Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

Great news @MadisonAvenue
Hope you stay feeling well @louisejxxx

I hope not insensitive to post - I’ve got a date for my 2nd dose in 2 weeks time.
Our supply must be good ...
🤞 for more 1st and 2nd doses asap.

tobee · 16/02/2021 19:07

Ooh @Pomegranatespompom! That's very interesting. What will the gap be? And was dose 1 Pfizer?

So glad to hear this Poms! Did you have any side effects with the 1st one?

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

All the daily figures are down by around 25% since last week aren't they?
Down about a third in many cases. If you look at the seven day figures which is more reliable IMO cases are currently down 29%. Tuesday is the biggest day for deaths due to weekend lag. Wednesday usually the biggest day for cases as more test on Mondays

I love the Twitter person but it’s not me!!

@tobee

Late to the pancake talk. I love a pancake but am now pleased that my dd makes them for us all. I'm still traumatised from when they were kids and pancakes were eaten in a nano second
I did them for my 3 and was reflecting how easy it is now they are 11, 14 and 15 compared with when they were little because all I had was do was cook the pancakes and they sorted out their own toppings- memories of running frantically backwards and forwards between stove and table sorting out toppings and cutting up!
BessMarvin · 16/02/2021 19:47

I'm wondering how much detail we'll get on Monday about the plan for reducing restrictions. My personal interest is toddler classes. My baby had only recently started some before lockdown and now she's 16 months. They never seem to cover this stuff in the headlines funnily enough!

She loves climbing and has never been to soft play. I can't wait to see her little face when she realises there's more to life than home, nursery and being pushed round a park.

louisejxxx · 16/02/2021 20:20

So I’ve tested negative but have a temp and am achy Confused very confused now! Any idea what I do next other than continue isolating? Should I wait a couple of days and then test again if symptoms persist? Apologies as I know this isn’t really a thread for advice, but I know you guys have the knowledge.

tootyfruitypickle · 16/02/2021 20:40

I've reached the pinnacle of motherhood today. I hate pancakes and am crap at cooking and normally wait until dd comes home from school having found out it's pancake day and demands them!

Today she came downstairs to me wafting around the kitchen preparing the batter. And I didn't even burn them. Largely as now, thank god as she is older, it was completely a team effort .

Pomegranatespompom · 16/02/2021 20:44

I have had Pfizer, my second dose will be 10 weeks exactly. Frontline nhs.

1st dose - sore arm, bit itchy and a lump for 3-4 days. Also felt a bit lethargic.

@louisejxxx I’d test again on a few days.

Hmmm. I'm in a similar boat; tested today, after spending last night with aches, shivers and a temp of 38.7, but I had Covid just before Christmas! Surely I can't have it AGAIN, after only 2 months?!
tobee · 16/02/2021 20:54

Thanks @Pomegranatespompom for the info.

🤔 If I'm lethargic after my vaccine will anyone notice the difference?

Shehz21 · 16/02/2021 21:17

DH is frontline NHS, had Pfizer and similar symptoms to you. His 2nd dose is scheduled for the 26th of March 11 weeks after his first.
He had quite high temperature the first night especially and a very sore arm.
MIL on the other hand had the AZ and no side effects at all.
I am meant to be group 6 due to having aplastic anaemia and looking forward to mine! Will be happy with either, however with workload is mad atm so hopefully not much side effects.

@tobee DH, who is usually very active, was lethargic and it was quite noticeable with him. Me, on the other hand, you'd never know Grin

Good stuff ❤

Do you want to plonk that on the 10 million people vaccinated thread. They would find it interesting too if not on this one as well.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 16/02/2021 21:31

I did that oxford risk test thing that people have been sharing the link for today

Looks like I am pretty high risk and my husband is already half dead. So that isn't very cheery news🤷‍♀️😂

Oh dear. Hope you aren't to bad with it. Flowers

Definitely test again after a couple of days.

ACovidofWitches · 16/02/2021 22:02

I liked this article tonight. For all the frothing about schools here, the NY Times is reporting that 175 paediatric disease specialists in America are saying OPEN THE SCHOOLS even where community cases are high and not everyone is vaccinated. We aren't the only country pushing for this. Children need to be in school - they are far more at risk by not being there. There are so many experts looking into this worldwide and large numbers of them are coming to the same conclusions. I daren't post this on an actual schools thread, btw.

Pomegranatespompom · 16/02/2021 22:21

I’m really looking forward to reading that @ACovidofWitches thanks for linking.

Maybe post it with a pic of Tracey from fb ??

BrownFootStool · 16/02/2021 22:25

Aren't humans brilliant. This thing happened and boy are we fighting back with everything we have! This thread has made me feel hopeful for the first time in ages. If only the media would report like this instead of doom-peddling for clicks!

alreadytaken · 17/02/2021 00:05

those concerned about negative tests - what type and how long since possible exposure? Lateral flow tests are only about 50% reliable and PCR are not entirely accurate either, especially in the first 3 days. But other viruses are still available.

Meanwhile up the vitamin D anyway.

Where is that pic of Tracy from Facebook again - I really needed it today for a particularly ill-informed comment.

A few from my selection you can borrow. Let me know if you need more 😂

"Lateral flow rapid Covid tests pick up 90% of cases, study finds - Pulse Today" www.pulsetoday.co.uk/news/coronavirus/lateral-flow-rapid-covid-tests-pick-up-90-of-cases-study-finds/

You know, lateral.flows aren't as bad as some like to make out. They capture the large majority of those who would go on to infect someone else.

I know that's not as useful to someone as an individual who wants to know if they have the virus for whom it is less accurate but I just though that I'd add that as I see that stat all the time on other threads and it goes
unchallenged because it suits the narrative and has become a life force of its own.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/02/2021 02:49

I agree they definitely have their place and can be a useful tool if used correctly

The main issue that made everyone have a downer on them was the whole school testing thing. The idea of using them instead of isolating. The risk that would leave possible positives infecting everyone

However between the general guidance and that changing and vaccinations to all adults it should now be a positive move for schools.

Really like the idea of the hospitality and leisure industry using them to help open.

starfish88 · 17/02/2021 03:18

Can anyone do a quick explanation of the new varient. Obviously over there in now means that the vaccine doesn't work and this is it for life. Clearly not the case before anyone else wobbles but I'm worried it will mean the road map for the 22nd is less positive. Just reminding myself cases are still falling rapidly.
