This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4155962-10-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to discuss our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain or anything else along those lines - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a mind-blowing 16,875,536 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 32% (or 1 in every 3.1) of all UK adults.

Every day, hundreds of thousands more people are gaining excellent levels of protection against this sodding virus. So, let’s keep jab jab jabbing our way onwards, upwards and out of this. Covid, we’re coming for ya!!!

Great numbers today - 18,691,835 means 35% of the UK adult (over 18s) population have now had their first dose. Good to see 2nd doses ramping up too - we’re suddenly on 700,718!

fantastic!

AllAroundTheWrekin · 25/02/2021 18:40

From what I understand police, firefighters etc are quite rightly being slotted in for spare vaccines.

Gosh, imagine being on a video call with Her Majesty! Thanks for sharing, someonesmum, really enjoyed that Smile

Someone I know was meant to get vaccinated today but she was the only one of the evening slots so they tried to get her to have it earlier which she couldn't do so they rescheduled. When I went the line wasn't as long as when I took my mum but I heard they'd already done 400 people by 12:30, I just hope it means people aren't massively declining in my area. The drop in cases has kind of plateaued in my area and we've gone rank ~250 to ~190

starfish88 · 26/02/2021 04:49

I do wonder in those small areas how much it relates to one outbreak. Where my parents are there has been a jump in cases but no deaths so I am wondering whether it relates to a school with unvaccinated key worker children or maybe a vaccinated nursing home. If it's the latter I suppose it shows the vaccine is doing its job.

Morning all... can we get to 19 million today? Grin

Great numbers but it is personally disappointing that my CV teacher husband is still waiting while his twin with no underlying conditions in North West London has been jabbed. Not sure what the answer is and I am thrilled to see anyone jabbed but surely this is not vaccinating on the basis of clinical risk.

Wow, that's brilliant Grin

I love this thread, watching the numbers go up

Morningmaeve · 26/02/2021 07:44

Don't mind me - I don't want to derail the thread. Am just disappointed my local area aren't going a bit faster with the CV...

PuzzledObserver · 26/02/2021 08:37

A lovely sunny day to be vaccinating - and yes, I think we’ll get to 19 million today.

I saw a fb post about my local vaccination hub saying they had capacity for 1,000 per day but had only had 200 coming and saying anyone could come.... but you can’t book via the website unless you’re in an eligible group, so I don’t know how that would work. Frustratingly, I can’t find the post now...

Don't worry we understand I am sure. Hopefully it won't be to much longer. Things are supposed to speed up again in March. More supply and all that.

Imagine it’s been deleted. I think it would be good if hubs in this situation could invite the next group down or teachers for example to use up the spare slots however encouraging a free for all probably isn’t a good idea
Frazzled6 · 26/02/2021 09:18

Perhaps there should be an automated default in the system that flags up when mass booking centres are not fully booked 48hrs ahead and a notice can then be sent to local Gps so they can text out invites.

Frazzled6 · 26/02/2021 09:22

I would also add that I think a decent percentage of people are getting side affects from AZ that means that they probably can't work the next day so maybe a good idea to try and ensure that people are aware of this going forward as more of the working population are vaccinated.

buttery81 · 26/02/2021 09:42

Looking at this BBC chart, we should now have completed all 65-69s and be 1,191,835 jabs into the next group (16-64 with underlying health conditions and unpaid carers for the elderly and disabled). To finish the current group, we need to get to 24.8 million. We will then be into the 60-64 group! This is assuming we’re doing everyone in exact order of course, which we’re not. But a nice way to look at it all the same Grin

im taking 2h tomorrow of volunteering and it's CV under 64s today and tomorrow.
I didn't pay much attention yesterday to the news, but did they release % of each group that have taken the vacs so far? think they said they'd the other day in the news so was curious to see

mateysmum · 26/02/2021 10:29

It seems like the age groups are proceeding in parallel to Group 6 and moving faster. So lots of areas are accepting group 7 (60-64) whilst group 6 are still being worked through. I don't think this is "unfair" so much as just the way the system is working to identify and contact specific individuals in group 6. Anybody have other theories?

Group 7 is quite small, so I'm going to keep checking the booking site as I'm group 8.

lurker101 · 26/02/2021 10:41

I saw on another thread (thank you op!) that NHS England have now published more detailed data on vaccinations such as by council area, ethnicity, age group etc. It’s in the weekly excel file dated yesterday.
Worth a look to see how your area is doing 😊

Baileysforchristmas · 26/02/2021 10:42

I’m group 9 a few million in front of me but that’s ok as not in at risk job or healthwise, i’m quite happy to wait, the more people vaccinated, better for all of us all round 😊

Frazzled2207 · 26/02/2021 10:46

@buttery81
yes but don't forget a LOT of people are in two groups. Some might be in three (hcp, cv, over 50). So I think we are further along than what we think
On here I have read about many people 60-64 being vaccinated and some areas are def onto the 50s

Frazzled2207 · 26/02/2021 10:48

I think we could get to 20m on Sunday. The end of the month. Only small question mark is with increasing 2nd jabs that might skew the first jab figure but still doable I reckon. 20m is such a huge chunk of the adult population.

Correction to this - it wasn’t fb, it was a WhatsApp group, and it wasn’t just turn up at the centre, it was book via the national website even if you’re under 64! Several people locally have told me they’ve booked theirs, but it seems to vary by area, as my sister (60) 20 miles away can’t get in.
