Furlough / working backside off

Am I the only person who is hacked off seeing people frolicking about whilst on furlough, while my husband works 12 hour days ? Also we have stuck to the rules throughout. I appreciate that he is lucky to have a job but he is worn out , not a break from the screen, has had shingles and eczema over the lockdown months, but still carries on without complaint. Meanwhile others ( some through no fault of their own ) are furloughed and having a jolly old time . And who will have to pay the furlough money ??? Us !! Makes me bloody angry.
@Waxonwaxoff0 but the guidance also says the school places should be used when there is no suitable adult at home to look after the child. She’s furloughed with nothing to do all day. She works in a gift shop. It’s closed and she’s already said she hasn’t got anything to do. I’m sorry but it’s a piss take.
Also there could well be other reasons why the child is going to school that you aren't aware of.

@PinkPiranha11 if you know so much about your neighbour just ask her why then .
So your annoyed that she’s furlough or that she has a child at school .
The furlough thing not her fault , the child in school there will be a reason even if it is just that her dh is a key worker. It’s not a piss take my love to want your child in school .
Again directing your anger at the wrong people.

A good friend of mine is furloughed and has her child in school. It’s absolutely no ones business why but her son has additional needs and a social worker due to horrific abuse by her ex husband.

It makes me sick to think that there are obviously people walking around judging her for this. Fuckers.

I do feel resentful when I see people posting things like “take advantage of the little things in lockdown... slower mornings, no commute...” when I’m awake at 6 and then getting ready to leave work.

year5teacher · 13/02/2021 11:23

*leave for work

To be honest though, I’m more jealous of people who wfh. I would not want to be furloughed at all. And I’m sure people who wfh would like to go into work... they both have their own stresses. It’s just annoying when people act ask though “we’re all in this together” hunkering down at home and being able to “take things slowly”.

I am grateful DH and I have jobs that are still paying the bills and are fairly secure for the longer term. Everyone I know on furlough is worried about how they're going to cope much longer financially and worried about being made redundant.

A fair whack of people furloughed are going to lose their jobs.
