This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4145954-6-3-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

This thread is intended as a positive place to observe our remarkable vaccine rollout as it progresses and to celebrate the ever increasing numbers as we go.

Polite notice: conspiracy theorists, doommongers and those looking for endless debate over vaccine efficacy, leave vs remain and one-legged trousers - this is probably not the thread for you.

So, to pick up from where we left off... a truly tremendous 10,021,471 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 18.9% (or 1 in every 5.3) of all UK adults.

There’s no doubt about it - there is an unmistakable light at the end of this long, long tunnel and every day it’s getting brighter. Come on folks - let’s do this!! Grin

Scotland was slow in starting so can't believe its an issue with second doses? I do think NS has played politics with the Scottish population.. I've no doubt she wants the population vaccinated but not at the expense of BJ getting credit for doing a good job.. So with the run up to Scottish local elections I'm sure she would love to say there was supply issues and its down to BJ.

Certainly from what I have heard today, supply for the vaccination of the 50 plus groups is not an issue.

LetItGoGo · 13/02/2021 19:38

I'm in Scotland and can't follow what's happening.
Are they being ultra cautious and not using "earmarked" second doses?

FifeQuine · 13/02/2021 19:41

Sorry Frazzled6 I'm a bit of a lurker but I've come on to say what a daft post. Do you think the Scottish Government is holding back on vaccines just to show Boris up?

Jeezy peeps.....

It was said at the briefing on Friday that there was a slowdown in supply from Pfizer and we should expect to see numbers slow down in the next couple of weeks, so that they made sure they had enough supplies for the second doses. I don't think its a secret....

Frazzled6 · 13/02/2021 19:48

Scotland were holding over 1m of vaccine when they had vaccinated 400k of peeps that is why there was so much in the press and Ruth Davison asked for the army to get involved.

FifeQuine · 13/02/2021 19:49

That would be the Army that have been involved since 18th January? Let's not go there. Everybody is vaccinating as fast as they can and nobody is playing politics.

Frazzled6 · 13/02/2021 19:54

Sorry, not positive for this thread but let's face it NS is a political Cw. When Scotland were slow with vaccines its because we are being more thorough than England*

Let's hope hope the Alex Salmon saga shows her for her true colours and a bit of a middle aged diva!

Time to go...leave you with a graph or 2....

Go Wales!

LetItGoGo · 13/02/2021 20:00

I'm relieved to see Scotland catching up

Frazzled6 · 13/02/2021 20:04

Time to see a few screenshots how far Scotland were behind and still are despite the army intervention.

Yep they were doing badly

Yep the army gave them a hand like they are in London too. Now Scotland with their smaller population are smashing it

No Sturgeon won't deliberately hold back vaccine.

Yes she would undermine the government when talking about any delays

Scotland are now doing well. Some vaccine would naturally be diverted to areas doing less well now. So whether a problem with Pfizer supplies or not. Scotland at this stage would probably get less supply to some places anyway.

I work in healthcare and in my experience Scotland have been ahead in vaccination of care homes prior to England. They were ahead in making PPE available as well. They have also ahead in instructing the Police to investigate all care home deaths as well which has caused all hell taking up masses of resources away from direct care.

psychomath · 14/02/2021 13:11

Has anyone heard anything about teachers in special schools getting vaccinated? My aunt's had it because of her work (in a primary school for children with severe disabilities) - not sure if that's because it falls under being a carer?

Mostly just posting to bump the thread though as I noticed it's falled off the front page of the coronavirus board - unacceptable! Wink

Frazzled6 · 14/02/2021 13:22

I think there seems to be different policies depending on where you live.

My DB is a critical worker (Deputy MD and head of finance of a council), he's having his jab next week but he's around the right age group (60-64) so not sure whether it's because of his job or age.

Would gp records know that he is a critical worker? My guess is not
Frazzled6 · 14/02/2021 13:44

No, I doubt it, but the council do though (he is one of the leadership team). I may be wrong but I believe the council have a large input to which workers are being vaccinated (care workers etc).

A lot of SEND staff are getting done under the heading of health and social care I think.

AllAroundTheWrekin · 14/02/2021 14:13

I've honestly lost all respect for people / parents / politicians who expect teachers to work in small confined spaces with a class full of small children or teenagers and no PPE or vaccination. (I'm not a teacher)

DenisetheMenace · 14/02/2021 14:14

AllAroundTheWrekin

It’s really ugly, isn’t it?

AllAroundTheWrekin · 14/02/2021 14:19

Yes it is. I utterly condemn the selfish politicians and seemingly many parents on MN who have no concern for teachers.

AllAroundTheWrekin · 14/02/2021 14:20

If teachers go back to crowded classrooms then politicians should all have to cram into House of Commons with no masks. After all it's not dangerous is it?

CoffeeandCroissant · 14/02/2021 14:22

More than 15m people in UK have now had at least one vaccine dose - this is enough to cover all of JCVI groups 1-4 (over-70s, health/care staff, clinically extremely vulnerable).
Everyone in these groups should have been offered the chance to get the jab. 2 days early.

CoffeeandCroissant · 14/02/2021 14:24

Yesterday's NI figure still to come but excluding that, the number of people who've had a vaccine dose in the UK is 15,058,859.

(NB it is almost certain there are still some from the priority groups who haven't been directly contacted - likely to be a tiny minority now.)
mobile.twitter.com/HugoGye/status/1360953763486461953

431,683 additional vaccine doses registered in England yesterday (429,497 1st doses, 2,186 2nd doses).

50,601 in Scotland.
22,555 in Wales.
? in Northern Ireland.
