My mum is over 70 and filled in the NhS link yesterday and has hers 9.30 this morning at a local pharmacy !

Zogstart · 01/02/2021 09:44

Surely they should be making big public announcements by now saying if people are in groups 1-4 to book using the website? Two weeks till deadline and we have people on this thread who are group 2 and haven’t been contacted. Obviously with a project this size there will be people missed off lists or letters lost in post etc, I think so many people don’t want to bother their GP because we’ve been told not too but now is the time really.

Emmie2021 · 01/02/2021 09:47

Totally @Zogstart - I only told my mum cos I saw it on here !

I agree but maybe they’re scared the website will crash!
Sewsosew · 01/02/2021 09:52

I think because there isn’t that many mass vaccination centres. I googled it and there is no plans to open one near us at all. The local hospital put a plea out for people to stop ringing. For a lot of us we just have to wait for the GPs to have a space.

Skyppy · 01/02/2021 09:55

@Sewsosew

I think we are 50 miles from a big vaccination centre anyway.
You might not be. My own GP is doing them in a hub but I have heard nothing from them. I thought our nearest mass vax centre was a city 60 miles away. When I went on the link I found that there was a vax centre in the nearest town half an hour away. It's not a football stadium but a pharmacy attached to a GP. Incidentally the website also offered me two cities 60 miles away which I would have taken if none locally.
DumplingsAndStew · 01/02/2021 10:08

I think we are on to 65-79 and people who are CEV.

GoldGreen · 01/02/2021 10:16

@Sewsosew the computer isn’t that clever. It doesn’t allow some people to book. It works on simple date of birth and if you’ve been classified as CEV. I’m presuming your DH is CEV did he have an official shielding letter?

mootymoo · 01/02/2021 10:39

Dad is 72, not heard anything yet

He can book it himself using the nhs link - my mum did yesterday

Several of them! And told by his GP and regional specialist to shield.
Would it send us to the nearest hub if it was working (no matter how far?)

GoldGreen · 01/02/2021 11:51

That’s my understanding @Sewsosew there was someone on the other thread who is based in Kent and was offered one in London.

Could you email your GP surgery? I know you don’t want to ring, but an email (which they can deal with in their own time) may help.

thereisonlyoneofme · 01/02/2021 11:52

Had the letter about booking on line, the nearest place to me is 30 miles away near London ! Wont be taking that up.

MadisonAvenue · 01/02/2021 11:54

@Sewsosew Once logged in you enter your postcode and it brings up a list of vaccination sites (mine shows anything between 5 miles and 60 miles away) and you choose which you want to go to.

Sewsosew · 01/02/2021 11:57

He has a hospital appointment on Wednesday and was actually thinking of asking at the desk for one of his issues. He’s actually ECV for 2 medical reasons as well.
I’ll get him to email as well.

GoldGreen · 01/02/2021 12:03

@Sewsosew that sounds like a plan. Make sure he asks at his appointment as well. My BIL grandad is 80. He went for a routine hosptial appointment beginning of Jan and he was able to have it that day as they had some spaces. I’m sure as he’s ECV his doctors will be keen he has the vaccine ASAP.

70 + West Sussex

Dfg15 · 01/02/2021 12:08

I'm 63 and had my first yesterday - i live in Enfield. They seem to be whizzing through them here.

Gilead · 01/02/2021 12:10

Group four, north east, not heard yet.

CoffeeandCroissant · 01/02/2021 12:12

5-9 End Feb to April before April or by the end of April

By early May is what I saw for all groups 1 to 9 to have received first doses. But could be sooner than that if current numbers are maintained? Not forgetting that second doses will need to be done from around the first week in March for people who got their first dose in early December and the numbers of people needing a second dose will increase quite rapidly from April onwards...

CoffeeandCroissant · 01/02/2021 12:14

E.g. 12 weeks from 01 January = 26 March.

MarinPrime · 01/02/2021 12:29

My 70 yr old mother had a text this morning, was given the choice of five places nearby and has booked in for this afternoon at a GP surgery 3 miles away. She's delighted, wasn't expecting to be called yet.

Zoomies06 · 01/02/2021 12:29

CEV not had an appt yet .But we are a rural county. Still doing over 75 I think here.

TreacleHart · 01/02/2021 15:47

It definitely depends on your area.
My dh is cev and we live in the very rural part of North West, he hasn't heard and I've just gone on that link and it does not allow to book. He has been shielding ( as per letters ) and his prescriptions arrive with Shielding wrote against his name etc. I guess it's just a waiting gameHmm

Zem74 · 01/02/2021 16:46

I’m in Essex - group 4. Having vaccine this weekend
