Yeah, I have had a lot of courses of pred but I've never had tingling in hands and feet. When I've taken them it's because my chest is fucked so I can't help you with that one. Try phoning 111, they're pretty good with stuff like side effects etc.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/02/2021 13:06

Yes. I filled out the practice online form with issue earlier. Am just being impatient waiting for doctor to call me back

Level75 · 05/02/2021 13:12

Various sources reporting over 50s will be done by May.

Side effects minimal and vastly out weighed by benefits.

More evidence that Oxford jab works well in older people (not that I doubted it):
"Since (initial approval) we've seen more data coming through from AstraZeneca as more people are completing the trial, which highlights again that efficacy in the elderly is seen, and there's no evidence of lack of efficacy," Munir Pirmohamed, MHRA chair said."

Pomegranatespompom · 05/02/2021 13:16

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum what dose?

HalfDutchGirl · 05/02/2021 13:20

@FuzzyPuffling Go George! Hope he's home soon

Inastatus · 05/02/2021 13:38

@Jenasaurus - that video is hysterical 😅

@FuzzyPuffling - I hope gorgeous George has a wee and is back home for cuddles asap.

TeaInTheGarden · 05/02/2021 13:38

Can anyone remember how many people are in groups 5-9? I will go and google but thought one of you may know..!
Sky news saying government target to get them all vaccinated by may. This is slower than the first 4 groups so I’m guessing there are more people?

chri55ie · 05/02/2021 13:41

I think about 18-19 million? So not too much more really....

TeaInTheGarden · 05/02/2021 13:54

So considering we’ve got another 6 weeks (ish) after 15 Feb before we will be doing a substantial number of second doses- do we think this is an “under promise”, basically just being cautious?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/02/2021 13:54
@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum what dose?
Six 5mg tablet a day

Yep definitely an under promise. Unless they mean done with both doses. Which sounds about right.

Also tactics because of the EU. Best not to be flashing that we have enough vaccine. That has already caused trouble. Plus they can't say we need to share it before we finish the vulnerable. By May unless they cock something up again they will have enough themselves.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/02/2021 14:01

Most people seem to have been given second appointments with a 10 weeks gap not 12 weeks. So you probably need to calculate your maths using that.

Pomegranatespompom · 05/02/2021 14:03

That’s a low dose - I wouldn’t expect to see side effects, especially so soon.
I hope you feel better.

Frazzled2207 · 05/02/2021 14:07

I thought we were previously told that all over 50s would be vaccinated by the end of March? Or was I imagining it. Anyway 'by may' to me sounds like by the end of April.

I imagine from March onwards there will have to be a lot of second doses which makes things complicated and means less 'new' people being vaccinated per day. And also talk of perhaps certain key workers being able to jump the queue.Hopefully we'll know soon (though i'm much younger and not a KW so doesn't affect me) . But I really hope the daily vaccination rate can remain high. After all, noone's really safe until everyone's safe.

TeaInTheGarden · 05/02/2021 14:11

I thought I had heard end of March too big doubted myself!
End of March sounds doable, but yes lots of reasons not to promise that at this point!

FourTeaFallOut · 05/02/2021 14:12

391,037 jabs for England (388,426 1st doses, 2,611 2nd doses)

48,663 jabs in Scotland
32,891 jabs in Wales

It's a bit much to ask NI to bring us to 500k but it's not too shabby, 11m tomorrow then.

TeaInTheGarden · 05/02/2021 14:12

There is now evidence that the Oxford vaccine works just as well on uk variant as it does on original virus. Happy Friday!

HalfDutchGirl · 05/02/2021 14:12

My, totally unscientific, brain is thinking that, if my vaccine hub is anything to go by, and if they can up the amount of vaccine available, that at the moment we are open 4-5 days a week so would hope that once the second jabs are being given (dates already booked in for everyone done so far) that we would be able to open 7 days a week to cope with the next Group (over 50s).

Sorry, that's a really long sentence! Hope it makes sense!

TeaInTheGarden · 05/02/2021 14:14

@FourTeaFallOut not too shabby at all ☺️

11m reported tomorrow but we could already be there 🎉🥳🤞

Cool. I probably am over thinking it. Don't fair well if not working and have been off work for months. Usually I am to busy making sure teenagers are ready to enter the adult world as descent people. Takes up all my head space 🤪

Anyway thank for the reassurance ❤

HalfDutchGirl · 05/02/2021 14:19

Additionally, just looking at the different groups, I see that Group six is Adults aged 16-65 in an at-risk group. Yesterday at our hub in the time I was there, we had at least 4 younger people (aged in their 20s, non carers or residential home workers) coming along so I wonder if some from that Group are already being earmarked for the vaccine and getting it earlier.

Also (sorry, I keep of thinking of other 'good' news), two friends (in their 50s) who work for charities have been vaccinated as has a friend who works with SEN children so there definitely are others in lower down groups who are being jabbed.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/02/2021 14:20

Good numbers, brilliant Grin

BigWoollyJumpers · 05/02/2021 14:20

I think, with the ramp ups, and of course dependent on a stable supply, we may be able to get close to 5 million in one week, at some point. Anyone willing to bet?

NeedingCoffee · 05/02/2021 14:25

I was slightly shocked to find out that our gp hub is only running vaccination clinics one day a week - they are definitely constrained by supply rather than capacity. So as soon as more comes on line that’s at least a 5-fold increase. If the same sort of thing is mirrored across the country I can’t see why 5m isn’t possible once supply permits.
