Green badges, let you go to restaurants, synagogues, swimming pools, shopping malls, etc.

I can't tell if the unvaxxed would be allowed to go to supermarket or send their kids to school.

@XenoBitch

Ugh. My mum had her vaccine today and the person doing it insisted on putting the "I had my vaccine" sticker on display on my mum's coat.
That’s just a nice thing, not some sort of identifier. Like giving out lollipops at the dentist. We get flu badges at work, it’s just a fun thing, no compulsion to wear them
BonnieDundee · 21/02/2021 08:39

I don't like this at all.

Me neither. It makes me feel deeply uncomfortable.

MilkSweatAndTears · 21/02/2021 08:48

I’m lost for words at the amount of people in favour of this

MaxNormal · 21/02/2021 09:09

If it means getting back to normal I’d get it tattooed on me!

A tattoo in a particularly unfortunate analogy here.

Me too. I despair.

I thought that too.

@Jackie2022

I hope the UK doesn’t introduce this until everyone’s been vaccinated. As a healthy young adult I am the lowest priority, so it would be unfair to exclude people like me from society as we’re not allowed a vaccine just yet - it’s out of our control.
I agree. In theory, it's a good idea, but I'd only like to see it introduced once vaccination has been offered to everyone who wants it.

I don't think its fair to exclude ANYONE from society including those who choose not to have the vaccine.
DumplingsAndStew · 21/02/2021 09:25

@dividedwefall

Hopefully it will be as successful as the daft qr codes to get into restaurants. That lasted all of three weeks.
Really? We were using them here right up til lockdown.
NiceViper · 21/02/2021 09:26

@covetingthepreciousthings

If it's an app.. what about all the folk who don't have smart phones to load an app on?
Presumably they stick to the purple zones?

We'll get to see public reaction, levels of support and any impact of foreseen/unforeseen pitfalls once it's been up and running for a bit.

It does show, I think, how very important public health measures are that a country, which has more reason than most for the public consciousness to be sensitive about badges, thinks it is the best way ahead

Haiyaa · 21/02/2021 09:26

Come on now, we don’t need no stinking badges... they can just scan our microchip 😉

MrsSpenserGregson · 21/02/2021 09:30

@TransplantedScouser

Much rather that than living under restrictions - but then I’ve never been a fan of global sufferage.

I do t see why some people should be restricted from having a full life just because some people cant

Oh. like a number tattooed on the inside of your forearm?

FFS.

Eww, like she’s a toddler 😡
DumplingsAndStew · 21/02/2021 09:32

Come on, I'm not sure @TransplantedScouser meant a tattoo in that respect, and probably hadn't considered the connotations. It's likely they just meant they'd do whatever necessary.

GeorgiaMcGraw · 21/02/2021 09:33

This is so creepy and discriminatory. As I understand there are always people with immune problems who can't safely have vaccines, and any woman trying to conceive, or who is pregnant or breastfeeding, has been advised against the vaccine. This is a way to exile us from society if we haven't had the vaccine, regardless of our reasons for not having it. Especially egregious considering the vaccine is not 100% effective, and it isn't designed to stop transmission. And places such as care homes that have had it still aren't allowing visitors. My nan's care home has a "safe pod" where you have no physical contact, you are separated by screens. The tennants have been vaccinated. Still, we are denied the right to visit her, even in the pod. So I really don't trust any of this.

Fembot123 · 21/02/2021 09:34

I’m not particularly worried about Covid, I’m going to have the vaccination so I can try and protect those who can’t be vaccinated and even those who won’t because they are scared/haven’t got the ability to understand scientific evidence but I’m not wearing a badge, that’s is a dark and dangerous avenue.

TransplantedScouser · 21/02/2021 09:35

Look. If this is the only option to allow mass gatherings, spontenaity and being able
To live then bring it on.

I’d be sorry for those who can’t but that’s not my problem especially if it’s by choice and I would expect those with genuine medical exemptions to be given the badge or what ever.

It’s almost as bad as a school local to me which removed all school trips and holidays on the basis that some couldn’t afford it therefore no one should be going on them

It’s inconveniencing the masses for the minority and that’s not the way to go

Sleeplessinsaltend · 21/02/2021 09:36

Many people with drug allergies can not have the Pfizer of the AZ vaccine. Will we be excluding them from day to day activities. Also children with sever autoimmune issues (such as my oldest DD) who isn’t allowed any vaccines due to previous reactions. Will she be kicked out of uni? Barred from social life, travel and even shopping. As others have said, it’s a slippery slope.

TransplantedScouser · 21/02/2021 09:37

And being too stupid or scared to have it is no excuse.

Educate yourself or get over yourself - it’s your choice so deal with the Consequences you bring on yourself

pinkhappy · 21/02/2021 09:38

Do you know how many can't have either?

TransplantedScouser · 21/02/2021 09:41

It’s also completely different from being badged or tattooed because of your race - this would be based on a conscious choice made by the individual not something they can’t change.

The genuinely medically exempt would not be excluded

Fembot123 · 21/02/2021 09:44

@TransplantedScouser

It’s not as simple as that, most people against it think they are educated and are making an educated decision not to have it and those that are having it are the stupid blinkered ones.
FourOnTheHill · 21/02/2021 09:45

Some people can’t have this vaccine for medical reasons. For example a friend spent 2 months in hospital after a flu jab and has been advised not to have the covid vaccine even though she is clinically vulnerable. Where does this leave people like her?

Sleeplessinsaltend · 21/02/2021 09:46

Pinkhappy quite a lot - it’s a real source of worry in the allergy community, as are the possible passports. It’s due to PEG and ethanol. Many people have a reaction to both so it rules out both of the vaccines. Also if you’ve had a drug reaction in the past that the immunologist has been unable to pinpoint what may have caused it then the advice in the Green book is to avoid. Many vaccinators are wary of potential effects. I’ve been offered the jab but I’m pregnant right now, so would have it later. However it’s looking unlikely that DD will be able to have it. We don’t have the info on the Moderna vaccine yet so it many be a possibility. However, she has been strongly advised against having any type of vaccine due to very serious complications previously. If I ever discuss this though I’m called anti vaccine, which I most certainly aren’t. Myself and the other children are all vaccinated and I had my whooping cough vaccine this pregnancy.

Exempt I assume. But this must be very rare.
