This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4155962-10-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to discuss our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain or anything else along those lines - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a mind-blowing 16,875,536 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 32% (or 1 in every 3.1) of all UK adults.

Every day, hundreds of thousands more people are gaining excellent levels of protection against this sodding virus. So, let’s keep jab jab jabbing our way onwards, upwards and out of this. Covid, we’re coming for ya!!!

InterfectoremVulpes · 20/02/2021 18:41

It’s amazing. And so many people working hard on the front line to get it delivered. Working extra on weekends and evenings. An amazing effort all round 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻

OooErrThor · 20/02/2021 19:52

New thread & we're whizzing through the vaccinations Grin

Paddy1234 · 20/02/2021 20:35

Hi everyone - two weeks ago we had 180 positive test results - yesterday 17 - it's nose diving 👊

Paddy1234 · 20/02/2021 20:36

And all but one of the new cases are asymptomatic

Paddy1234 · 20/02/2021 20:37

And I want that delivery driver ❤️

Butmiss · 20/02/2021 20:46

I love this thread, such brilliant news! Smile

I'm very pleased that the AstraZeneca inoculation I had on Thursday at about 1pm hasn't had any adverse effects at all, not so much as a sore arm for an hour.

Now I need to be careful for another month, and not drink alcohol or rush about too much (hah! as if) for three weeks or so to give it the best possible chance to work efficiently. When this all started I was already on 1600 units of vitamin D a day for my thyroid condition, which might help too...

From Sky news:

Boris Johnson has pledged that every adult in the UK should be offered a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of July.

The accelerated vaccine rollout would help protect the most vulnerable sooner and also enable the easing of some lockdown restrictions, the prime minister said.

People aged 50 and over and those with underlying health conditions will be offered a jab by 15 April.

And by 31 July, all adults should have been offered a COVID-19 vaccine, though the order of priority for those aged under 50 has yet to be outlined by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

Nice he is catching up with the rest of us Grin

EasterIssland · 20/02/2021 23:09

Cool! For once I’m happy I’m closer to 50 :) tho still middle 30s :)

Paddy1234 · 20/02/2021 23:18

Very excited as well about the potential for 5 minute LFT. If they are coming on board they will back
up the vaccination drive until
Everyone is offered one

herecomesthsun · 20/02/2021 23:47

I'm more excited about the saliva tests than the LFTs as the sensitivity and specificity are better.

But yes a 5 minute test would be very handy to detect people who are very infectious.

Me too😂
vodkaredbullgirl · 21/02/2021 01:30

Still got to do the lft twice a week at home and once a week for the other.

WetJan · 21/02/2021 07:32

Found you all! DH woke up this morning and the first thing he did was talk about the vaccine programme being accelerated. Good chance of the over 50's being vaccinated and with two weeks to build immunity by Easter 🥳

Wherediditgo · 21/02/2021 08:23

Sorry if this has been answered but does anyone know how they plan to boost vaccination numbers? Love the good news of the latest dates for over 50s and ALL adults by July, but the average number of vaccines being delivered daily seems to be a little lower than before?

Mumoftwoinprimary · 21/02/2021 08:55

The big problem is supply. They have capacity to do 600k a day (evidenced by the fact that they have hit that number) but supply limits it. Last week and this week coming up the Pfizer capacity is much reduced as production is being “re-jigged” (highly technical word there) but the hope is that by 1st March production will being higher than before.

From 1st April production will go up further as there is expected to be more Oxford plus Moderna is supposed to come available.

That makes sense - thank you Smile
OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2021 09:00

I guess they are expecting an acceleration in supply.

It's brilliant news. I hope that we can also then share our surplus vaccine with other countries and help get them done too.
