..can they fuck.

There maybe plenty of reasons why they have too but to lie that it's safe is deplorable.

why does it have to be all or nothing?

Agreed but there's not a single person on Mumsnet who can change it whatever their feelings on the matter

No concerns expressed for staff

It certainly strikes me that the expectations around concern for teaching staff are much higher than some other workers. Food production being one that stands out very prominently to me.

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 19:17

@HerrWanksock your name perfectly suits you 😂😂😂

Fembot123 · 22/02/2021 19:17

I’m not ecstatic about having to wear a mask all day but I will before anyone chops my head off, verbally.

DieZensur · 22/02/2021 19:18

@ineedaholidaynow

For all those telling people to deregister their children. You do realise that this has financial impacts on schools so might result in schools being even more financially constrained that they already are, so will impact your own child's schooling
Not if they are at independent schools (which mostly never needed to shut anyway).

My relief at this news knows no bounds.

OppsUpsSide · 22/02/2021 19:18

Our area is one of those that has rates on the increase, such bad timing! 😅

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 19:18

@3littlewords but I can. As a teacher I can decide 'enough'. I'm not putting myself in a risky situation anymore, not when there is a vaccine that could keep me safe. So me and my 53 year old dodgy heart will be staying home until further notice.

Oh no..... hopefully not for long.... good luck

I'm very lucky and thankful that my area is incredibly low for infections

So much ‘I’m alright Jack’ on these threads

Yes - in particular from people who don't need their primary aged children to be at school because it's not possible to work and supervise children's online learning.

(No dog in this fight, btw - I lost my job a year ago due to lockdown, and my DC are not primary aged).

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2021 19:20

If too many people leave small independent schools, those schools will close. Quite a few independent schools have recently closed @DieZensur

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 19:22

Who wants schools closed ? Because I don't. I want them open and full of happy kids. But not at the risk to my own health. Did it last term as was no other option, but now there is. No clue why if education is so important you'd not want to keep the people delivering it safe.

MarshaBradyo · 22/02/2021 19:22

Ineed how many do you think will deregister? What percentage

I have primary and secondary aged children and I work. I totally understand how difficult this is. I don’t want schools closed, I just want measures in place to make them safer.
ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2021 19:24

It has just been shown on the news that 42% of the people admitted to hospital with COVID are under 65. So priority group 6 and below, so if schools bring up the rate before people in group 6 are vaccinated can still have a large impact both on people's own health but also how many people are actually in hospital with COVID, taking up beds and staff that then can't provide healthcare for patients with other illnesses.

We got that already 🤷‍♀️

TheKeatingFive · 22/02/2021 19:25

Well now you have masks in secondary. What else do you want?

gallbladderpain · 22/02/2021 19:26

The healthy kids can return. The vulnerable (medically) cannot, because schools are so safe...yet they aren't safe for CEV ? Even the government recognises this.
So they are opening but they aren't 'safe'

Awalkinthefreshair · 22/02/2021 19:26

Everyone has their own personal circumstances.
It's okay to feel ANY emotion right now.
There is no right or wrong.
Just don't judge anyone for feeling differently to you.
What makes one family whoop for joy will make another family fearful for so many different reasons.

Bagamoyo1 · 22/02/2021 19:26

I'm very happy!

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 19:27

@ineedaholidaynow but no one wants to hear it. That's why I believe we are heading for another peak. When it's totally avoidable. But we tried to tell them what would happen last term and they didn't listen.

TheKeatingFive · 22/02/2021 19:27

So priority group 6 and below

Let’s keep the momentum up with group 6 then and not get distracted with talk of vaccinating healthy teachers.
