How many times have I read that on mn?

Except its not passing, is it

OP posts:
SnarkyBag · 03/02/2021 00:16

I’m not surprised it’s not over but I am surprised that people thought it would be by now to be honest.
It’s shit and it’s going to be shit for a bit longer and then it will be marginally less shit for quite a while yet. One day we’ll find ourselves going well at least it’s not as shit as 2020/2021 and in 10 years time we will have rewritten history and all our stories will be about we came together to beat the virus and clapped on our doorsteps and learnt what was really important in life yada yada yada

CountessFrog · 03/02/2021 00:16

I must be the only one who hasn’t seen a horse drawing!

Zero covid? Impossible I think

SnarkyBag · 03/02/2021 00:17

I haven’t seen a horse drawing either my Facebook feed is generally full of Winnie the Pooh talking bollocks

BenoneBeauty · 03/02/2021 00:21

It will pass Op, we just have to keep going for however long it takes.

Bloody hell, purple Ronnie - that brought back memories! I'd take purple Ronnie over the stupid bloody horse & Winnie the Pooh right now! They're fucking irritating and seem so sanctimonious!

FlamedToACrisp · 03/02/2021 00:38

"More importantly," said the horse, "why are you leaning up against a giant slug?"

@ssd I see you posting so many doom laden threads. I mean this kindly, but would it help you to maybe stop? Take some time away from posting depressing stuff which you're clearly dwelling on

CountessFrog · 03/02/2021 01:03

My first horse drawing!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 03/02/2021 05:36

It will pass.

If the new strains are so terrible, why are South Africa's cases coming down?

PhilCornwall1 · 03/02/2021 05:59

It will pass, or we all will before it does, then it doesn't matter.

Now there's a thought to start the day 🤔

kateandme · 03/02/2021 06:23

we are creating the varients.by not doing what we should.mutations occur by the volume of the virus.

AllMyPrettyOnes · 03/02/2021 06:27
We need a zero covid strategy.
There's been a petition approved for it today if anyone would like to sign

"Zero Covid seeks to eliminate the virus. It does so by driving cases down to low enough levels. We then use test, trace, isolate and, crucially, support, to ensure those with the virus are not infecting the rest of the community"

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/571965
That petition will get nowhere.

Zero covid will probably = zero mental health, zero economy to come back out.

Please really, really really have a think about what it would take to achieve this before spouting this bollocks.

AllMyPrettyOnes · 03/02/2021 06:29

A petition for zero Covid? Isn’t that what everyone wants, why would we need a petition?

Of course it's not what everyone wants. What planet are you on?

AllMyPrettyOnes · 03/02/2021 06:31

@TinaYouFatLard

Please can someone explain to me, how countries like NZ and Oz can ever open their borders to international travel from countries like the UK?

Genuine question so please don’t be snarky.

2 week, enforced hotel quarantine.

But it costs people thousands, thus tanking the tourism industry pretty much.

leafygarden42 · 03/02/2021 06:32

@AllMyPrettyOnes

hehe - probably - but I've just signed it.

This country has been so utterly useless - late to the party for masks, for lockdown, and 9 months late to even partially shutting down the borders. Of course it needs as close to zero covid as possible, but of course there is a half hearted response to it all. Why on earth are B and M shops and garden centres open??? It's not vital supplies is it?

leafygarden42 · 03/02/2021 06:35

@Seriouslymole

How is this any worse than the bollocks we have already had? The economy has tanked, and we have the highest death rate in frickin Europe... yeah - we're doing great, let's just carry on everybody for more of the same.

Fembot123 · 03/02/2021 06:37

@jerometheturnipking

I know it will, eventually. One way or another.

But if I have to see one more of those wanky ink drawings with the stupid fucking horse and meaningless word salad, I’ll scream.

Yes!! That fucking horse!

You're right - B&M is the sole cause of this mess.

As is The Range.

Pursuing a zero Covid strategy would entail full lockdown for far, far longer. The risk to my children of doing this is not OK. So yes, it is worse than the bollocks we have already had.

We have the highest death rate in Europe because we have an elderly population and the highest obesity rate in Western Europe. Go figure.

RosieLemonade · 03/02/2021 06:46

@Thewiseoneincognito

It won’t be passing anytime soon. If anything it’s going to get a lot worse unfortunately. Yes this wave will no doubt slow down but the mutations mean that the swell of the next wave will build a lot quicker than before regardless of vaccines. This is without the Brazilian variant in the picture.
I really wish MN would ban you. Popping up on every thread with complete nonsense and fake hand wringing. So unhelpful. The Gov know people are fatigued and close to seeing family regardless of the rules. That is why they are making a big deal of the variants to scare people into submission. Have you ever read in the papers about the flu mutations that happen every year?
Eeeemac · 03/02/2021 06:50

'we are creating the varients.by not doing what we should.mutations occur by the volume of the virus.'

Stop blaming the natural evolution of all viruses on human behaviour.

We have never eradicated viruses by our behaviour, we have evolved immunity through exposure or vaccination.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 03/02/2021 06:55

@MaxNormal

We need a zero covid strategy.

We really do not. It's a completely unrealistic strategy and attempting to pursue it will do huge damage.

My thoughts exactly! We will here in lockdown forever and a day if this was to happen.

Nobody bats an eye at the 40k plus deaths a year from seasonal flu, I see no petitions for that.....Every year we have winter pressures due to flu, A&E bursting at the seams.

Every year the flu vaccination is made to reflect new variants of influenza, for the past few years the under 65s and over 65s have had to have different vaccines due to mutations. I suspect this is what will happen with Covid.

At what stage will we accept deaths from Covid to be an acceptable amount? To say zero would mean a long long time in lockdown, we cannot carry on like this.

Seriouslymole · 03/02/2021 06:57

We have never eradicated viruses by our behaviour, we have evolved immunity through exposure or vaccination.

At last, someone speaks sense. This will pass, as every other virus does, whatever will do will make limited difference. It might slow it down for a while but it won't stop it. We will either have to learn to live with it (flu) or we vaccinate it out (small pox) or it mutates so it's not so deadly (questionably the black death). So, whilst we can make small personal differences (hands, blah blah blah) locking everyone down ad infinitum is going to do nothing but screw us over good and proper.
