And there is a few months to go are you worried about the relaxing of the rules? I’m worried as to how to protect myself..very worried I’ll catch it this time Sad

OP posts:
TimeForLunch · 25/02/2021 14:42

Not in the slightest bit worried and haven't been throughout, on a personal level. Of course, I understand it can be serious for some and am mindful of that.

skippy67 · 25/02/2021 14:47

Nope. Not worried at all. Can't wait to get my life back.

mac12 · 25/02/2021 14:52

All the comments equating risk of Covid to risk of travelling in a car - risk of dying of Covid is higher than dying in car crash & that’s for all age groups, including children

[quote SchnitzelVonCrummsTum]@flappityflippers1 - you're allowed the jab when breastfeeding. I'm having it on the 6th March and I'm still feeding my son.

@SchnitzelVonCrummsTum ahhh that’s amazing thanks so much for the link!! That’s made my day 😁

CustardyCreams · 25/02/2021 14:55

Not worried in the slightest. Although would prefer not to catch it obviously.

ChocOrange1 · 25/02/2021 14:55

Nope. I can't wait. I would happily throw social distancing and masks out the window tomorrow. I'm under 30 with no health concerns, covid is not a concern to me and even less so now so many have a level of protection.

DipSwimSwoosh · 25/02/2021 14:56

No but CO OP was so full of elderly people yesterday I couldn't even get in.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 25/02/2021 14:58

I'm going to go to places where there are lots of old people, because although I've not been vaccinated I'm assuming they will have been, so the risk to me is lower.
So libraries and garden centres rather than nightclubs.

I think they're just using it as an example of something which is "worth the risk". Very few people avoid ever going in a car for risk of being injured or killed.

Guidebutton · 25/02/2021 15:02

@Jaxhog

Under 40’s with no health conditions are so so unlikely to be seriously ill.

But still very likely to give it to a vulnerable person. The vaccine isn't 100% effective you know, and most people haven't had the second jab yet.

This is just nonense. Ik the vaccines may not be 100% effective but they are some of the most effective vaccined with have with efficacy upwards of 90%. Therefore, no one is "highly likely" to give it to a vaccinated person
flappityflippers1 · 25/02/2021 15:03

Thanks all for the updated info re breastfeeding/breastmilk and being able to have the vaccine - I didn’t know the info was updated! I’ve asked for my original comment to be removed as would hate to misinform anyone! Flowers

Waspnest · 25/02/2021 15:04

Unless you work in an area that will open up early as lockdown is eased surely you can just carry on as you are now, only doing essential shopping etc. And by the time things like hospitality open up (June?) a huge number of people will have been vaccinated anyway.

I don't want to catch Covid but I know that because of the vaccination rollout my chances of that happening are actually dropping every month, not increasing!

Becca19962014 · 25/02/2021 15:05

I'm worried.

I'm extremely vulnerable and can't have the vaccine.

I lost a "fit had healthy" under 40 family member in October to it.

Stellaris22 · 25/02/2021 15:07

Work in retail so I am worried as I won't be getting it anytime. Worried people will start assuming it's safe and ignore social distancing and mask wearing.

EnglishRain · 25/02/2021 15:10

Right now no, but it depends if people still socially distance as things start to be ease. I will get shitty if people get too close, I've had this issue with elderly people in my area a few times and staff in shops have told them to socially distance etc. I'm under 30 so won't get the vaccine for a while. It annoys me if people don't care about their own risk and then also don't care about mine. It's respectful to others to adhere to the rules.

VoyageInTheDark · 25/02/2021 15:12

Not worried. I want DD to go back to doing normal things like soft play, uk holidays etc

@schnitzel thanks for the breastfeeding info. I was wondering if I'd be able to have it

Frequentflier · 25/02/2021 15:14

I am not super worried but I will continue to avoid crowds, wear masks in crowded areas, and stick to outdoor eating.

itsthatdorkagain · 25/02/2021 15:16

My area seems to be slow, there are limited appointments at the GP apparently. I think I am in group 6, but have had Covid at New Year. I have spent the whole year bloody terrified of this virus, convinced that I was going to die horribly and yes I felt grotty but mainly had a bad headache for 6 weeks and no taste or smell. I have been very very lucky.

Last time restrictions were relaxed I was also very stressed and worried and just tried to keep as safe as I could but I guess it got me in the end.

This time I am worried mainly about the variants and I do not want it again but I am not as stressed as last time. I am hoping that I have some immunity. Just hope that my vaccine hurries up and then I might start to relax more.

Autumn101 · 25/02/2021 15:17

Not particularly worried about it, I want my DC back in school and some freedom for them.

My only concern is getting it and how I’d look after them, DH is working overseas and although my parents have had their first vaccine they aren’t local. But no more worried than if I get flu or any other virus really

itsthatdorkagain · 25/02/2021 15:19

I just do not understand why GP have been given the task of doing the huge Group 6, there are limited appointments so it is slowing things down, they should be done a lot sooner in the mass centres 24/7 as promised.

Muskox · 25/02/2021 15:20

@mac12 Am I looking at the right thing? The tweet you've linked to doesn't show children separately - it only shows the 0-34 age category?

notalwaysalondoner · 25/02/2021 15:21

Not even a tiny bit. If you’re not high up the list, it’s because there’s essentially no risk. I can’t wait to go the pub and have friends stay for the weekend. And I’m pregnant so you could argue should be more concerned. But I’m not at all.

Freshprincess · 25/02/2021 15:24

Yes and no. Yes a little bit about getting it. I have a couple of otherwise healthy friends my age suffering with long Covid. But no, in that I’m late 40s and they have done some 55+ plus here, so once indoor mixing is back on the cards, I should be jabbed.

nancywhitehead · 25/02/2021 15:28

I'm not worried, no. By the time the rules are relaxed those who are most vulnerable will have been vaccinated. Most of those left will be healthy/ young enough to deal with the virus if they do catch it.

TableFlowerss · 25/02/2021 15:28

People won’t be guilt tripped to stay in to ‘protect others’ any longer. Those days have been and gone.

The most vulnerable will have been vaccinated by the time they open up. If people are still worried about their own loved ones then that’s a different story and if they want to take extra precautions over and above having had the jab then that’s completely up to them and fair enough.

Average jo on the street can not be expected to continue making sacrifices.... it’s mental to assume they would. The vaccines here, they will open up when safe and there’ll be no going back thank fully.
