Typical MN hysteria here
It’s about travel from abroad. If you are stupid enough to go abroad on holiday in a pandemic accept you do this on your way back. Agree it’s difficult if you have had to go and see parents abroad for an emergency but it is what it is
As another post says lots have been saying boarders should have been shut earlier, quarantine should have been done earlier, enforced better and now it is its draconian,
No one is stopping you from travelling, just saying add this cost and time needed to your holiday ( although international travel is banned at the moment for mist anyway)
There are some nasty variants out there. What would you prefer more cases? Longer lockdown?
Let’s look at this with logic instead of hysteria, someone comes into the country from South Africa bringing the variant with them, they are asymptomatic . They decide not to quarantine because why the heck should they, they feel ok.
They go to family, go to a work meeting or whatever. Let’s say they are in contact with three others, those three others catch it, and spread it amongst their families, so in total say 10 are infected, 2 need hospital treatment but subsequently die, is that acceptable, would you, if that was your family member who died be happy they were only fined £10k?
That’s why actually a £10k fine is acceptable to me, it’s,hopefully, a deterrent
