Group 6 vaccine - timeframe?

fireflylanegirls · 23/02/2021 14:18

Sorry for another vaccine post.

I’m group 6. My Gp has confirmed it’s on my records that I’m group 6.

I don’t want to call and chase as I’m sure they are inundated with vaccine calls, but I’m stating to worry that I’ve been missed.

I’m back to work in 6 weeks (on mat leave) and I was really hoping I’d be vaccinated before I go back (office based)

Does anyone know if group 6 should’ve been done by now?

Call your GP. I'm in the same boat but it was only when I called last week that they realised they had missed me somehow - mine is booked for Monday now.

stuckasastuckthing · 23/02/2021 14:19

In my area they are still working through this group

@Literallynoidea

I just feel bad chasing. Maybe I should give it to the end of the week...

Still working through it in my area and are doing it in age order. Update from them today says they're in to the mid 50's at the moment. It's a big group. I'd give it another week or two to see if you hear. Or perhaps email your practice if they have a non urgent queries address to ask how they're doing it.

@FallenSky

So many people say they email their surgery, I can’t find any email contact for mine.

The govt window for group 6 is 23 February-29th March, so will be done within those, depending on supply and demand in your area
I'm group 6 and having mine tomorrow( Wiltshire)
The GP's don't have any more information, the information is taken from codes on your records corresponding to the JCVI instructions

Mindymomo · 23/02/2021 14:39

Have you tried to book it on the NHS vaccination website, you only need your NHS number. That will tell you if you are eligible to book with one of the hubs.

Jkb84 · 23/02/2021 14:40

I am group 6 and supposedly my surgery is still on group 4. I had no idea of the dates given above. Was told it will be weeks yet. Feeling really deflated seeing so many people getting vaccinated in group 6

uncomfortablydumb53 · 23/02/2021 14:41

I'll rephrase( very tired!) The GP's don't influence the list

Jkb84 · 23/02/2021 14:42

@uncomfortablydumb53 where would find the information regarding these dates please? I'm group 6 and supposedly can only be vaccinated through my gp? I've rang them, they are weeks away they tell me

Helenluvsrob · 23/02/2021 14:44

Try booking for the mass vax site

Bakewell79 · 23/02/2021 14:44

Group 6 here too, I received a phone call this afternoon to book me in for this Thursday (Kent)

Hope you hear soon Flowers

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/02/2021 14:45

No one in our area in the 50’s or even early 60’s has been done yet, they’re just starting group 6. How come other areas are getting done so fast.

Isn’t this a national roll out? Shouldn’t each group be complete across the country before moving onto the next one?

Cactusowl · 23/02/2021 14:46

I’m group 6 (carer) and booked via the NHS website today for Thursday.

stuckasastuckthing · 23/02/2021 14:46

ArseIn - I think pp meant the 50s/60s within group 6 were being done in her area

Lemons1571 · 23/02/2021 14:47

@Jkb84 I’m in the same position. Group 6, but a gp in my practice said it’s a long wait. I am fearful that the government target is only to offer us a jab by the end of March. What if we then have to wait months for an appointment?

Online booking says not eligible when i tried it.

stuckasastuckthing · 23/02/2021 14:47

I didn't think group 6 could use the centralised booking site and had to wait for GP contact (but would be very happy to be corrected if I'm wrong!!)

Caspianberg · 23/02/2021 14:49

My mother is group 6 (59, chemo treatment). She called gp last week who said she could wait until March for an appointment at gp surgery, or gave a contact for a larger centre around 40 min drive away. She booked at the large centre and is having first vaccine today.

Jkb84 · 23/02/2021 14:49

From what I'm seeing it's because I'm in my 30s so maybe they are doing it in age order. I think the government need to realise age isn't the only factor as they don't have school age children and which increases our risk hugely

BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/02/2021 14:51

I'm also waiting on a Group 6 call. I live in an area with a huge over 65s population so it'll take a while to get through. GP has confirmed the grouping for me.

stuckasastuckthing · 23/02/2021 14:53

Bobbin - in our area the GPs have been told to focus on group 6, with the over 65s (now apparently over 64s) being directed to the centralised booking system. I'd understood this was national policy.

Flump9 · 23/02/2021 14:53

I got phoned yesterday and booked in for Friday, the waiting is frustrating I know. I was going to wait until next Monday to chase it up so maybe wait until next week?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 23/02/2021 14:53

@Jkb84
They are listed on the omni vaccine calculator and the March date is a definite end as was the 15th February with CEV group
There are 7.5 m in group 6 which is the largest, but from what I've read varies by area, but will still be completed by 29th March Most group 6 are GP lead, but there will be options to go to other hubs in order to reach that date
Hope I make sense( very tired!)

BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/02/2021 14:57

@stuckasastuckthing I believe that's what they're doing here too, but GP said it's not quite launched yet! I will wait, patiently (see what I did there?!!)

Mumski45 · 23/02/2021 14:58

OP I know how you feel. I wasn't sure if I was group 6 or not. I have coeliacs and recently had spinal injection both of which could put in gp6 but neither were decisive. I didn't want to call go to check as I can imagine how busy they are. I held out and have today received my invite.
Each area will be different but gp6 is a large group and will take a few weeks to get through so don't worry I'm sure yours will come soon.
