I am beyond broken if this means we can't get to any kind of normality.

OP posts:
@FTMF30 it's been made quite clear we wont be going back to normal until the entire adult population has been vaccinated. It literally says on the govt website that once you have been vaccinated you must continue to social distance/ shield as although the vaccine stops you getting seriously Ill you can still get covid and spread it. So in order not to give it to anyone else you must stay home. I dont agree with this at all but it's the case
That doesn’t mean we’re not going back to normal until the entire adult population has been vaccinated. Once the more vulnerable are vaccinate, hospitalisations will decrease and the nhs won’t be under so much pressure. Then we can start easing restrictions.

FTMF30 · 30/01/2021 17:32

@MintyCedric

If I was at risk of a deadly disease, I would want to do everything in my power to try and save myself from it. In this case, it would be trying to lose weight.

Excellent. Well if you could pop along to my place and talk some sense into my knackered thyroid gland, that would be great Hmm

@MintyCedric If you read all my comments, you'll notice I made no sweeping statements. I said some people. You're just jumping on something without taking the full context. I also did not say anything along the lines of "obese people should just lose weight". I said there are other options than just waiting on the vaccine. I clarified I meant "some" further along and also said I was NOT telling people what to do. But Marbella was resigned in his/her offence so I gave up correcting her 🤷‍♀️.
hesneverfaraway · 30/01/2021 17:32

We should be vaccinating everyone here first who wants the vaccination

The focus of the U.K. needs to be the U.K. once we have a vaccinated nation then it’s the time to help others

SinkGirl · 30/01/2021 17:32

@LimaFoxtrotCharlie

I am astounded at the selfishness being displayed here. This is a global pandemic and the response needs to be global. The vulnerable worldwide need to be vaccinated, not just the lucky few who live in the UK. I have just donated to the UNICEF covid relief programme because of the self-centred posters on this thread.
I wish I were surprised.

Things like
And I couldn’t give a shit about vulnerable people in other countries.

Imagine saying something like this publicly.

This entire situation has really shown up us Brits as a bunch of utter arseholes in so many ways.

Didicat · 30/01/2021 17:33

I’m in my 40s and I really want my Jab when there is one available to me. My kids and family need our lives back. Happy to be called selfish but all our mental health is being effected. As a country we have not done well at controlling the virus by other means thus we need to vaccinate everyone.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 30/01/2021 17:33

I think it’s a bit like if you’re in a plane that’s going down, you put on your own mask before you help the person next to you.

It’s going to take a long time to vaccinate the whole world.. To help with that we need to ensure we are in the position to offer on the ground help.

Saying that, even though it’s like we are completely in the shit at the moment, we are one of the biggest donors to Covax.

Ihatefish · 30/01/2021 17:34

@marbellamarc

For me, the fact we are doing so well at vaccinating just shows how selfish we are.

What do you think of Israel?

What do you think of Israel? Well that’s a whole new thread right there lol
marbellamarc · 30/01/2021 17:34

@FTMF30

I thought the below was a dick move.

Or a lot of the obese people could try to help themselves by trying to lose weight instead of solely relying on a vaccine.

Your attempts to row back don't change that.

Staffy1 · 30/01/2021 17:34

I do hope Britain tells the WHO to fuck off.

ALoadOfGrief · 30/01/2021 17:34

Yeah, well the WHO hasn’t covered itself in glory lately has it?

FTMF30 · 30/01/2021 17:34

@IndiaMay That just says to me that we can't get too excited too soon. Boris has alreasy confirmed a plan will soon be shared on how/when restrictions will be lifted.

Aspiringmatriarch · 30/01/2021 17:35

Or a lot of the obese people could try to help themselves by trying to lose weight instead of solely relying on a vaccine.

Wow. I think you've cracked it! Hmm

Kazzyhoward · 30/01/2021 17:35

@Perfect28

For me, the fact we are doing so well at vaccinating just shows how selfish we are. We need to think of ourselves as a global community so I absolutely think that WHO are right, after the vulnerable are vaccinated the priority should be to vaccinate the vulnerable elsewhere.
So you're happy for everything to be back to normal, no school closures, students back having normal face to face lectures at Uni, pubs & restaurants open, then? Happy for the collateral damage of teachers etc catching covid and a few suffering long term issues and deaths? Basically, the elderly and vulnerable hope for the best and everyone else cracks on, even without the vaccine?
IndiaMay · 30/01/2021 17:35

@bumbleymummy dont get me wrong, I hope you're right. I think if these ridiculous rules are still being forced on us once the elderly and vulnerable are vaccinated then I think there will be civil unrest and I for one would be joining them but I'm worried this will be dragged out until this time next year. Most scientists are predicting this time next year for all restrictions to be lifted

Shelovesamystery · 30/01/2021 17:36

@MaxNormal

God you lot have screamed at people for being selfish for almost a year now but when it comes to it the truly selfish ones are clearly revealed.
I was thinking exactly the same Confused

I bet most on this thread have called people selfish covidiots plenty of times, banging on about how important it is to save lives. True colours always show in the end. Bloody hypocrites the lot of you.

IndiaMay · 30/01/2021 17:37

@FTMF30 praying you're right as I think we would end up with serious protests etc if not

FTMF30 · 30/01/2021 17:37

"Or alot of obese people could try to help themselves by trying to lose weight. . . ."

Where have I told anyone what to do? If you want to take personal offence, go ahead.

marbellamarc · 30/01/2021 17:37

Wow. I think you've cracked it!

Yep who know! The next campaign will be telling people to stop smoking rather than rely on the vaccine.

marbellamarc · 30/01/2021 17:38

Where have I told anyone what to do? If you want to take personal offence, go ahead.

Calling you a dick didn't mean I took personal offence

BolloxtoGender · 30/01/2021 17:38

Some people’s naive unrealistic attitudes are unbelievable, and out of touch with reality, but they seem to think that’s sophisticated. To stand on the moral high ground and tell other people that it is selfish to want to prioritise your closest.

trulydelicious · 30/01/2021 17:38

@lovelemoncurd

Why are we coming under so much fire at the moment for being efficient

Exactly, they are trying to sabotage our efforts at every opportunity. They can jog on

Randomschoolworker19 · 30/01/2021 17:38

I was pro remain and anti Brexit but everyone else can F off. The vaccine is about the only thing this government has gotten right. We have the highest death rate in the world, so don't tell me we don't need it once we've gotten through the first priority groups.

trulydelicious · 30/01/2021 17:40

@Shelovesamystery

I bet most on this thread have called people selfish covidiots plenty of times

Because they are. Nothing to do with vaccines though

marbellamarc · 30/01/2021 17:40

Why are we coming under so much fire at the moment for being efficient

I wonder what it would be if it was the EU doing well. We probably would still be selfish somehow.

SummerBlondey · 30/01/2021 17:40

For me, the fact we are doing so well at vaccinating just shows how selfish we are

WTF? If our Government were the last in the World to place an order for Vaccines, I guarantee that you'd be on your soap box moaning about it.
