..can they fuck.

There maybe plenty of reasons why they have too but to lie that it's safe is deplorable.
@TrustTheGeneGenie how soon ? I've been told mid March, when I'll have been back in the classroom for a week or 2. Statistically if I catch it I will get v sick.
Are you CEV and waiting?

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 18:58

@Psychobobble actually there would be no delay. Listen to what Starmer said today in reply to Boris. The capacity is there to do it without causing any delays.
@Anna12345678910, it was tongue in cheek 😂You obviously haven’t read any of my other posts, STOP with that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm new.
Was here before and left - the negativity was SOOOOOOO annoying. Nope I haven't read any of your other posts?

Sense of humour is welcome so many on here are so miserable..... Shock

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 18:59

@MarshaBradyo I'm CV. And waiting, tried to chase it but no luck. I'm in the q. Like many older teachers.

pinkpip100 · 22/02/2021 19:01
@pinkpip100 you seem to forget that parents have absolutely no say whatsoever in what measures are put in place in a school other than a strongly worded letter to a local MP that gets ignored. I very much doubt most parents would be against any further safety measures but like you we are all in the same position, a rock and a hard place. Send them in or don't, undoubtedly for most children its better for many reasons to be in school than not. Its not selfish or uncaring for parents to be happy that their child is getting a slice of normality even if it does come with some risks. Admittedly the risks for some families are higher than others but the risks are there for all nonetheless.
But the level of glee on here, the extent to which people are telling those of us with concerns to ‘just keep your children at home and let the rest of us get on with it’....that is the selfishness I am talking about here. No concerns expressed for staff, clinically vulnerable families etc. Just ‘well we’re delighted and that’s all that matters’. I’ve seen it again and again on threads and it’s awful.

Anna12345678910 · 22/02/2021 19:01

@ineedaholidaynow

Kier Starmer is advocating all school staff should be vaccinated
Great. Do it. There are so many spaces at our local vaccination centres - why not have a list at the end of the previous night where people can log on and see what is left and book in? My son went for his and 4 vaccinators sat there doing nothing. He was in and out and then sat in car with me for 20 minutes. In that time only 1 other person entered - what a waste!
SilverGlassHare · 22/02/2021 19:02

@Regulus

Oh ffs. Would you rather we lockdown forever until death isn't a thing anymore

But what difference would 3 more weeks make?

It wouldn’t be 3 more weeks. It would be 5 more weeks. 7 more weeks in total until they go back, from today. That’s a long long time to a child.
Pootle40 · 22/02/2021 19:03

@Anna12345678910

Have you seen the amazing results of the latest vaccine study *@Regulus*
 • the number of infections is dropping
 • more importantly the number of people who have the infection and need hospital treatment is falling sharply indeed the number of people that have had the vaccine that need hospital treatment is tiny!
 • look at the data published today
 • if people don't need hospital treatment then the NHS will not be overwhelmed and we can all live again

YES IT IS BLOODY BRILLIANT NEWS

No doubt the doom merchants will be along/have been along with their gloomy outlooks on everything. Glass half full here - avoiding glass half empty in real life in future - life is too short to even engage with the moaners

@mumsneedwine I just wanted to say you are getting a hard time here but I completely get it. It’s hard when people are saying “we need to accept the risk” when that means they are telling you “you need to...”

There’s a reason why we are in the priority category (albeit too low down for March 8th) but that often seems to be overlooked. Flowers

Fembot123 · 22/02/2021 19:04

@Anna12345678910 I definitely want schools to open and I’ve been in anyway, the cannon fodder thing was more a reference to not ever getting the choice whether I wanted to be in or not like the teachers at my school.

This is the experience in my area - spare capacity - spare slots every day - what a waste.

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2021 19:05

@Anna12345678910 a pity they can't target other key workers too if there is capacity.

Have you had your vaccination yet?

If you are group 1 - 6 many parts of the country are booking in - just keep trying the NHS vaccine booking line. I hope that they start filling the empty slots with people in x type jobs - last minute booking type thing to just fill the slots - it can be done and should be done

RaininSummer · 22/02/2021 19:07

I feel sorry for school teachers and will support any who feel too unsafe in a classroom right now however much children and parents want school to operate as 'normal'. I don't know why we can't wait at least until the vaccine roll out reaches all over 50s or even 40s having come this far.

SilverGlassHare · 22/02/2021 19:07

@pinkpip100
It’s not glee. It’s the exhilaration of sheer relief. It’s utter thankfulness. It’s not that we selfishly don’t care about vulnerable teachers or vulnerable families. We do care about them, of course. But to expect us to be anything other than happy that our children will finally get to return? That’s asking too much of people who have already seen their families suffer a great deal too much. As has repeatedly been pointed out here, the sacrifices our children have made have been to protect the NHS - well, the vaccines are taking some of the slack now so our children can get a little bit of their lives back. I’m not ashamed to say I’m overjoyed about that.

DwangelaForever · 22/02/2021 19:07

You do realise that wrapping your kids up in cotton wool and keeping them locked up is actually compromising their immune system more than going to school right?

I can't wait to get my 4yo back to nursery. The social aspects of it alone never mind educational aspects of it are worth the risk. My 2yo is so strange around people and it's because he's lived half of his life in lockdown. At least he has a sibling!

Anna12345678910 · 22/02/2021 19:08

I agree.
Social workers in and Foster carers have been targeted and vaccinated now in many parts of the country. The county council in many areas of the country have also told the majority of their staff to get vaccinated. Some areas are really moving forward and increasing daily who is vaccinated.

@HipTightOnions thank you, if I can make one person understand the risk they are asking others to make them I'll be happy. I'm so glad the kids are going back, they need it. But I also need to look after my own health and family. Of parents demanded staff were vaccinated then something might happen. Otherwise Boris gets away with this.

Downriver · 22/02/2021 19:08

Ah well, Easter hols spent coughing up guts in bed, then, for those who survive, back for another round.

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 19:09

@HerrWanksock 😂😂😂😊oh you are funny.

Delatron · 22/02/2021 19:10

Those who survive! Has the CFR of this virus suddenly changed and we didn’t know?

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2021 19:10

@HerrWanksock surely a vaccine would be better for a vulnerable teacher. Resilience isn't going to be as much help.

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 19:10

@Downriver why I'm not going in now until vaccinated. Showing my resilience 😊

Alwaysready · 22/02/2021 19:10

No not any safer but lots of vulnerable vaccinated, get them back in.
I'm a teacher by the way!
