Out of curiosity, how many people do you actually know had COVID or sadly died with it?

So in our company of about 1000 employees, 40 people (including their immediate family) have had COVID and recovered.

Too many to count. And a lovely friend of mine died of it. No underlying health conditions. It’s very real.

ripples101 · 13/02/2021 22:22

@PinkTonic

So you know people who have had it then.

Puut · 13/02/2021 22:25

Just one, a friend who lives in London got it just before Christmas, he's in his 30s and had mild symptoms thankfully.

Wineloffa · 13/02/2021 22:25

I’ve had it and my husband and two kids. My brother in Germany and his wife and two kids. DD (16) reckons she can name 15 friends and acquaintances who have had it. Two close friends, three work colleagues. My in-laws have both had it and my parents next door neighbours are currently both in hospital with it. Unfortunately my Grandmother’s next door neighbour died from it last month.

elprup · 13/02/2021 22:31

I only know one person who’s had it. A friend’s dad very sadly died from it (although he did have underlying health conditions).

Weedsnseeds1 · 13/02/2021 22:32

Lost count. 2500, 3000 maybe. Don't know them all personally, but work in a role that involves multiple factory visits.
Obviously it's fine, because they are just factories and warehouses, so there is no problem. Mainly low paid workers, that just keep the food chain running.
Personally, as in, I would have them round for a meal, 2, husband and wife.

diamondpony80 · 13/02/2021 22:33

No one that I know personally.

Dongdingdong · 13/02/2021 22:34

all my friends

Every single one of your friends has had Covid? Confused

Stinkywizzleteets · 13/02/2021 22:36

I had it last March. Took me many months to start to recover, still have some learning side effects now.

I’ve lost 5 relatives to it. 2 were elderly, 3 were not, two of those didn’t have underlying conditions.

I’ve known quite a few people to have it and recover within a few weeks and one or two stuck with long covid.

What really struck me is a young woman I know of about 23 had it mild but it aged her face quite badly, she now has big black rings around her sunken eye & looks so unwell. I was really surprised by that. I aged after getting in quite a bit but I’m old. I didn’t expect you yesterday to react like that too

alpenguin · 13/02/2021 22:36

*youngsters not you yesterday

CeefBurry · 13/02/2021 22:38

One family member has died from it
Another has long Covid
Another died with Covid but was resuscitated and thankfully lived.

Five family members have all had it.

Headteacher at my children's school and lots of parents and children also at the school.

Yes everyone of my friends.
Don’t know why you think that is hard to believe.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 13/02/2021 22:40

In the region of 20. Possibly more, as lots of my students had it. No deaths apart from my friend's dad who caught it in hospital, he died of cancer though - the covid was asymptomatic.

noblegreenk · 13/02/2021 22:53

8 people. 4 last year and 4 this year. Luckily none of them needed hospital treatment and have recovered well.

Hoppinggreen · 13/02/2021 22:55

About 10, 2 died

0gfhty · 13/02/2021 22:58

None

2boysand1princess · 13/02/2021 22:59

Easily more than 100 now.

2boysand1princess · 13/02/2021 23:00

Only one of my friends hasn’t had it. All her family have. She either caught it and had no symptoms or she’s been lucky

UnderCaffeinated · 13/02/2021 23:01

I personally have had it, so did my DSS, although my partner didn't catch it at all (He has a compromised immune system as well and is on immunosuppressants) and then we also know at least 9 people who have had it, one had it early September, 3 in October and the rest all between December 20th and January 1st. I didn't know anyone who had it during the first wave of infection.

Mad6kids · 13/02/2021 23:31

None

GoldenPenPot · 13/02/2021 23:37

Confirmed cases in people I actually know (rather than a friend of a friend of a friend) - 4.

Female, mid-40s, mild flu like symptoms for a couple of weeks, full recovery.

Female, mid-60s, cough, fatigue and stomach problems for about two weeks. Overweight. Full recovery.

Male, mid-60s, morbidly obese with a heart condition. Mild cough for about a week. Full recovery.

Male, 80s, chronic lung condition that he was already being treated for. Died (unclear whether this would have happened anyway).

I really wanna know how????

ifitpleasesandsparkles · 13/02/2021 23:49

@JengaJanga

How have some of you got ‘noone they know’

I really wanna know how????

How do we not know anyone who has caught or died from covid?

That's a weird question. I don't know anyone who's had it because no one I know has had it...

My partner doesn't know anyone who's had it. His family don't know anyone who's had it. My family don't know anyone who's had it.

🤷🏻‍♀️

I think, given the actual statistics, that PPs saying they know 50 or 60 people who've had it is a stranger claim to make.

ThatsGoodCakeLove · 13/02/2021 23:50

Zero.
