..can they fuck.

There maybe plenty of reasons why they have too but to lie that it's safe is deplorable.

@Regulus

Oh ffs. Would you rather we lockdown forever until death isn't a thing anymore

But what difference would 3 more weeks make?

It's unnecessary.
Quartz2208 · 22/02/2021 18:50

Regulus I never said schools were safe or that a vaccine was a panacea but we cant stay in lockdown forever.

What do you want to have happen - I cant quite work out?

happymummy12345 · 22/02/2021 18:51

The biggest load of nonsense I've ever heard

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 18:51

@Quartz2208 keep staff safe so we can keep schools open. Sick staff, schools shut. V simple maths.

Fembot123 · 22/02/2021 18:52

@Anna12345678910, it was tongue in cheek 😂You obviously haven’t read any of my other posts, STOP with that 🤣🤣🤣🤣

wizzbangfizz · 22/02/2021 18:52

It is not selfish and uncaring - I've followed every rule to try and ensure schools can open ASAP - not seen any family for months not even at Christmas. It will never be 100 safe and it is now time for this madness to stop.

Psychobobble · 22/02/2021 18:52
@Fembot123 Thank you, it's just a shame the government couldn't have put my health first too. Then over 300 students wouldn't be about to lose a teacher for weeks. I just don't understand why school staff over 50 or vulnerable couldn't have been done last week.
Because as hard as it to understand, there are still people who are at higher risk of dying than a low risk healthy middle class professional person in their 50s. And they need vaccinating first.

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 18:52

Its exactly the same as when they went back in September. I can't wait and my dc is so excited aswell 😆 🙌

It all went so well Sept - Dec didn't it ? Let's do it all again.

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2021 18:53

I feel for you @pinkpip100

Interesting how many posters have jumped on the bandwagon about vulnerable children but then if something would actually impact their own child eg rotas, masks, to make classrooms safer they suddenly don't give a stuff about the vulnerable children.

It turns out to be 8 weeks before they can started if you delay.

And schools are first back

Were millions vaccinated in September or?
Delatron · 22/02/2021 18:53

Sigh. It’s like we don’t have a successful vaccination program going on. You know like we didn’t have in September..

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 18:53

@Psychobobble I'll just get rid off my heart problem then. I'm in group 6. But no vaccine yet. I'm 53. Now how safe do you think I feel ?

Do you have dc that are happy? Or do they want to wait another couple of months
mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 18:54

@TrustTheGeneGenie no. Agreed. But v v few people who will be working in the same conditions are not vaccinated still.

Delatron · 22/02/2021 18:55

It’s not 3 weeks either. Next term begins 19th April.

TrustTheGeneGenie · 22/02/2021 18:55
@TrustTheGeneGenie no. Agreed. But v v few people who will be working in the same conditions are not vaccinated still.
I would imagine that's because the vast majority of them are healthy under 65s. And if they're not, I imagine they'll be getting vaccinated very soon.

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 18:56

@MarshaBradyo mine are at Uni. Paying thousands for all of this shit, one who has worked on covid wards. They are not having any student experience and are pissed of. But they understand that it's not all about them.

Psychobobble · 22/02/2021 18:57
@Psychobobble I'll just get rid off my heart problem then. I'm in group 6. But no vaccine yet. I'm 53. Now how safe do you think I feel ?
That isn't what you were advocating. You advocated for every teacher over 50 to be done. Most of those aren't especially vulnerable. People with heart conditions in other professions would have their vaccines delayed if the government suspended the vaccine hierarchy in order to vaccinate every teacher over 50 in the next week.

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2021 18:57

Not all vulnerable people have been vaccinated ie group 6. Many people in hospital are group 6, so many school staff and parents are group 6.

Many schools had closures during the Winter term.

I hope this next half term will be fine, but already having seen half the local Primaries have bubbles burst last half term, including one of the schools having to be closed due to number of positive cases, I will not be holding my breath.

3littlewords · 22/02/2021 18:57

@pinkpip100 you seem to forget that parents have absolutely no say whatsoever in what measures are put in place in a school other than a strongly worded letter to a local MP that gets ignored. I very much doubt most parents would be against any further safety measures but like you we are all in the same position, a rock and a hard place. Send them in or don't, undoubtedly for most children its better for many reasons to be in school than not. Its not selfish or uncaring for parents to be happy that their child is getting a slice of normality even if it does come with some risks. Admittedly the risks for some families are higher than others but the risks are there for all nonetheless.

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 18:57

@TrustTheGeneGenie how soon ? I've been told mid March, when I'll have been back in the classroom for a week or 2. Statistically if I catch it I will get v sick.

MarshaBradyo · 22/02/2021 18:57

Oh well good on them Mums

Mine are younger and have been brilliant. But have been stuck at home for nearly two terms out of three.

pinkpip100 · 22/02/2021 18:58

Do you have dc that are happy? Or do they want to wait another couple of months.

Mine want to go back, of course they do. But given the implications it could have for their little sister, it’s not as simple as that. Also, they would be happier to go back on a rota system, with a staggered start over a few weeks, into classrooms that have less crowding and better ventilation. With vaccinated teachers. Far less anxiety-inducing for them. Why does it have to be all or nothing?

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2021 18:58

Kier Starmer is advocating all school staff should be vaccinated
