If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.

The UK government are just doing the same thing over and over.

In a few more weeks they'll fling open the schools with no safety measures.

I mean what kind of bullshit country announces school openings and non-travel related mutation presence that 'MUST BE WIPED OUT' on the same day!?

It could be over, or at least a lot, lot better, but it won't be. Because they're going to keep doing the same shit.

MaxNormal · 02/02/2021 22:47

We need a zero covid strategy.

We really do not. It's a completely unrealistic strategy and attempting to pursue it will do huge damage.

BoredBeforelEvenBegan · 02/02/2021 22:48

Ah look, it's @Thewiseoneincognito proving, yet again, the irony of their name.

Lemons1571 · 02/02/2021 23:06

Can someone link to one of these ink drawings? I’ve not heard of or seen this.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 02/02/2021 23:14

@Lemons1571 google Charlie Mackesy

dementedpixie · 02/02/2021 23:16

Its too late for a zero covid policy. Its endemic now and we will have to get on with it. We have vaccines and better treatments now so hopefully it will be kept to manageable levels in the future

megletthesecond · 02/02/2021 23:18

It is passing. It'll take a while but we're slowly getting in a better position to get out of this. It's like slowing and turning a huge ship.

Staffy1 · 02/02/2021 23:18

@jerometheturnipking

I know it will, eventually. One way or another.

But if I have to see one more of those wanky ink drawings with the stupid fucking horse and meaningless word salad, I’ll scream.

Not sure what you're on about, what have I missed, sounds intriguing.
We need a zero covid strategy.
There's been a petition approved for it today if anyone would like to sign

"Zero Covid seeks to eliminate the virus. It does so by driving cases down to low enough levels. We then use test, trace, isolate and, crucially, support, to ensure those with the virus are not infecting the rest of the community"

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/571965
A petition for zero Covid? Isn’t that what everyone wants, why would we need a petition?

I'm.not going to link . They are crap.

The Australians and New Zealanders managed. It's too late to do it here, but it obviously was done very successfully by other countries without doing huge damage. They must be a lot more self sufficient than we are.
Purplestorm83 · 02/02/2021 23:28

Oh god yes the horse drawings - impossible to blood read for a start. It will pass, just not any time soon sadly.

baroqueandblue · 02/02/2021 23:30

oh God @hazandduck, I've seen a book of that sort of vacuous pish in waterstones. apparently it's a bestseller Confused

MaxNormal · 02/02/2021 23:31

Staffy1 that petition is nuts. They want to close down the entire economy (apparently including supermarkets) while the government bankrolls the lot.

WineInTheWillows · 02/02/2021 23:34

Everything passes, OP. Heck, if it mutates into some weird variant that attacks the brain and turns us all into flesh eating zombies, triggering a zombie apocalypse and the extinction of the human race, it'll still pass. No one guarantees who'll still be standing by the time it does though.

Basically, people are trying to make you feel better.

hazandduck · 02/02/2021 23:35

I know, it just feels like trying to cash in on all those fake Winnie-the-Pooh quotes that do the rounds, trite and meaningless.

TinaYouFatLard · 02/02/2021 23:36

Please can someone explain to me, how countries like NZ and Oz can ever open their borders to international travel from countries like the UK?

Genuine question so please don’t be snarky.

Every one of us has ancestors who survived the Plagues. Far more deadly. It does pass.

ConeHat · 03/02/2021 00:12

IRS a virus just doing what viruses do. It will pass, but maybe more like a passing kidney stone than passing wind.
