinated Envy

I'm living in Ireland now and the vaccination programme is frustratingly slow here. I'm in my 50s with no underlying conditions and can't see myself getting a vaccination before August or September.

I'm just happy that my elderly parents in the UK have had theirs.

RampantIvy · 25/02/2021 19:46

Thank you @MaudesMum. I will do that. DH has had his first vaccine and was fine.

Feelingvold · 25/02/2021 19:46

Apparently I'm able to get one on my birthday next week at my DHs work... when I will be 50!
I will definitely be taking them up on their offer.
Not heard anything from my GP though.

Feelingvold · 25/02/2021 19:51

I should point out DH works with Covid patients. It has been a year of constant stressing whether he's going to pass it on

starfish4 · 25/02/2021 19:59

I'm 53 and had it as I unexpectedly qualify through work (I have a second job in which I feel far more vulnerable but wouldn't qualify under that). DH now qualifies under work as well, a friend got funny with me over him accepting, but I told him he wasn't just getting it for himself, it was doing it for all the people he does his best to support and wouldn't want to let down by being off ill.

Really hoping here that it won't be long for anyone less over 50.

constantly · 25/02/2021 20:03

Seems to be 65 plus having theirs in my area, but the take up is very high here

Worriedmother666 · 25/02/2021 20:04

I’ve known a friend have his at 59 with no health issues.

Parker231 · 25/02/2021 20:05

I’m in my late 40’s so probably still a while to wait. I want it as soon as it’s offered, in part because I think many airlines and countries are going to require a vaccination certificate.

sweetnessnfight · 25/02/2021 20:20

My colleague is in her fifties and not in a high risk category and is getting the jab next week. She thinks it's an error but the doctors surgery just told her to come along anyway.
